dwarves attract the most annoying people OOC so they’re not going to get the same brainless hate. they’re going to be as intolerable as most orc RP’ers tho.

Normally I don’t come out until Winter Veil but I have to say, there is wonton dwarf hate in this thread and my naughty list is taking notice.

I’ve only been playing a dark iron since remix but I like cats and long walks in the snow and other fun, nice, not annoying things.
And maybe posting on all of my dwarf alts all at once but you didn’t hear me say that.

sorry but i’ve had such bad experiences with people who are too into dwarves. the main two i see: the ones that use dwarves to be sexist, queerphobic, and racist; good, pure shortstack fans that are just after thicc dwarf women (sometimes men, more common since dungeon meshi dropped).
if we can talk about Male Human Paladin and Male Orc Warrior, it’s time to talk about Racist Dwarf Caricature. It’s especially eye-roll inducing because dwarves don’t even act like that in wow canon.

I’m at a loss. Obviously this is your experience and I’m sorry it’s what you’ve seen but I’ve never, in all the years roleplaying in this game, seen any of this from Dwarf roleplayers.
I’ve been playing Gnomes and Dwarves since I started in 2009 and I’ve just never experienced it or even seen it.
Now, that’s my personal experience so it’s obviously different than yours and both are valid.
I’m just stunned to see anyone saying that Dwarf RP’ers are like this. I’ve never known any Dwarf RP’er to be like this and I’ve known and roleplayed with a ton of them.

I truly am sorry that this has been your experience. I can assure you that not all players who enjoy creating dwarf characters are like that. I have always played dwarves. To me, dwarves are loyal and honorable and willing to give the shirts off their backs to those in need.
On my old home realm, a place that I played for many years, a dwarf couldn’t go to any of the rare but well planned out server wide, cross-faction RP events without a distinctive group of players “/puking” in our laps. That was the totality of those player’s RP chops. To put it bluntly, it sucked.
When I came back to WoW after being gone since sometime during BfA, I went looking for a new realm to call home. I figured a fresh start was just what I needed. I found a popular realm, rolled another dwarf, and became interested in the game and RP scene again. After about 2 months on that new home realm I noticed a large chunk of its player base had a preoccupation with “/spitting” on dwarves. Again, that was the totality of their RP skills, or lack thereof. I left and decided to give WrA - Alliance a try even though it wasn’t as large. I have had nothing but good experiences here and haven’t looked back since rolling my first character here.
My point is simple. Those kind of bigoted, knuckleheads who dislike anybody who isn’t like them, have a bad tendency to conflate OOC with IC, or disguise their OOC with a very thin veil of RP, will never go away because Blizzard has never brought the hammer down on them.
Again, OP, I am sorry that you or anybody else has been treated in such a way. I wish more players would make a serious effort to not judge a book by its cover. In my limited time and experience here on WrA I am confident that the vast majority of players here are salt of the earth, good people.

You missed the Dwarven RPers from about…Cata? They had some serious human hate going on to the point that they’d change languages to talk about you while you were on a human character and trying to RP with them. Nothing more fun than being called a “pet humie” and worse when someone thinks they can get away with it. Then they’d ignore anything a non-Dwarf said to them and RP among themselves while still speaking Dwarven.
Those players aren’t here anymore. But they did happen. There have also been obnoxious Forsaken, obnoxious Orcs, obnoxious Humans and Obnoxious Blood Elves that I’ve run into that have been the same or worse. I’m not sure what it is that makes people RP like this.
OP, I think part of the reason Vulpera are getting hate now stems from alleged activities of one of the early Vulpera guilds who…went too far in portrayal. I’m not going to say more, but if you ask Trade Chat, someone will probably elaborate.

Would make the most sense that it happened during Cata. I’ve said before that was the one expac I was most distanced from and barely played for 6+ months. I’m sure it happened, I am not doubting it. I’m just really sorry to hear. It’s been my experience that the Dwarf community attracts pretty solid people. There’s always someone to spoil it, inevitably. I’m sorry she dealt with it.
Lord knows, I talk about the horrible experience I’ve had with Scarlet RP’ers and there’s always people wondering what I’m talking about. IYKYK.

WRA Is in this very difficult position on vulpera that seems to culminate from a variety of circumstances.
On the surface level you have in character racism and I admit that times I am perfectly capable of understanding that. you have a completely brand new race that was introduced and written in the expectation of being respected by blizzard, In terms of being a caravanning survivalist race that seems to just be completely handwaved by the majority of the vulpera playerbase.
“Furred goblin syndrome” Is what I like to call it when you have players who experienced the race as it was renewed. And just don’t see it reflected at all in the playerbase.
… And then you have the individuals who are part of that player base who do a very, very good job of making sure there’s very little to like about the players behind them with things that can be a simple as constant ooc in public rp areas, Lacking differentiation in in character and out of character (to the point of abusing blizzards report system for ic insults).
On wra In particular, there is a third faction that is very small and numbers. But incredibly vocal in trade chat that seems to relish in playing vulpera Explicitly to be obnoxious to the rest of the player base.
yeah i did most of my alliance RP on cata and I played a worgen back then. It’s also just a thing in a lot of D&D spaces, too. Dwarf RP’ers in D&D spaces can be. questionable.
I know there are good RP’ers of all types, tbh, and I like WoW’s dwarves. I have just had weird experiences. I’m glad things are changing.
