WARNING! No way to get your old UI back

I dislike changes. I started s2 of shadowlands. Logging in last night almost made me cry. It’s so hard to get used to. Hard to see power bars. The white color blends in with the green and I’m literally squinting to see anything.

Please, for the love of god someone create an add on to give me the default old UI back.

I am glad the old one is removed from the game permanently and the new HUD UI is just more sleeker and more modern.

I personally like the new UI changes. I haven’t really changed anything major yet, but I like it.

Most people hate it because why, your addon broke? That’s sad and pathetic. I now have more ways to customize my HUD how I see fit, instead of needing an addon to do that. It’s clean, simplistic, It’s fine.

Yeah that stance bar really doesn’t want to go away.
Everytime you want to make any adjustments via “edit mode” there it is again, smack in the center of your screen, box auto checks itself trying to force itself on you like… well I don’t want to make half the forums cry, so I will refrain from making that comparison, but much like the comparison to rl anyone can make, it’s unwanted annoying and has no practical application that I’m aware of at this time.

However for you, or anyone else having issues with it.

1. set up your other bars ignoring the stance bar, OR UNCHECK THE BOX before you set things up
2. uncheck the stance bar box, or make sure it is unchecked BEFORE you save your new adjustments/settings

and the stance bar with not plague you with its unwanted presence.

I absolutely Hate this new UI. I did not ask for this change. I decided to try to get the look some what back to normal. Which has taken me hours to figure out. I don’t have much time to play the game anymore because I have to take care of my Grandmother who is 93. I don’t want to have to sit a fix the UI every time I log in. For some reason even if I save and then log out and log back in everything is rearranged all over the screen. This is detrimental to my game play time. I hate the graphics as well but I could live with it if I did not have to rearrange everything every time I log in. I have played for 18 years and I pay for my subscription 6 months at a time. So this change is like a kick in the teeth for me. Its not fair for us who don’t have the time to rearrange the bars all the time. I never used an addon to move my action bars and now I know why. If this issue is not resolved I will be forced to cancel my subscription and I wont look back.

a major change around Legion/BFA which offset the main action bar to the left and put the game menu and bags right next to it. Did you complain when that happened too?

Actually yes, I did, I hated the shift of the menu down to the bottom right. I thought it was a terrible design choice.

What are you talking about? The UI you had in Shadowlands was not the same one you had since Classic.

True but it was an improvement (in hindsight my initial hate was illfounded and I grew to like the new placement)

But this is worse, the new graphics look bad, the gryphons no longer sit on either side of ALL of my hot bars down the bottom.

If I try to replicate it the gryphons cause this horrendous imbalanced look where you have the 6x2 grid offset to right or you turn the gryphons off and lose some of that WoW charm.

The XP bar can not be moved for some moronic reason so I cant even have my bars sit flush at the bottom of my screen.

The new minimap cant moved to the edge so it sits further away than the old one.

You can get a close enough approximation of the old UI layout but with compromises.

The greyscale menu buttons look awful and for me arent as easy to locate the button I want. It may not be the same for you but the different icons looked drastically different due to their colour, now they all look the same at a cursory glance.

Yes, its little things but LOTS of little things.

Ill adjust to it in time as I did with the Legion change but its a terrible change its a compromise on what was and what could have been and thats not good enough.

I LOVE That you can move the elements around its been a long time coming but all the other stuff detract from it.

Its not acceptable that a billion dollar company that is about to be rolled into the MS conglomerate of homogenised BS gets away with such a half hearted go at something like this and they get it away with it because people like you dismiss anyone who has an issue with it.

Blizz have gone one step sideways here, they have both improved the UI and failed to make it better at the same time. Thats rubbish.

Whats worse is you defending them and shutting down anyone with valid criticism.

Now they HAVE to spend time dealing with it, and with the giant map, and the eyesore small fonts, and the miniscule XP bar and bag buttons, and the menu buttons that you need a magnifying glass to see… not to mention the clock with 5px font characters.

I spent most of today fiddling with the new UI Edit Mode. And I really don’t care for it. I don’t HATE it, but it’s buggy, clumsy, cannot do many things I had with the old UI and a couple addons, and the best result I obtained after all those hours is… MEH.

I’ll be checking CurseForge everyday for updated addons to help me repair this ugly mess.

The difference is that in 2004 you could log in and have a functional UI that very moment. It might not be your ideal UI, but it worked. Now, I log in and my chat box is cut off by my hot bars. This might seem minor for you, but it sets a precedent for how the rest of the expansion is going to be and right now that’s less than convenient. People don’t get into fantasy video games because they love work; they get into fantasy video games for an escape from reality. I don’t want to worry about blizzard “surprising” me with more work I don’t want; that’s exactly why I pay them: to do the work for me, not take my money and create more work for me.

2004, vanilla WoW: can log on and immediately unlock my chat box, move it around freely and make it larger or smaller nice and quick. Now, I can’t even figure out how to do that after entering “edit mode” which I have to enter every time I want to make a little change to my chatbox which doesn’t include being able to expand and compress it as I choose.

Great job going BACKWARDS and making the game LESS advanced than the 2004 original bliz, real smart.

When I log in I don’t want to do a bunch of nuisance busywork moving bars around and such, configuring UI boxes, or dealing with a bunch of brand-new “LUA” errors ( ), repeating the UI process on alts, etc… I just want to play and enjoy whatever content I’m doing

The old stock UI was exactly that, plug-and-play… I logged in regardless of the alt and “just jumped in and played”, no work or “configuring” a UI needed. I already knew where all my keybinds were and everything was neatly arranged on the basic (but functional) 4-5 action bars provided by the stock UI

Go into Edit Mode. On the screen. find the drop down menu in the bottom left. Click Classic UI mode. Save. Done. Boom. Old UI. Slightly different art but old UI.

I’ve never had any other UI. My bars are all where they were, so were the target icons when I switched. Only thing I did was remove the bar art, shrink my buttons a little bit and then ui scaled it because I’m half blind.

Weird, when I re-enable my addons, my exact same UI comes back.
