Okay my first post went terribly, and hoping somehow I can get some legitimate advice on how I’m able to multi-box, I attempted to get information from my ticket and got hit with the following:
“Please note that, because we have reviewed our actions and verified them to be correct, we consider this matter closed and have no intention of discussing it again. Additional tickets/appeals regarding this topic will be considered spam, as we’ve made it clear with this communication that the decision is final.”
Only 2/5 of my accounts got banned and its been a few days now I can assume other accounts are safe. I am literally seeking advice if I can from customer service support, please don’t assume or make your own thoughts on multi-boxing policies, somebody who has direct experience with some guidance from some authority who has stated clear guidelines. Regardless I’m going to move forward and start up again fresh, I’m hoping I can get some information about the rules at least so I don’t hit these walls again.
I have read now third party software cannot be used to streamline, this is a new policy and believe this is the reason I may have been banned, I’ve over stated now how I am confused only 2/5 got banned, but either way . Am I able to use a keyboard with macros to window focus ( or is this considered stream lining ). Or would I be able to change windows settings to enable me to do this via F keys.
Am I allowed to use the add on Mama ( I asked if this was a contributing factor and still don’t know ) and dynamic boxer. Can addon’s lead to bans ?
I have a main account with every collector’s edition and extremely happy I didn’t get that account banned even more so with the above response after being a 20 year customer. If I do this again, is it okay for me to just use a second account entirely as clearly the rules are a bit difficult and vague and don’t want to risk my main account being banned. Or would my computer be considered a repeat offender and all accounts attached to my PC get banned ?
is there any means/support to get my setup approved to prevent this kind of thing occuring again ?
Please don’t suggest I’m trying to “get around the rules” I am trying to understand the rules and the code of conduct link provided only states the following:
" Cheating
You are responsible for how you and your account are represented in the game world. Cheating in any fashion will result in immediate action. Using third-party programs to automate any facet of the game, exploiting bugs, or engaging in any activity that grants an unfair advantage is considered cheating.
Exploiting other players is an equally serious offense. Scamming, account sharing, win-trading, and anything else that may degrade the gaming experience for other players will receive harsh penalties."
Again none of my game-play was by any means automated, streamlined is arguable as I can again do this all locally and intend on doing so if I’m permitted to do so. The software did nothing besides set up what I can do locally.
Here is the big thing. You can’t use ANYTHING at all that will streamline the process one bit. No using Windows settings that change mouse focus automatically. No using any software that directs keystrokes to different windows. No using a “round robin” system that one popular piece of software uses to change window focus automatically.
EVERYTHING must be completely manual. You must switch windows manually, using alt-tab or something like that.
Btw, the “no streamlining” policy is several years old now. I guess it’s new if you take into context how long the game has been around and how long it didn’t have such rules.
If you use ANYTHING to assist you in any way, that is against the rules for multiboxing. No hardware, no software, no home made keyboard tapping device sitting on your desk.
Do not do anything at all or use anything at all. You can manually switch between game instances yourself. You can use the follow command in game.
That is it. Having your team casting and performing actions in synch due to software or hardware that may assist or streamline it is likely to get you penalized.
Not really, no. The policy has been in effect since early 2021.
I’ve stated some clear questions around how I can do that and this hasn’t answered any I’m afraid.
I want to know if I can make my local operating system just change the key for alt-tab to my keybindings, this isn’t software, this is my local operating system. Windows has buttons to make managing screen sizes of windows manageable and used while playing world of warcraft and like watching youtube, so I don’t believe this would be software stream lining my engagement with the game/cheating.
This is incorrect, they have had policies about broadcasting software, broadcasting is 100% a breach in ToS and not something I did this was back in 2021. I believe stream lining is new, Streamlining is most likely what flagged me again, I don’t know, but I didn’t broadcast any keystrokes, I hit my keys five times to get five inputs.
