Vote to kick must be removed to new players

No they don’t since this community treats those like m+ too and still have no patience. Not to mention those were designed for max level players not newbies.

The community is flawed, full stop. It doesn’t need to be defended it needs to be overhauled.

OP didn’t say they had been kicked in those dungeons though.

Under normal circumstances I would agree with this but not when it comes to the WoW community at large. Putting a sprout on someone would be the same as painting a “troll me” bullseye on their forehead.

New player shouldn’t pick up MMO as old as this one and realize that wow is garbage

It is. It is literally a heroic dungeon.

It does not. It rewards heroic dungeon gear even to a level 70. The raid item quest is your carrot on a stick quest to entice you to do it and is not available to the sub 70 player. Did you never ask yourself why?

End game? WoD hasn’t been end game since half the people I raid with were in high school or younger. WoD content had been beginner learning content for years when BFA was released almost half a decade ago.

They actually do this, but you have to intentionally enable yourself to see it. And it is a murloc.

What are normal dungeons for then if not for beginners?

Timewalking dungeons are end game - they are tuned to be done by level 70s. Sure you get the odd other person in there but I am very doubtful that was OP’s friend since they were ‘excited’ about timewalking.

Obsolete vestigial difficulty setting. Now that the rush is over queue for it. I bet the wait time is atrocious. Even heroic is mostly a vestigial waste of time these days and more of a standard for timewalking. Eventually Blizzard will do something about this, but it isn’t a huge deal right now so they leave it alone.

Well you just told everyone you don’t know what they are, so let me tell you. Timewalking is NOT done by, nor tuned for, 70s. Ever. They are scaled content. Did you ever look at the ilvl of your equipped gear? You get scaled down to the appropriate character and gear level. Your character power is literally changed so that you will perform at roughly what someone at that level will.

There was even an issue with this early in the week that was totally invisible to me because I have a timewalking set of gear so the improper scaling didn’t matter enough for me to notice. In hindsight I must have done a lot of people a huge favor because I was pulling whole rooms in battle stance which I can just imagine how bad that would have gone with improperly scaled level 70 gear.

If you still think this is endgame content, why do you think you are scaled DOWN instead of other players scaled UP?

Welcome to wow, now teach your friend how important it is to have a google tab open 75% of her time in wow.

You can’t even do tw until lvl 60 and like 174 ilvl or something. If someone plays a character that long and still doesn’t even know rotation why should everyone else have to carry them? Learn to play. And i don’t mean that in an insulting way. Learn what needs to be learned and then try again.

Never seen a group of people like this wow community when it comes to rejection. It isn’t the end of the world and instead of always jumping to blame and change everyone and everything around you, try a little introspection and self improvement.

did a normal DF dungeon last week less than 5 min wait as DPS.

I worded that poorly - they adjust for a level 70 so they are still have a difficulty for level 70. And yes they scale level 70s down but people doing normal dungeons leveling up are not in there.

lol, haha, makes a timewalking set of gear for dungeons you claim are for beginners.

Because it scales you to the level of the expansion, you know so you can use that timewalking set… The only reward worth having is that end game quest.

In any case, anyone who hinders a group progress should be kicked. 4 people shouldn’t have to take twice as long to do content because someone is doing things that cause that.

New players are still funnelled through BFA content to begin with - so OP’s friend should have learned the basics there.

I have been saying they need to fix the vote-to-kick system, players are abusing it.

I dont even know why timewalking dgs must have hard mechs. Should just be a speed tank n spank and done, nobody is super excited in doing 12yo dgs.

I’ll just say this about Ragnaros. Most of the time idk if you guys are new or bots……and I’m all for kicking bots

They do have a mentor system and icons, but the problem is only mentors can see the new player icon. If someone becomes a mentor there is a Murloc symbol next to their name

Have you not seen the 800000000000000 threads recently where people complain tanks are too OP because they speed race through the dungeon and solo everything?

