You should be able to handle two yellow or one orange without drinking a potion. That has been my experience. Just have some reasonable green gear equipped & keep your green weapon updated at least every 4-5 levels. I’m using weapon/shield 100% since I don’t really like 2HND or Dual-Wield play styles personally, & using a hodgepodge of talents for leveling from Battle & Fury trees thus far. I solo in Battle Stance pretty much all the time. I will respec to Protection somewhere between 40-60, since Shield Slam is my idea of Warrior fun, and that is when I can access it. Until then, I take the talents that help me now from whatever tree I want. I’m lvl 22 as of this posting.
HS is not the way to go, don’t take that advice.
You didn’t mention what weapon you’re using, this is the biggest factor in leveling speed by far.
Until you get whirlwind/MS all that matters is weapon dps. Crescent Staff from a WC quest is available in your early 20s and a huge boost. Yes a staff with int is a huge upgrade for you.
Stats on armor make a small difference, 7-8 str gives you about 1 dps, other stats have less impact, don’t buy armor. Do buy a high dps weapon if things feel slow.
Until you get WW your rotation is Charge, Rend, Sunder until mob is about 50% hp, white attack until dead. Overpower every chance you get.
Try to stick to green mobs and quests, yellow are more viable if you have a good weapon and maxed weapon skill.
Once you have SS+WW get a good weapon and its a different ballgame. You need a macro for ZS->zerk rage->WW->battle stance. You still prefer green mobs, but take 2 at a time. Charge, SS, macro, watch things explode, pretty fun.
Yes some classes have it much easier, in 1.12/1.13 I think warlock is the biggest leveling powerhouse.
Good luck!
I think you’re missing the point about what level the OP is.
Nope. He’s 17 and you get Sunder at 10. Obviously HS is better than losing excess rage after the mob is below 50% but otherwise he shouldn’t use it.
It sure is. Glad you think that’s obvious. Note that you literally just pointed out that HS is not the way to go:
In any case, you may also note that the OP is Alliance, so unlikely to get the Crescent Staff from the WC quest. But otherwise, I agree with the points you’ve made (aside from not to use HS at that level).
I’ve leveled to almost 51 not following your rule. You need to be careful, but you don’t need to solely focus on green quests. To the op, gear is your friend and don’t be afraid to grind levels. Grab skinning and grind mobs for gold and xp.
What rule?
Are you range pulling? 0-20 on my war haven’t even been difficult because i range pulled a lot but i stopped playing because mages are dope.
lmaolol you’re gonna regret it in phase 3
Nah mages are still dope lol
War is a painful start it gets better about 25 In my opinion as you start getting better gear and skills I wold Suggest teaming up for a bit I would also take off my weapon and punch low lvls to up youer unarmed skill it will help with miss rate
And do Deadmine no tank is good at 18 only way to learn classic tank is do it tell you Succeed if you are planing to tank It will not play like a dps solo
You start to shine at high 30s and with a healer you can defanitly get smacked around like no other lol
you can always grind dungeon
This.
This is your problem, IMO. You said you weren’t using it because it kills your rage generation. But what else are you going to use your rage on at low level? Spam it. Then Execute at 20% when you get that. Use Whirlwind instead of HS when you get it, and your level 40 ability when you get that. But at low levels, all you have is HS.
I’ve leveled two, one in vanilla and one in Classic, as prot no less, and I never saw an issue. But I’m tougher than most. I think some people just aren’t tough enough to play a warrior.
You can also get rage positions and use them in a Emergency. I pop one when things get nuts and need rage now
That’s sort of my point, when people say, “It gets better.” My first warrior is Alliance on Faerlina, and I have another on Sargeras, as well as a Horde on Kurinnaxx, and personally I love warriors - I don’t like solo questing, but I don’t like solo questing on any class, particularly.
And, while I agree that warriors get better as their kit gets more rounded out as you gain levels, that’s not in a significant enough way for me to feel like it’s so game changing that if you hate warrior at level 18, you’ll love warrior at level 44, for example.
Yes, warriors are slow and difficult.
Mine is lvl 32. Personally I only play on it when I can pair up with a friend on their paladin. Warrior + Paladin = god mode. Basically then I don’t even worry about extra mobs or anything else really. With consecrate (they are holy), restribution aura, and cleave we have enough AoE to whittle them down.
So if you can find a healer friend, that changes the table to make warrior extremely fun.
Failing that:
- keep to mobs at or below your level.
- Fight 1:1 if possible. Use a bow/gun to avoid body pulls.
- Potions. Either make them yourself or plan to buy them. you will need them.
- When fighting, I use HS until the mob is around 30% at which point I’ll pool rage for the next fight.
As for talents, I went up Arms to Tactical Mastery, and then went over to fury. I played Dual Wield until I got windfury weapon and went back to 2H.
Prot can take a beating, but killing anything is also painfully slow. Its a trade off. I go DW just because I find it more entertaining.
Good luck!
Warrior is the hardest to level but at 40 when you get Mortal Strike, it changes completely.
Things to look forward to are
Whirlwind Axe at level 30 (with help)
Sweeping strikes at 30
Whirlwind 36
Mortal Strike 40
Plate 40
Keep your weapon upgraded, run DM and get smites mighty hanmer…put fiery enchant on it and will last you to 30.
Have lots of food, health pots.
It’s hard my friend but it allll pays off later on, Warriors are top tier dps and rip things to shreds in PvP.
Ask a healer in guild to run with you and heal ya.
Goodluck!, don’t give up! Keep at it
Warrior is VERY gear dependent, meaning you’ll want to hit dungeons as often as possible for blue weapons. Problem is at level 17, you’re still a few levels away from Deadmines, so you’re likely still using greens and maybe even some whites. So do whatever it takes to keep your gear up to date, preferably with blue weapons.
Also, as a warrior, you desperately want to level up both cooking (and by extension fishing) and first aid. Your downtime is directly proportional to your ability to heal yourself after some fights. You don’t need to do it after every fight, but once you’re at half health, drop some bandages. Also, don’t completely neglect your Spirit score as that contributes to how much health you auto regen between fights.
Warrior is a pain in lower levels, but once you hit 30, it’s decent. Once you hit 40 and max out either the Fury or Arms tree, then you are just a juggernaut.
If I had to guess, I’d venture you’re probably not hamstring kiting between your weapon swing timers. Standing there and trading blow for blow is a great way to lose a trade as a Warrior early on when you have literally no instant attacks beyond Rend and Hamstring.
Dont use Heroic Strike, spam sunder armor. The warrior lvling difficulty seems to be an overreaction from what I’ve played so far, only thing that makes it slow is how many times Ive been ganked since anybody could easily kill me.
I feel like leveling my warrior was slow until I started to feed them gear. At 45 right now and I can take roughly two equal level mobs, but like I said, I’ve been feeding them gear.
