You seem delightful! I don’t know why anyone would vote to kick you…
And you’re just being close minded about this, while simultaneously being rude to those who are giving you legitimate answers.
I even stated I didn’t like that the system gets abused. That’s not defending it. But nice try.
Chat logs and combat logs aren’t an accurate depiction of what happens in a dungeon for a person to be kicked. And even if it was for some situations, you think a company out to make money is going to spend millions more to hire people to work 24/7 to police dungeon runs so that you don’t get kicked?
Open your eyes and understand how companies and the world work, sir.
Like I said it is a pretty specific example. Usually people just vote kick whoever to get the pop out to disappear so it isn’t really hard to convince people to go along with whatever you want.
It is why people freaked right out and blizzard destroyed that addon that auto kicked BR realms.
Yeah, I think they drew a clear line in the sand with that one.
i.e. “You can be elitist about performance through things like raider io”
“You may NOT be elitist about things like geography or race”
Power to the players until its to much power then just go along with the 700ms because you live out in the woods…
I still don’t agree with that choice. I honestly think blizzard should be hiring people who fix their problems for them rather then punish them but that is a whole other topic…
People just go with the flow for the most part.
I think they might have allowed elitism-by-ping/latency.
… but not by realm, that’s not going to fly.
How is that not one and the same?
They should change it back to making players un-kickable during combat.
That’s probably open to abuse too, but this might be a case of choosing the lesser of two evils.
If their latency is causing the other group members to have a hard time, that’s legitimate, but unfortunate for the high-ping player.
If people automatically boot people from Ragnaros because they’re from Brazil, then that’s not on. Give them a chance to show they are crap before booting them.
Because, in practice, players were using it to avoid players with a higher percentage of brazillian players - rather than just ANY realm with latency.
They obviously can’t allow the first thing… and the addon wasn’t trying to do the second.
which just means the people who know they’re going to get kicked, will chain pull.
That doesn’t fix or help anything… it just makes things worse for 4 people, instead of one.
It is the server group that doesn’t belong with the others that brings about the high ping for people without good connections (I average about 200kbs). It made the game playable beyond a slide show.
It is a real prickly issue to talk about though. They DO NOT see shades of grey as to why players want something just black and white,
Well, what I’m saying is that if players wrote an addon that measured the ping of people who might be invited to the group - Blizzard might allow that.
… but they can’t and won’t really allow the “no brazillians” thing, for… well, the sensitive reasons you alluded to.
just let it roll off you shoulder and queue up again and have fun! Their lack of brain cells and social skills does not constitute a reaction worth your time! Have fun
That addon would do the exact same thing in practice… it isn’t a good solution to the problem to just kick the can down the road and make someone else take the hit for it.
It isn’t as if it vanished either it just requires a manual input now. Thankfully I haven’t actually ran a heroic dungeon beyond the first week and I don’t want to run lfr. Otherwise I would be forced to manually filter through people to play the game.
Like I said in my post above, it could be abused and it might be a case of choosing the lesser of two evils.
Well, I’m not really judging the appropriateness of it.
I’m just stating that, it seems to me, they were sending a message with it.
I don’t think kicking mid fight should be allowed. If someone stops fighting halfway through the fight, and the group doesn’t wipe, oh well. Give the person loot anyway, then kick them.
I also think another problem with Island Expedition design is the three man format, which makes it very easy to vote kick people for anything.
That they were… suffer for others and if you try to make it to easy to get out of we will crack down on it and destroy your ability to do so.
I don’t understand why they can’t just respect that servers in different locations are not meant to mingle. It is the same reason why EU and US realms can’t group. This weird double standard just creates strife.
Practically speaking, I mean if we cut through all the other ‘stuff’
I think it mostly comes down to internet pipes and scale. It’s worth it to have data centers in the EU for eu gaming. It may not be worth it for brazil to be it’s own region… not if the landlines to it are fast enough. They don’t have to go trans-oceanic cables or satellite like europe does. Europe would have much higher latency.
Course… then there’s Australia always complicating the narrative…

After putting them on ignore and reporting someone else in the group for promoting racism. I was kicked mid boss-fight for no reason.
So this is probably why you were kicked. They said something in the chat and you did not respond and most likely sent you another message and it confirmed you had them on ignore.
Did you tell the guy(s) that you were not interested in joining their guild in the chat so everyone could see it or did you just ignore them? Although they were not in the right by spewing any racist comments and that will most likely get them a ban if they were actually reported, you should have politely responded you were not interested. If it was only 2 of the people that you were having a problem, by you ignoring them they could have easily said something in the instance chat you could no longer read that may have been important to the run. No response = kick. Apparently whatever they put on the kick reason was enough for the random person to agree with and kick you.
Not defending them, but there is definitely something missing from this story.
