Besides, Elven folklore is pretty much tied to German & Norwegian mythology,
All of our contemporary medieval fantasy is very strongly Germanic, Nordic with some Celtic elements of it.
Anyways, I hate it when people use that tactic as though of it being “oppressive”. Nothing wrong with having a very fair skin elf and human or whatever, fantasy is fantasy
PS: I am olive dark skinned spaniard and I love my elf how it is lol
Me no savage!
It’s true though, I’d love to see the capital cities and their respective zones reskinned. Seeing Orgrimmar and Durotar with all the BfA/WoD orc architecture instead of just metal and spikes from cata and rocks/leather from classic would help reinforce the idea that orcs aren’t just pure savage, they’re savage and civilized.
Not true, Void elves were added at the end of Legion.
During BfA we have seen High elves as part of the 7th Legion, as NPCs in the Rift and show up as NPCs around Stormwind.
So they are still being used pretty heavilly.
ENd of 2nd war King Anesterian pulled the high elves out of the Alliance some remained loyal to the Alliance through the Kirin Tor .
Primarily
Blood Mage
Priest
Sorcerres
Spellbreaker
The majority of the H population went with their king and were no longer part of the Alliance officially and after the invasion of their lands by the scourge it was the Horde that came to their aid and not the Alliance that everyone says they were part of.
So I guess they are only Alliance when they benefit you like as being a playable race .
I wouldn’t of cared which way they went prior to them coming in BC because I didn’t come into the game until after BT opened. But now that I’ve been playing for years and have read up on the lore. They are no longer the alliances they are the hordes and inspite of me liking my void elf hunter as my alliance main that I will continue to enjoy , Blizz honestly shouldn’t of caved in to a bunch of whiney ingrates and given the alliance their own version of Belfs.
Disclaimer: I’m not a fan of high elves, I’m happy with my goth-angsty-edgy Hot Topic elf.
I think the slap in the face is that they could’ve given caucasian skin to Void Elves to somewhat fill the High Elf gap for Alliance players.
Instead they’re pandering to the Horde. Again. After a whole expansion of Horde bias.
Even though It’s literally the most played allied race, apparently not.
I couldn’t agree more. I never could imagine in any other game the lead game developer themselves says “That race joined the horde and became playable, if you want to play them that’s how you’ll have to do it” and the fan base still demanding for the race to be on their faction and actually saying It’s a slap in the face when they don’t get their way EVERY time they add a different race.
It’s almost the definition of insanity.
Weird because everyone who wants high elves on the alliance claims NOBODY asked for void elves and nobody likes them because they’re not high elves. They speak for everyone on the alliance by the way. They also have claimed nobody likes mech gnomes or wants them, which is honestly a little awkward because there’s literally a mech gnome love thread floating around…
Especially considering them development team even stated that over time, blood elf eyes would return to their normal high elven color. So like, why was anyone mad / surprised at that is beyond me.
Very good point, one that I’ve never gotten an answer too. Why are people so gung ho about trying to take a horde race and make it neutral? It’s beyond silly and Blizzard has already said it won’t happen. Ask for something new and cool.
Right? This would be like people playing nightborn demanding they look more like night elves. It would literally be of a slap in the face ™ to the alliance…
Most of that is either misinformation or horrendous retcons, retcons that were forced by the poor writing of putting Blood elves on the horde in the first place. A move that made sense from a buisniss perspective to draw players to the horde, but a bad move from a Lore perspective.
And again, there is still a significant enough amount of High elves as part of the alliance, that are enough to have them show up AS ALLIANCE every single expansion.
If Blizzard want to push that High elves are not part of the alliance (which is stupid as they are a core founding race). Then they need to stop using them as a part of the alliance every expansion.
Also as a foot note, Bloodelves SHOULD be allied with the Nightelves, as the only they escaped Silermoon was because Tyrande saved them, and Kael swore Loyalty and his people to Illidan, a night elf.
I’m so glad more people are realizing how these people are acting / how unreasonable and childish they are being. At the beginning of BFA I tried to reason with them on why it just doesn’t make sense and got mass reported / silenced.
Yeah but acting like the alliance don’t do it about almost everything that comes or the horde does near as much complaining as they do is just blatantly false.
I can’t even remember the last thing the horde actually got upset about other than maybe the bee mount and even then I don’t even remember if there was more than a few threads that quickly died?
They didn’t continue to spam the forums and make 5+ threads or a bee mount mega thread over it…
A) No we don’t, we literally have the same amount of race options.
B) Even if it was true, it wouldn’t matter. One well designed race is better than a bunch of poorly designed ones. Exhibit A: Vulpera are more popular than Kul Tiran, Diapergnomes and Lightforged put together.
