WARNING! No way to get your old UI back

Someone says losing their mind over a forums post, lel.

Default UI should be brought back for those that want it, Blizzard should stop trying to make people spend a bunch of time ‘fixing’ their UI’s when they were happy with how it was before. It reminds me of RS3 and it’s awful UI system. Default UI is now trash.

I played with blizzard UI and no addons before.

I play with blizzard UI and no addons now.

My UI essentially looks the same now as it did before, took me like 10 minutes. You could also import someone else’s and cut that time down to 30 sec.

Not seeing what all the fuss is about.

There is a box/button on the toolbar with the dragons that says “hide bar art” check it and that problem is GONE!

edit mode >action bar 1 >hide bar art

Just doing my part and saying as it is, majority of the players do not play with the default ui. And most of the players that are complaining don’t even use the default ui to begin with.

If you happen to be upset and used the default ui, get over it, wasn’t talking to you in the first place.

How could you possibly know what the “majority” of players do/use, or don’t?

People who make such ridiculous claims are just telling us they don’t really know anything and their comments should be dismissed.

You must be fun at parties. Imagine not liking the ability to have more customization.

There is a way to get as close to the old UI back as possible because I am looking at the old right now. Answer is bartender4 it is a UI add on from curseforge and they have three classic presets that look and feel just like the old UI.

Sorry, I just happened to notice this after
SO, by default the stance bar BOX will ALWAYS (as of this writing) check itself when you open edit mode, so make sure the box that causes it appear is UNCHECKED BEFORE YOU SAVE your settings. This will eliminate it from the get go and save you from accidentally saving it with the adjusted settings

Yeah, can you believe that!? Imagine someone not “liking” what you claim to like.
The audacity!

that is not the case with all add-ons, though… I was using dominos prior to the UI update to move my bars and hide talking heads…

The new UI doesn’t allow me to move my bag bar or micro menu, so I still need an addon for that (and dominos isn’t getting anymore updates), so I have to use bartender…then i also need a second add-on to hide the talking heads

So this new UI update caused me to use two addons instead of one.

The problem is that basically everyone already had all the customization that they wanted with addons that worked just fine…now the new blizzard UI update has broken a lot of those addons (some authors have decided to stop work on their addons such as dominos), so people actually have less customization.

I hear AARP is going to have a big story on this in their next newsletter. Several local nursing homes had “disturbances” linked to this new UI.

you copy/pasted two folders and everything was transferred, interface folder and WTF folder.

and i am willing to bet the new UI is not platform transfer friendly.

Hopefully this isn’t annoying, but for people who are curious as to how to set up the UI like this, I have mine set up in a similar manner. First, in the HUD Edit Mode window, change the Layout: to Classic. If you, like me, had all of your action bars enabled before the UI switch, then the bar on the bottom right should be the topmost of the three at the bottom. I also had the second horizontal bar enabled, so i just clicked on the topmost bar and then moved it over to the right, set the number of rows to 2 (a window for editing the action bars should appear when you click on a bar), and lined it up on the right side of the two horizontal bars. If you click on the lowest horizontal bar, there should appear an option to hide the bar art. Unfortunately, there is not a way to dock the 2-row bar to the right side of the main bar, which means if you don’t disable the art, it overlaps. Very annoying, but it’s not the old art, so eh, oh well.

It did not take hours to figure out the how to use the UI, or set it up. Which is god awful in my opinion. What took hours was every time I log in and out it would not save the setup. No matter what I would do. I did finally fix the problem. You however don’t know me so don’t belittle me, when you don’t know the whole situation. Read the whole post not just an excerpt. Thank you

What is with people and acting like it’s the end of the world with the new UI?

Did you like the fact you couldn’t move things and customize?
Did you like having the screen feel claustrophobic?

What was it about the old UI that made you like it so much anyway?

I actually know people in WoW who said that Transmog was the death of WoW because now you can’t find out who is or isn’t a threat based on their gear; they’re all epic now.

They also said looking like a clown with piecemail armor was basically a ‘tradition’.

I can’t stand the skinny font on the action bar or in chat. My Addons to use bold text no longer works. I hate this crap.

Yes this attitude was common back in 2019. There was a period of Classic mania where people swore up and down that absolutely everything was objectively better in Classic v.s. modern WoW. Nixxiom put on a “fair and balanced” tone as he said unironically that he can’t think of a single thing modern WoW does better, and Asmongold of all people was trying to explain why transmog was bad for the game using the same argument you said here.