Tell her to try better next time. That individual instance is not particularly important. Impart to her the advice of “fake it til you make it”. If she wants to know why she was kicked, next time watch what the other players are doing and mirror that. They likely only noticed she wasn’t participating because she was off doing her own thing alone. This is the only scenario that can reliably generate kicks in timewalking content.

:open_mouth: REALLY?? I had no idea! I’ve never seen anyone with one before! How do I enable it?

You will have to pick one. Either it is level 70 difficulty, or it is scaled for a lower level.

You have fun your way I’ll have it mine. Most of what I have is from when the content is current, the rest is from mount farming. Why would I not keep and use my old borrowed power items in timewalking? You wish you had a legendary cloak already gemmed and enchanted and you know it.

I generally agree. I feel like votekicks exist to prevent a non-existent situation where someone is so bad that they somehow cannot complete heroic level content. Or situations where a troll is intentionally sabotaging a group. I think they should remove the feature. That, or votekicks should require group-wide consensus instead of just majority vote. As long as you have a tank and a healer being played by someone with -at least- the intelligence of a rat, or maybe a hamster, you can clear any queued content in the game.

LFR might be a different story, but I don’t really do LFR because it is boring to me. 99.999% of times though, when I see a votekick go out, I see it go out due to a genuine one time mistake that is often apologized for. Someone with no knowledge of the game will initiate a votekick, and everyone will follow suit because a lot of people doing normals or leveling dungeons are people who don’t know how the game works either. So they just see the votekick pop up, assume someone is somehow sabotaging the dungeon, and click yes.

This has happened several times to me. One time (literally on this character), I got kicked from the dungeon because a tank overpulled and died even though the group didn’t even wipe. The tank, I’m assuming, got mad and votekicked me even though he died an unpreventable death, where his health went from 100-0 inside of 3 seconds in Wailing Caverns back when the casters in that dungeon were accidentally ridiculously overtuned at the beginning of BFA. I would say 1/20 dungeons I queue for as a healer, I get unjustifiably kicked due to someone elses mistake.

And I know I’m not a bad player. At least not such a bad player that I prevent queued content on the level of normal and heroic from being cleared. I am pretty confident that it is always the error of another person. I have to say this because I know someone is going to come out of the woodwork and just assume I deserved every kick. But just look at my dungeon history from this season. I have completed every single dungeon on at least a 10 on Tyrannical difficulty (including Ruby Life Pools, Al’gethar, and a few others which are infamous for being hard on healers) at least two or three times.

So how must a new healer feel when they actually make a genuine mistake? How would they even tell? There was a bugged boss in Razorfen Kraul for several weeks after the Dragonflight prepatch that prevented groups from finishing the dungeon. I saw THREE HEALERS get kicked during this time, and was kicked on my tank during this time. The boss hit my level 30 tank for 40k. His health was probably around 20k.

And keep in mind, these are classic dungeons that new players can’t access anymore until they level a new character to max level at least once (iirc). Imagine how bad it is in BFA dungeons which are infamous for being difficult to complete.

It’s not the healers fault when something like that happens. But even if it is their fault, does a new player deserved to get kicked from a dungeon because of a wipe? Absolutely not. But I just know there are probably thousands of new players out there who try the game, get constantly kicked, flamed, and deserter debuffed for mistakes that are out of their control. I don’t think the kick option should exist. Period. At least in dungeons where a majority of only 3 people can get you booted.

And before someone says “then people would just intentionally ruin dungeons for fun”, you literally can right now. If you join a dungeon, and attempt 3-4 kicks in a row that don’t go through, it disables the kick feature in the dungeon. After that, you are free to troll to your hearts content. You know how I know that? I literally SAW it happen twice. In both instances, the troll got bored and left after 5 minutes. So the situation where this causes a disband is essentially nonexistent. And even if it was, that is only a problem because of the deserter debuff.
