I made a Warrior at first. It worked for a while but now it’s 17 and since about 15 it’s been very difficult to progress. I’ve considered grinding or questing, not so much dungeons because i don’t think i could tank on this. Nothing seems to hit the spot.
I made a Rogue… It kills faster, takes less damage, can pretty much kill two mobs at once. The Warrior would have to stop in between every mobs, if it can finish it.
Why is this Warrior so very bad? Is there something i just don’t understand?
I mean, there are definitely some things that can help while leveling. There’s pretty decent information around, I think that’s easy enough to find (so easy I didn’t even look! haha).
Anyway, it helps to have a weapon that can do as much damage as you can find. Some people like to spec into Cruelty right away, for the crit. I don’t personally find that as helpful as they say, and think it’s more of a preference.
I went 31 points into the Arms tree to get MS before I put a point into Cruelty. That’s me though.
What exactly is your issue? That you need to eat after each mob?
I looked around a bit. PArts about rage generation…
It’s like, i pull a mob, start hitting it for rage, hit the skill for instant rage. Then… the mob doesn’t die fast enough and i either die or run away.
I don’t normally focus heroic strike a lot, because it completely kills my rage. But then again, i don’t really use any other skill. Which might be a problem?
I had a similar experience - mostly at low levels around 1-30 or so.
Part of it is the different difficulty of Classic - pulling more than 1 mob as a Warrior before you have Sweeping Strikes/Whirlwind/Cleave is a recipe for death. You’re also the only class really face-tanking without much ability to mitigate that damage or heal it at low levels.
My advice: take on one mob at a time, level Cooking, Fishing, and First Aid, and get a ranged weapon to pull single mobs away from packs.
It gets better. It gets a lot better. Warrior damage, tanking, and PvP are very, very good. They’re the slowest class to solo level, and one of the most gear dependent.
And as people are saying above, Arms spec is arguably the best for leveling, and you’ll want to prioritize weapons with the highest maximum damage, usually as slow as possible.
You’ll feel a lot stronger as you level up and get geared, but yeah, those low levels can be a bit of a slog.
Try lower level mobs. On other classes, you may have an easier time killing mobs that are yellow, orange or red, but on a warrior, those colors are more meaningful, unfortunately.
It’s fairly gear dependent. Keeping your gear up to date can make a huge difference. If you have access to a higher character, spend a gold or two and buy some greens near your level (They are almost always better than the quest rewards). If you don’t have a higher level, consider doing lower level quests (green in the journal). Between Loch Modan, Westfall and Redridge, there’s easily enough quest overlap to get you through.
Sounds i’m the only one having it that bad. I realized here i don’t use Heroic Strike… Pretty much at all. Considering it’s the only real damage dealer i have atm, and i got it level 1… I should consider using it more.
It’s frustrating, because people make it out to be “not that bad,” and I feel that nobody is actually saying it like it is. It SUCKS! Warrior leveling is hands down the worst.
Solo questing on a warrior is not fun, in my opinion.
Heroic Strike is actually pretty good at low levels. You’ll want to take note of how it works though, as it uses rage, and uses your white hit, so that hit won’t be generating rage. What else are you going to do with your rage though, if you don’t have any other skills?
This post might carry a little more weight if this was coming from a classic avatar, but the undertones of, “I’m an angsty teenager in an adult’s body, and I want to make others feel bad.” would still linger.
Warrior leveling is great if you spam dungeons since you can “tank” by cleaving with a 2hander and grabbing all the drops. Questing blows and 1v1ing anything your level usually results in needing a bandage at least (unless you get lucky overpower procs).
The real pain comes at 60 when you want to farm out in the world and have to compete with other classes like Mages who can kite you to death with rank 1 frostbolt.
