Voidform confirmed to stay

The priest community overwhelmingly dislikes voidform.

The interview just now confirmed it’s here to stay and ‘conduits will fix it’.

4 years… 4 years we gave blizzard a shot.
You think people hardly play monks? Just watch the priests drop like flies now.

Think it’s time to abandon ship. It’s one thing if it’s 50/50 (just make it a talent choice then but w/e) but the priest community overwhelmingly wanted orbs back. And to make void form a talent for those who enjoy it.

Nope, it’s blizzard “we know what’s actually fun” vs what the community thinks is fun.

Don’t get me wrong, many of you in the GD probably enjoy voidform cause it’s different and a nice thing to switch it up with on an alt. But when you main it? When you do open world with it? When you pvp with it? When void form is your gameplay? It’s not good. It only feels decent on raid fights. Shadowlands has a lot of content that is outside of raids. Think this is where I hang up my hat. I gave it time. I waited 4 years for blizz to come up with a decent fix. Something. Anything.

They failed, and then they doubled down on more borrowed power to fix a spec that is SO EASILY FIXED by changing our resource back. It’s not re-inventing the wheel, and quite frankly it’s condescending to the priest community.

This is similar to survival hunters. A few enjoy melee. Most miss ranged. Instead of making it an OPTION so everyone wins… they force melee on you cause they know what’s best, and who are you, a player, to know what’s ACTUALLY fun.

Blizzards approach of staying silent and addressing none of the good points people raise about broken specs, just saying “nah you’re wrong. Conduits.” Just MAN, I don’t think any other game studio is as arrogant in their response than blizzard is with class changes.
“You think you do, but you don’t” was a meme. They turned around, gave the community what it wanted, and people gave positive feedback to blizzard for it. This shows that mentality of knowing better than a majority of players is FLAWED. yet they still keep it for the main gameplay feature of the game… the base class you play.

Why don’t people like voidform?

except they cant. priests have been trying to make it work for 4 years. its a system that has no place in this game. i get it, its different and cool but it doesnt even do anything in 80% of the games content. it will be decent on maybe 2 encounters a raid tier. then be awful in world/dungeons/pvp/etc

My dearest Priest friends!

You have been abandoned, so if you want the light, then come get the light, I’m sure we can find some pretty plate armor for you to wear and a shield! You can use this for a sled and a fire pit, it’s very useful!

You even get a bubble upgrade!

Come on down!

You know, it’s rather appropriate to have the “Sky is falling” in the expansion where the sky is literally shattered and falling.

So far, I have fun when I get into voidform. But it’s getting there that isn’t so engaging and I’m not in voidform often.

I do prefer the old shadow orb gameplay. Voidform sort of reminds me of balance druid which isn’t a playstyle I enjoy either. I like the healing spec but maybe priest is just not for me outside of group content.

Good thing they gave the healing specs all those good dps abilities back! I never use shadow for anything anyway I just quest in Holy lol

This is what I hate. Fix the god damn class, stop relying on borrowed power systems to put bandaids on classes/specs suffering from mechanical issues.

The second those systems are revoked those specs go back to being garbage because they were never actually fixed in the first place.

SPriests, Feral, and Guardian druids should be setting the forums on fire.

Considering beta is coming next week I’d surprised if they made any radical change to any spec.

I like how Voidform looks, but liking Voidform in any context is heresy so I no longer deserve an opinion.

In all my time i’ve never seen any substantial changes take place once beta was released.

It’s pretty safe to say SPriests as well as the other aggrieved specs are shipping as-is with only numbers tuning moving forward.

Oh yeah, I dropped this class like a bad habit in 8.3… and SL is looking even worse.

Blizzard is out of bandwidth and is just punting on class design in SL. About 1/3rd of the specs are polished and feel good, about 1/3rd work and that’s about the best you can say for them and about 1/3rd are just borderline nonfunctional and will be broken until 9.2 at the earliest.

Disc and Shadow, unfortunately, fall in the last category… with Holy just barely making it into category #2 it seems.

The biggest problem plaguing this game right now is the ease of swapping specs. Almost every major complaint from the community stems from the fact that people think their healing Priest should also swap to Shadow to DPS as needed.

Shadow mechanically is interesting. The problem is that people who don’t want to play Shadow are playing it because Shadow is the DPS spec of Priest, and Priest players who want to swap to a DPS spec only have Shadow to swap to.

If you couldn’t swap spec, if Priest players leveled, did dungeons, and raided with only one spec, they would commit to their healing spec and be happy. But instead, you have large numbers of players who only play Shadow to grind faster or hot-swap to fill a role in their playing a spec designed for a niche player-base.

If Shadow Priest was a Warlock spec, this conversation wouldn’t be happening. The problem is that you can’t just swap Destruction and Shadow. Shadow has strong flavor in the Priest class at this point.

To get to the point, if people want to play an Affliction Warlock, they should reroll Affliction. Shadowlands is not an expansion where you should play multiple specs on one character due to Covenants and Conduits. Take the opportunity to level up a Warlock, and play that Warlock when you want to DPS, and play your Priest when you want to heal. EZ PZ.

So your suggestion…

Is to revert to 2000-era game design philosophy? Was that an elaborate troll post?

A lot of the problems also stem from the fact that many specs just don’t feel good to play in certain content.

Priest was my first 120 in BfA and like others have said: Shadow feels like a spec designed by somebody unaware that there is content in this game that isn’t raiding.
