I think they should be their own class as well but if the only way we can ever get a “playable” Necromancer is by compromising and including “class skins”? I’ll take that.
Just go to the gamepedia for WoW and look at what it says about necromancers, and go from there and see what could work I guess.
Didn’t stop Arthas from raising Bolvar.
I think making unholy play like demo would be better. But dark ranger would fit in with the next expac.
And bolvar got gimped lol. Why you don’t res destroyed bodies.
If you really wanted power, you would be sneaking around in the shadows and stabbing people with daggers in the kidney
Not really. Disc plays nothing like the spec I’m offering as a suggestion. Disc is all about setting up healing targets and buff/debuff manipulation. The drain healer I’m suggesting would be about the resource bar manipulation, finding the right balance of offense and defense to keep your Anima economy rolling and flowing to the fights.
Death Knights are necromancers.
Yeah I think what happened to locks when DHs were added would pale in comparison to the ruin inflicted upon DKs if necromancers were added as a separate class.
Hmm, interesting. Although it seems we are just getting revamped DK’s this expac. A missed opportunity for Blizzard I guess…
True, enough.
I didn’t see Arthas throwing around giant broken shards of glaciers.
Eugh. Nothing worse than those cowardly Rogues. No power is worth having if it means having to be like one of them.
Copying and pasting Demonology onto Unholy would be terrible for both Warlocks and Death Knights. As I said, revamping them to have their own defined style and using what they take out of it to craft Necromancers would be great for both parties.
No. As in an explicit by the lore, no.
Death Knights use Death based Runic magic, primarily to enhance weapon strikes and for melee battle magic. An Unholy Death Knight is nowhere NEAR the level of necromancy a dedicated Necromancer would be. If Khadgar decided to turn Cult of the Damned, the feats he would be able to preform would dwarf any act of Necromancy we’ve see, except maybe the resurrection of Sindragosa.
A Necromancer uses mana and anima as a fuel source. Death Knights use Runic magic.
I didn’t see the whole world sh*tting their pants Bolvar was alive as the Lich King in Icecrown. Azeroth was like meh he can’t hurt no body leave em be.
They got wands of necromancy.
What are they going to do, keep killing everyone that puts on the helmet? Or let the Scourge run amok?
By the definition of necromancy, yes.
Why is this relevant? Death magic is necromancy. Death Knights use death magic.
Those warlocks didn’t have dots, fear, pets, all wrapped into one. That’s like saying DH’s are based on their WC3 equivalent. They almost are entirely different. Illidan didn’t have a dash and our Meta doesn’t have a ranged attacks like his does. In fact, the only similarity we have with Illidans DH from WC3 is immolation (and it was only recently given to Havoc DH’s this expansion).
No, Warlocks in this game have their lore based around Warcraft, but their class abilities in Classic were more attuned with Necros from EQ.
Necro’s already exist tho they just aren’t a playable class. They both exist they can’t be the same.
If necromancers were to exist their 3 trees would most likely be something like this.
Plague Mastery/Death Magic/(Insert name of summoning/raising spec)
edit: Yes that is basically tearing the Unholy tree apart.
