Warbands Are Not What I Expected

They are awesome i can now easily gear and send gold and items to alts.

They never said that so thats a you issue for having thay expectation. They said very clearly what warband was.

World questions world bosses etc. Arent instenced and there is casual guilds that focus on that just look for them. I think one is namedthe avdenture company or something like that.

It was never the core gameplay. Classic was dungeons and raids. BC was dungeons and raids WoTLK was dungeons and raids. Nothing has change other then the endless leveling grind and tedious chores being removed. To me it sounds like you might just want to go to classic retail might not be for you mate no offense

Why doesn’t Story Mode Ansurek complete all sojourning and fully gear my character for me? It’s a story mode raid boss so I assumed I was completing the story and raiding.

This was never stated anywhere. Ever.

What? :dracthyr_hehe_animated: It was very obviously only ever just a rebrand of what we’ve already had which is just account-wide functionalities. Everybody posting screenshots of their 4 favorites going “this is my warband!!” when it’s…just…acc-wide features.

Same. The early articles I read definitely made it sound like we were going to be able to take 5 of our own toons into a dungeon. I was very excited. But alas.

I do have to disagree with you about open world though. Its hard enough doing things half the time with people just using one char, muchless 5. :laughing:

Because it was hinted at by Holly Longdale herself.

I am confused. Do you instead mean that Warbands are not what you wanted? Because, they were very clear on what Warbands would be. What features they would have and not have at launch for them. The notes were pretty clear that the main intent of Warbands would be for account wide rep/achievements/warbank ect. Then they would be displayed as basically a splash screen with some of your chars sitting around a fire.

The key feature of Warbands was always making things account wide, which is what players have been asking for, for ages. So if you expected that, Warbands would basically turn your army of alts into and army of NPC’s you could play with and run follower dungeons with, I am not sure where that expectation came from.

They may flesh out Warbands in that way, but they have not said anything about even a hint of plans to do so, so I wouldnt get your hopes up for that any time soon. Player Housing is the next big thing.

There is a ton of world stuff to do. All the little rep, pet and mount grinds. Mini events. Rare hunting ect. You can do content to farm veteran gear, which you can turn into Tier pieces. The issue is that if you do any group based content, your character progression will drastically outpace any world content. Including delves. So essentially World content becomes easy, cosmetic content.

For better or for worse thats is the direction Retail WoW has gone. If you want that World Content Progression, then look to Hardcore Classic. I have been playing that, and it is very much world based. Every single drop, or quest has the potential to be an upgrade. There are people out and about to interact with. And there is always endorphin rushes for close calls, and dopamine hits for drops.

The reason is plain and simple. The Leveling Journey is the content there. In retail, the leveling content is torn through at breakneck speed, to get to the content you can get gear from. Character progression begins at max level in retail. Character progression is the leveling journey in Hardcore Classic.

They are two different games. And I dont think Retail will ever go back to that.

Yeah, IIRC, it was to Taliesin, while he was at an event, playing some version of a Follower Dungeon, and she asked, “What if those were your alts? Wouldn’t that be cool?” or some such question.

So they are planning to be able to include your warband characters in follower dungeons and perhaps delves. They’ve expressed interest in it, which means they’re probably currently working on it.

As for having a follower in the open world, open world content is already incredibly easy. and is meant to be completed by everyone. So there would need to be one of two possibilities here

  1. Your warband follower is so weak that it doesn’t matter if you bring them
  2. World content would need to be made significantly harder so taking a follower is necessary

Why would you assume this when nothing like this was ever discussed?

Agreed. That was exactly it. I was just making the point that the concept was out in the ether. So you could understand how people could be mistaken.

Hints doesn’t mean they actually said it. From what the devs said, nothing even came close to me thinking such a thing was going to happen.

I literally included the link where it was talked about. Was it 100%, gold seal confirmation? No, not even close. But the concept was mentioned at a Blizzard event by Holly Longdale herself. So you can see the confusion.

my WotLK box clearly shows helicopter combat in winter grasp. I never got this feature and I want my money back.

The link is to a forum post on wowhead. That isn’t an actual real thing from the devs. Good speculation but not something the devs ever said might be coming.

It was podcasters saying wouldn’t it be cool and the person in charge going “hmm”.

We’re just making the point that rumors start somewhere. And people can be forgiven for misremembering things.

I think the term “warbands” oversells it and gives the impression of some form of combat with your alts. But being able to share almost everything account wide is by far one of the best QoL features this game has ever had so no complaints here.
