Currently leveling a warlock. Level 47 ATM going towards a UA affi build. I was wondering how much faster or slower the affi variants are than felguard builds for leveling specifically from now to 60 at least for the moment.
Would also love to hear how it compares from 60-70.
I’d like to be playing felguard if the speed difference isn’t immense, because at the end of the day I like to play as optimal as possible but I have a soft spot for felguard so if the difference isn’t huge I’d like to play it before I spend an entire xpac as destro and SL/SL.
Thanks in advance.
Felguard is widely considered the de-facto TBC leveling spec. It’s also not half bad PvE DPS for your heroic dungeon grinding for pre-raid BiS.

I’m curious how felguard spec is in leveling… and destro (fire) as well

Awesome. I’ll probably switch over to a felguard spec at 50 or so. Thanks for the response.
Felguard is ez mode for leveling and pvp.

I’m more likely to play SL/SL for pvp cause I really like rot gameplay in pvp. I am very much a fan of felguard in pve though!
SL/SL is very good but bear in mind we are getting the patch 2.4 nerfed version of soul link. Still good, but not God mode.

Yeah, I just like the playstyle

Drain tank spec until Felguard then Felguard until 70

What is the nerfed version?
I don’t remember much of TBC
Oh. I didn’t know it got nerfed. Then again I didn’t start my wow career until late TBC
That still seems really good though
Affliction used to be the way to go and still is… right up until you can get a felguard (50). Then you just spec into that and let him kill everything for you. Destruction is generally just crap for leveling until LK.

Awesome. That’s exactly the answer I was hoping for tbh. Cheers.

Felguard is slower. Its recommended for newer players and people who dont know warlocks all too well. UA is fastest and considered the better leveling spec. If you want one that is also quite good and has very little down time then you do a mix of Aff/Demo so you can get sacrifice to sac your void for the extra health. Low down time and lets you chain pull a lot. The UA build is built around instant aoe fear…if you can handle pulling big amounts at a time and are familiar with the spec it is the fastest

Yeah, I’m pretty familiar with mage AoE farming and the lock affi playstyle so I likely would be able to benefit from the UA fear build but I think I’m gonna go felguard. Purely for fun. If the speed decrease is significant I may switch back, but I want to at least give felguard a go.
I know of the sac build, but something about the sac playstyle doesn’t feel right to me. Not sure what, but yeah.
Thanks for the info! Worse comes to worse and if I’m running out of time to get to 60 I’ll swap back to UA and go zoom zoom. Cheers.
well sac build is just no maintenance at all. no worry of pets and you get constant health so in turn constant mana, thus the no down time for hours.
Felguard is ok if you do some dungeons since Aff wont do well in dungeons…but will suck in wpvp, not sure why people even recommending it for pvp lol.
Actually now that i think of it, ill just link you the warlock discord and you can join in there and talk with more people on the subject and see some videos:

I actually find drain tanking more engaging bc of the juggling but at lvl 50 I switched to felguard spec so I can relax more. Finding it a perfect balance honestly
Thanks! I’m on a pve server and am only interested in instanced pvp so that’s not a huge concern. Yeah, I see the benefit of sac build I just like my pets too much haha. I think I’m just trying to get in as much non meta play as I can before tbc starts haha.
Thanks for the links. Cheers.
