Want to Multibox, but don't know the rules

Why would the answer be different just because you tried to be clever by changing the keybinding?

If you are doing more than one thing at a time when you hit a key it is considered automation.

Switching focus AND casting fireball as one key press is not allowed.

“Is it fine to use the R key to both cast a spell and swap windows at the same time?”
Answer: “No”

“What if I use the alt-tab key to do it instead?”

Yeah, it is time to go do some farming in game, feed the kitties, and make some coffee!

What you’re describing is automation, because you are using settings to streamline the casting of abilities in different windows. Your “way” requires fewer keypresses than pressing fireball, manually switching windows, and pressing fireball again. You cannot do this.

If you plan to do the same actions that got your account action before, I don’t know what to tell you besides the quote of “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”

Agreed, leaving this thread open is probably no longer productive.

So basically as long as I make it two keystrokes. Would it be fair I change the key binding to alt-tab then just to one key instead and do the above method I suggested ?

Fireball ( R ) then mousebutton 5 ( alt-tab ) then Fireball ( R ) ?
No automation, just changing a binding of my local OS.

Can we please answer the below as well if possible ?

  1. Am I allowed to use the add on Mama ( I asked if this was a contributing factor and still don’t know ) and dynamic boxer. Can addon’s lead to bans ? I like the functionality of the /click MamaAssist.

  2. I have a main account with every collector’s edition and extremely happy I didn’t get that account banned even more so with the above response after being a 20 year customer. If I do this again, is it okay for me to just use a second account entirely as clearly the rules are a bit difficult and vague and don’t want to risk my main account being banned. Or would my computer be considered a repeat offender and all accounts attached to my PC get banned ?

  3. is there any means/support to get my setup approved to prevent this kind of thing occuring again ?

I think everyone has been very patient trying to save them from getting another WoW account banned.
@OP, I hope we don’t see another post from you in a few months about how you got banned again. Please consider what people have said here and keep your account safe!
My best advice to you is just drop the whole multi boxing idea completely. Just don’t do it because it’s obvious to me you don’t know how to do it safely to stay within the rules.

Oh I’m going to multi-box, hopefully some people can just be helpful and help me get to a working understand. I’ve given an example above nobody has answered. Nor answered my other questions.

  1. I don’t know if addon’s can get me banned still.
  2. If I’m multiboxing on my PC separate from my main account does that put my main account at risk ?
  3. I’ve come to the conclusion after people have said blizzard doesn’t give any advice/have any support to directly assist anybody anymore. I will submit a new ticket and hopefully somebody can help me make sure I’m within the guide-lines.

I’m going to focus on this right here. That is your answer. Blizzard decided that too many people did not like how easy it was to multibox with all the automation software so they decided to make it as hard as possible. I’ve taken it down to one other toon to multibox with as setting up more then that is near impossible by doing everything manually.

Blizzard wants multiboxing to be manual for each account. No windows setups to make it easy, no outside software, no weird keybindings that make it easy, just one button one action for each account.

I’m not saying you can’t have keybindings or macros in game for each account because you can but setting up more then 1 to multibox is impossible now because you cannot manually switch accounts fast enough to do what you want.

I’m sorry it’s not what you want to hear but its the reality of the situation.

When I use alt-tab, I also have to click which application/window I want to select. It doesn’t just cycle to the next one. So for me, it requires two actions, one of which requires moving my mouse to the selected window/app and then clicking. So technically, it’s three actions.

Also, and this is non-technical, but have you considered that Blizzard doesn’t want people multiboxing like this? That they’ve implemented these policy changes and are enforcing it very strictly precisely to stop the practice? For years, people have been railing against the “unfairness” of multiboxing and (relatively recently) Blizzard has changed their view and now agrees. If you want to run a main character through a dungeon or a quest chain and have another character on another account working the Auction House or doing some Crafting, that seems like the limit of what is within the spirit of fair play. Running multiple characters together in a party into combat does not seem within the spirit of fair play. And trying to get advice here on how to do what you want to do and not get flagged (again) isn’t going to be a guarantee. My advice, then, would be don’t engage in any sort of playstyle that seems to be against the spirit of fair play.

It’s just shocking why anybody would care what another individual is doing on a game when really has 0 impact on another person, that’s my personal take. If I was broadcasting/abusing some sort of farm mechanic sure I can see that impacting the economics of a market within a game, but not in large as only a handful of people would do this. Bot farms are a different can of fish, they aren’t engaging in content if youre suggesting they are in the same boat.

In the description for Dynamic Boxer is a link for third party software.
Do you think third party software is allowed?

Well you can ask the questions, but it sounds like you’re not willing to accept the answers.
So good luck to you out there.

What do you honestly think we have been doing? That is all we have been trying to do.

And this is why you will run into trouble because you refuse to accept that the rules extend well beyond that now.

We are not talking about bots either.

No streamlining means no streamlining.

Well I agree with this alot, like clearly they want to make it difficult, but at the same time people like myself have no interest in getting banned and want to play within the rules. I don’t think it’s unfair for me to ask “hey will this get me in trouble”

No such thing as stupid questions just stupid answers, and I’m getting answers and I’m changing my scenario each time I haven’t restated oh you’re wrong or anything like some people are suggesting, I’m giving scenarios and people are giving their opinions.

Ultimately, it doesn’t matter what other players think, or if they are. Blizzard decided no streamlining, and they define what streamlining is, and it’s VERY broad.

I think you’ve came into this conversation with the wrong spirit from the beginning as I had to highlight to you above. I am trying to enhance my understanding, nobody has to stay / be apart of this conversation if they don’t wish to.

That isn’t my question but, I’m asking if the addon itself can get you banned, I have no interest in the third party software after my recent unexplained ban.

Sure about that?

Very early on you certainly did - to a forum MVP.
