Warcraft on Xbox: coming soon?

Not just the devs, but the console maker as well.

Granted in this case with Xbox specifically it would be streamlined.

im pretty sure you can download and install 3rd party applications on xbox. xiv has proved that you can have an mmo that plays just fine with a controller. there also exist quite a few gamers who already play wow on a controller on their pc, and also people playing it on their steamdeck with no mkb

Add ons are different.

Every game that has mods that I am aware of, are all official ones vetted from the devs and microsoft/sony

WoW on consoles… I hope not.
WoW included with Gamepass Ultimate subscription… Yes please.

Given that WoW (in Australia) is going to be more expensive than a Gamepass Ultimate sub, I’d rather pay Microsoft through that system than having to pay 2 subs, one of which isn’t worth the money (Take a guess which one, and it isn’t Gamepass)

I remember people discussing the idea, but it was just people worried what Microsoft might do lol. Nothing in the slightest from the company itself.

Say you use all 4 top buttons and each direction on the :heavy_plus_sign: and count that as 8 buttons then say assign Ctrl, Alt and Shift to 3 of the buttons on the front of the controller . So 8 separate additional commands per modifier that would be 36 separate abilities.

Or option 2 is just hook up a keyboard and moust to the console since newer ones like the XBox series and PS5 are set up for them . This would prety much just turn the consol into a desktop for the game .

Yeah, but using that kind of controller setup would be rough. Also how are you going to accurately target mobs in a pack? Tab targeting isn’t even great at times, so how are you going to specifically target enemies within packs?

Google “Blizzard says it ‘still talks’ about a console version of World of Warcraft”

I promise you, both for monetary reasons and competitive reasons, Blizzard have every intention long term to get this game on console. Same with HotS which is also on its way to Game Pass now and likely console later.

Do I think WoW on console is ridiculous? Yeah kind of. But at the same time we just saw late last year that someone got the M+ mount as a Tank from exclusively using controller. So PvE is clearly not challenging enough to invalidate a controller.

What would likely happen is potential console-only servers unless specifically partying with friends. So that input-wise there’s a level playing field. Idk.

Give it a few more years, as much as the gamer in me sees it as blasphemy, so did the idea of a WoW battle royale once upon a time, but here we are

I imagine they’d borrow the many good ideas from several of the top rated controller AddOns and bake it into the game along with QOL features.

Also, I know we’re all thinking specifically about an xbox controller right now, but you’d be surprised how good WoW actually feels when playing it with a Steam Controller. Xbox is rumoured to be partnering with Steam in the next year or two, so logic would suggest the Steam Controller 2 that is on its way could be xbox compatible. That controller makes mouse-based gaming a total breeze

Look at how many hotbars you have on WoW. Then look at how many buttons are there in a controller. Would you rather have controller to scroll the pointer instead of a mouse?

Diablo3 is a pc game. It has less hotbars, so in Diablo4, they made it into a console game. They made targetting autotarget in console. I hate it. They dumb it down. I prefer playing Diablo4 with mouse on my pc.

They have to dumb down WoW controls to make it work on console. And i dont like that.

Its been 20 years.

They are running out of “long term”

Ugh, being limited to a stupid game system when I can have the best graphics on PC and be faster than any game system player? Huh… I won’t be a scrub anymore, the xbox players will be the lesser now, lesser than warlocks! YES! YES!

To be honest I don’t think most people do anything other then hitting tab until it marks the target they actually want and tab could be atached to the 4th remaing button on the front but like I said there is always option 2

I don’t know why I am repeating myself but in hope that it clicks…

Xbox can plug and play keyboard and mouse and can be set up for players to configure it to play. FFXIV has an option when you create a character whether you want to play on a controller or mouse/keyboard setup. I also used (personally) a K/M setup for War Thunder on Xbox. Controller usage would be difficult as you have more abilities than you have buttons.

Addons would not be difficult and isn’t Curseforge heavily monitored by Blizzard already? Skyrim and Fallout 4 are two good examples.

In the end, it’s speculation. The articles were opinion articles. A nice thought but Blizzard did not say anything on this in the end.

No you don’t use the 4 buttons like XYBA on a xbox contoller and each direction on :heavy_plus_sign: as 4 more and you have 8 abilities.

Now assign 3 of the 4 front buttons on the controller as modifiers (Shift, ALtand CTRL)

No assign each of these modifiers to the above mantioned 8 (XYBA & :heavy_plus_sign:) and you get 8 more abillities per modifier making it 32 abilities .

Most people don’t even use that many to begin with .

This was never said by anyone. It’s also never happening

Big M is in charge now and I assure they intend to exhaust every option possible if it means making back that $70 billion a little faster. We’re already getting rumours of HotS coming to Game Pass now. Nothing’s off the table

Would i want that? Memorize all modifiers? Or lay all the hotbars on my screen? I prefer the latter… more comvenient and way easier.

I already have almost 20 years of key bind muscle memory on a keyboard and mouse. I’m not entirely certain I want to relearn it on a controller. I don’t mind if other people want it on console, but I personally wouldn’t play it.

I said this in another thread, but I think plunderstorm is them testing this idea to some degree. Make a server version that uses the WOW world but have the combat system behave largely like plunderstorm. Would work very well for consoles.

Tennis for Two

Released as a tech demo in 1958 by William Higinbotham Tennis for Two is arguably the first computer game ever created simply for entertainment. The game recreated a tennis match seeing from the side, where two players would compete against each other. The game was played by an aluminum controllers that had a button that hit the ball and a knob that adjusted the angle of the ball.

Video games infact started on computers.
