fixed that for you.
they can add crap-tons of new pets for hunters, new tier-sets every raid, new spell-effects and all-sorts of toys that change our appearances all the time, but god forbid we keep our observers…
Oh for sure, but the excuse at the time was “Don’t blame us, blame [players we just made up]”. Stating they decided not to do a full remake because it’d upset “purists”. Which was a total fabrication, but the community ran with it and started fighting itself because we love to fight.
oh right… i forgot they said that about reforged… been a long while since all of that went down.
Huh?
Warlocks work with demonic energy and transform all the time. Many of the Demons that we interact with are people of various races who’ve been transformed over time through consorting with Fel energy. Archimonde and Kil’Jaeden kinda looked like very different people before they started working with demonic energy, and we’ve seen their in-game “pre” models. Orcs as an entire race were transformed by exposure to Fel energy, even the clans and people who didn’t personally wield Fel magic.
The idea of Warlocks being able to transform, or have a Metamorphosis, is reinforced in several ways in the game’s lore. On top of that, it’s a pretty logical action to take from a character who studies and controls demons - at some point, at least some people would be like “Why should I rely on these stupid servant beings who are out to backstab me, when I can just asbord their power and do it myself?”
The whole DH transform, eye-gouging, only DH’s use Warglaives, blah blah, are all arbitrary constructs that, if anything, contradict other established lore. The purpose of all that nonsense of course was simply gimmicks and rule-of-cool.
I hope we will keep the Shivarra and Wrathguard glyphs. We know what these demons do so it’s not confusing at all.

They can disable buffs and effects in instances.
They can disable shape shifts with mounting.
They should just disable glyphs in pvp instances. Boom, consistent silhouettes. Or add it into customization and disable that in pvp.
No one cares about consistent silhouettes in world pvp since it all consists of ganking anyway.
Giving the WC3 Illidan style meta to demon hunters was the right call but I always thought it’d be cool for locks to get their own style of metamorphosis. Sorta like what Gul’dan pulls at the end of nighthold.
The Devs must be the absolute dumbest PvPers in existence because they keep using this same bull crap excuse for the lack of customization. No actual PvPer is confused by the Observers, just the moronic developers are.
Patch 10.2: “We have decided to give Demon Hunters an updated version of the Observer demon”
They really don’t want you to play Demonology.
Holinka’s final troll as he saunters out the HQ door with middle fingers held high?
I have seen someone get yelled at for having the observer out when the person yelling just had no idea what it actually did.
That said I don’t find that a valid reason to get rid of it. Like someone else said, explain hunter pets then. I don’t even need to go into how terrible it would be if every ferocity pet needed a cat outline, for instance.
The reason is weak, the action is stupid and double standard. Add more customization but removing this.
More changes over “pvp”. Which I doubt it’s really an issue. Blizz just wants to offer less to lock pets while hunters can tame countless pets.
If they are worried about pvp, why not just disable to cosmetic in pvp?
Hmm… New class that has an Observer pet incoming…
I’m tired, boss.
I don’t even have the energy to complain about how retarded those decisions are.
They are probably coming for our wrathguard and shivarra next week.
This is sad.
Blizz uses this nonsense excuse for why we can’t transmog other armor types we can’t wear. (Clothies in plate for example)
They think we’re too stupid to recognize that a mage is a mage and not a paladin.
We can run around in nothing but our pants and no other clothing. Identifying classes by their silhouettes isn’t the issue.
If you don’t know that Felhunters can transmog to a Gazer, then you don’t really care enough to know what it can do anyway. Changing what it looks like doesn’t change what it does. And it doesn’t change the fact that you can still identify it in pvp.
Tbf, hunters have to use a ferocity for access to lust. And something with a ms effect to min/max for pve. Pvp is even more restrictive. We’re forced to use a raptor or undead raptor or i think 1 or 2 other cunning options with ms.
Just sayin. It sucks locks are losing a cosmetic glyph. I feel for you guys. But saying hunters have unlimited potential is hyperbole.
Probably because he has a butthole on his back.