One thing I neglected to mention: Anything that goes in WOW’s addons folder is fine. Addons use Blizzard’s sandbox, and only have access to functions that Blizzard allows addons to access. It’s impossible to break the rules with addons (well, barring things like violating the chat rules with spamming or profanity).
Alot of people change their local key binds for their computer ? Like alt f4 for my is ctrl delete as I program and that’s how I kill scripts in Python.
This is neither this is my local operating system key bind preference.
No, it’s not incorrect. The no streamlining rule was put in place early in Shadowlands. We are now 2 expansions later. You may have only become aware of it recently, but it’s not a new rule.
It is not new. I gave you the link to the post when the policy changed.
This is May 2021
You can not use anything at all.
Do not do this.
You can’t use anything at all to help you. Nothing. It does not matter if it is “local” or if you downloaded it. It does not matter if you build a hardware rig to tap 5 keyboards at once on your desk.
You can not use any assistance at all.
No, it is not when it was added. It was added in 2021 and is in the post I linked. Anyone here on CS who has been dealing with questions about the policy is VERY aware of when it changed.
Nope, the streamlining rule went into effect during Shadowlands. It’s not new. The article was updated to provide a link to a post that clarifies things, it did not change any rules.
Now that said, if you ONLY change the Windows keybind to swap between windows from alt-tab to something else, based on what I know, that should be ok, as long as you are still manually switching between windows. You cannot use software that changes window focus automatically.
Regardless if it’s not new, really not the advice I’m looking for.
My suggestion of my set up involves 0 software.
There would be 0 applications besides world of warcraft and my local functionality enabling me to alt-tab by a different key-stroke, I am hoping somebody from Blizzard can give me a clear " no this would be a breach in the rules " or " yes this is fine as long as no software can be detected outside your operating system "
You were already told no by Blizzard in the linked articles. Just because your local operating system, keyboard, mouse or anything else has the ability to streamline your multiboxing, does not mean you can use it.
Blizzard will never approve methods outside their games. They will only point you to the rules and tell you to read them again. The answer has been given.
Stop trying to manipulate the meaning of the rules - it does not have an exception for “local” things or “operating systems”.
That would be my intention, just remapping my alt-tab to my key bindings. Only changing how I engage with my local key-binds of my software, no application will set this up for me, all locally.
I really hope somebody from blizzard can advise if this is perfectly okay and I can set my PC up accordingly.
( I just round robin my keys for my casters and warrior stays 1-7, R T F G Z X C V B Q all become the same as alt-tab ), game still reads them as so, my PC then flips through the application on press. All my individual keys will be pressed via mouse through just mousing over.
“No software detected outside your operating system” isn’t good enough, you aren’t allows to use OS functions to streamline either. This includes things like functionality (which is available in Windows) that changes mouse focus by just moving the mouse over a window. That’s not allowed.
Now, with my knowledge, if the ONLY thing you do is change the keybind to something else, but you are still having to press it to manually swap between windows, it SHOULD be ok. There isn’t any rule that says it has to be alt-tab, that’s just the default. If you wanted to change it to ctrl-enter for example (making something up), I don’t see an issue with that. Changing it to one key that will rapidly cycle between them (without having to hold/select like alt tab) could potentially get you in trouble though. Alt tab lets you “cycle” but doesn’t change until you release alt.
Sorry but please re-read my post, I am trying to understand the rules, I don’t appreciate what you’re implying. If you have no interest in helping on this forum/post I would ask you don’t engage with it further. I am trying to understand the rules and clearly states use of all software, my local windows settings are my own and I have already stated I have changed mine and this doesn’t streamline or benefit any body besides myself and how I engage with my operating system. I believe this is a very fair question somebody from Blizzard can answer for me. Does my local operating system settings merit a “software mechanism” breach. As I’ve given an example where I’ve made changes and want to make further changes.
Sorry mate I’m confused.
See this is the grey area wher I need somebody from blizzard to give me a bit of guidance as you’re saying something different to the above party. And exactly the alt-tab function can be swapped to whatever and my input individually on that press then is that considered a software mechanism ban.
