Void form is terrible on a mechanic level and the visuals of shadowform are bad overall. Swirling grape jelly? Sure. We love that.
You can just call me Gnome on a Shelf. 'Cuz that is where I am gonna be until void form is gone.
Since Priest has only one dps spec, it should be simple & straightforward.
Void Form, or a mechanic like it, should be given to a class with multiple dps specs.
this…has potential.
Void-form like balance druid. Don’t like it , hear the call of the cat druid. And priests gets a more consistent damage aspect to its DPS spec.
Sad news about Voidform.
Maybe this is leading up to a new class in whatever is after SL, like a Dark Ranger or Shadow Hunter class.
Remember when they forced players out of Demo when it still had Meta?
I mained a Shadow Priest for a long time on my EU account, including most of Legion. Void Form has been frustrating to play from the start because it’s a design that doesn’t work well in most of the game’s content.
I took my priest alt on this account to 120 recently, and it’s still like that, the gameplay feels awkward a lot of the time, basically anytime you are not fighting a boss, and even sometimes against bosses.
Priests having only one dps spec certainly makes it worse, and that’s one reason why I don’t play priest much anymore. Great class for healing, because you have a couple of options. The other main reason to play it is shadow, which has always had a strong following, and the 2 groups don’t necessarily overlap a lot. Some priests are there for shadow only.
The similarity to affliction isn’t a big deal, imho. I’ve always enjoyed playing both, and the playstyle/appeal of the 2 specs has always been pretty similar, without either spec being hurt by the connection.
The source of the issue is Void Form. It messes with the coolest thing about Shadow, which is Shadowform itself, turning it into a source of frustration.
I’m officially abandoning my priest… I just can’t handle this frustration anymore. This is not the spec i falled in love with.
the sky has been falling for 4 years. shadow priests have been very vocal about it since legion beta. blizzard even acknowledged voidform doesnt work in most content in a recent blue post.
they said in before bfa that they knew shadow needed help and didnt have enough time it will have to wait for next expansion. well next expansion is here and theyve done f*** all
Maybe it’ll be gone in the next expansion…
or the one after that…
or the one after that…
seriously. only survival hunters will be able to somewhat relate. but they at least have other dps specs to use. shadow priests literally had their spec deleted in legion.
There’s a problem if a spec’s core mechanic just flat out doesn’t work a lot of the time.
Even leveling my priest to 120 as Shadow was frustrating. Activating Void Form feels almost pointless. Mostly you are just generating insanity to see it drain away in between mobs as you quest.
In Legion I mostly did world content as Discipline, and I went back to that for leveling before long. I have one of everything, and there’s nothing comparable in the game that I can see, as far as basic combat feeling like a chore.
I want shadow. Not dorky light.
Sorry, you only get void. If you want Shadow, roll a rogue.
Priests have entered the chat.
Blizzard has left the chat.
I think voidform as a basic conception is worthwhile, and a play style revolving around weaving in and out of it is cool.
The problem is all the ramp up. Like it’s not even just ramp up, it’s a ramp up to another ramp up!
I would like to see all the stacking related aspects of voidform be removed and orbs returned at the same time. Like maybe voidform provides a static buff, say 20% crit or such
Have mind blast generate orbs, and maybe void bolt crits too. Orbs get spent on DP
DP can be a fast, hard hitting dot like it was in WoD and an insanity generator whilst not in VF, and perhaps causes insanity to drain slower whilst in it
Basic idea would be an playstyle that involves getting into VF quickly with DP and then the mini game of extending it with DP from the orb generation from void bolt crits enhanced by the increased VF crit chance
I dunno, just seems like it could work if there wasn’t any having to build up stacks requirements to carry through to subsequent pulls, not as many balance issues as VF would be a static buff, still retain the unique style of moving in and out of form, and hopefully a situation where it’s easier to get back into form and dps isn’t proxy between each form
I’m a pretty inexperienced spriest though and I’m sure there are a million problems with this idea, but surely SOMETHING can be done?
Voidform would be better if it worked more like old MoP Demo Meta. With it, you were able to bounce in and out at will, as long as you had Fury. It also gave access to a greater range of abilities or altered how they worked. So you were able to bank it to a moment it mattered…or jump in just for a few seconds to burst something down.
Thematically, I like it, but mechanically Voidform sucks right now.
Come back to the light .
We have cookies !
void form is the worst what could ever happen to shadow priests.
it is overwhelmingly not FUN to play. I have not hated so much anything in a this game but this trash voidform mechanic.
#REMOVEVOIDFORM from SHADOWpriests.
Not a priest man, but shadow feels absolutely awful for most content. The spec is balanced around being weak outside of void form, and building up to it. Except outside of non-stop combat like a raid boss, most of your void form time is wasted. So you feel perpetually weak, while building up to something you don’t get much use out of.
As it is, I would rather do casual solo content (leveling, WQ, etc) dpsing as disc or holy.
Demonology warlocks too. Meta demo and ranged survival were my favorite specs in the game, both deleted.
I’m currently questing in Discipline spec, it’s some of the funnest I’ve had in this game for real
