We see it within M’uru and Saa’ra, we see it with many of the members of the Netherlight Temple and the Conclave who utilize a mix of both, I’ve been told that the Forsaken are made with a hint of Void magic yet Alonsus Foal uses the light. And now we have Void Elves who wield the light demonstrated prominantly. Now go find the lore that says these things aren’t possible despite the fact that it is showcased time and again to be the case.
She isn’t a Paladin then. Paladins are defined by their connection and use of the Light. No Light = no Paladin.
M’uru used Shadow/Void Spells as a Holy Naaru?
Did I miss something?
And yet you didn’t read it, because it says nothing in there that they cannot use the light.
This paladin is obviously being explained via lore the same way light forge warlocks are. So there ya go
Uh yes? I said this a long time ago.
Thank you for showing you have not read the thread.
If they say: “Hey, this is just gameplay.” - fair enough.
If they write appropriate, well-thought-out lore: Nice.
But the classes have a default archetype. And they want to squeeze it in there. They’re always doing that. And that doesn’t work. So it’s about producing even more bad lore at the level of F-tier trash anime, edgy half-angel/half-archdemon.
If I were you, I would carefully consider whether I truly want to challenge the validity of the concept of ‘logical consequence’.
It’s a faulty conclusion based on your own assumptions. Which is demonstrated time and time again when characters you conclude cannot use the light, in fact, can use the light.
Fixed, 'cause sources. Feel free to argue against the actual point I made, though.
- Gameplay/lore segregation.
- Circular argument.
Established Lore like Alonsus Foal using the light, despite your conclusion that he cannot. Established Lore like Calia Menethil (pre-death) using the Light and the Void despite your conclusion that she cannot. These things contradict, are not a part of player gameplay, and tear down your poorly-constructed conclusions if we are using even the faintest bit of logic. I can see you are not using logic, though, so I’ll leave you to it.
I did not contradict that. But that tells me that you actually didn’t read my post.
In written lore? Where? I’ll check that out.
(Would of course still be an inconsistency, yikes)
Another circular argument.
It is logical, of course, that the arguments against a Void Elf Paladin now apply to all of the previous cases. The argument was as valid then as it is today.
Thanks for playing.
While I can appreciate this, even desiring it myself, and not only for void but, fel and arcane… especially arcane… I would love a reskin of Monk abilities, especially brewmaster, that gave them an arcane twist to them. I rather enjoy the idea that it is breaking that old Lore bit. Kind of like how often people made assumptions like… for example… hot water freezes faster, or that microwaved water was bad for plants.
Sometimes it’s not Lore breaking so much as Lore revealing. Besides its magic, most of it is powered by belief, so if you don’t believe the two will explode when mixed and they don’t explode when mixed, which this paladin demonstrates, then what does that say about those who can’t let their energies mix.
I would love to be a void pally. I love healing on Holy Paladin. It’s a little wonky, this expansion, but I still love Pallies. I like being able to help!
WoW is baised on a hard magic system. Please look it up what that is in literacy.
The ret-cons is slowly changing it to a no-rule magic system which is bad for stories.
this is why fantasy and gameplay shouldnt intersect to hard. it just horrible for everyone. i would love for a glyph to make paladins use void themes
If you don’t like fantasy rules, don’t play an fantasy game?
it would literally not effect you, just dont use optional void aesthetics as a ret paladin
also void elf paladin is valid cause the priest legion lore deep dived into light/void interactions in the netherlight temple.
Except it does?
It breaks from the hard magic system set in the literacy universe this sets in (Which VE paladin already does btw) even more. Making it harder to immerse oneself into the games universe.
It also makes the story worse by precedent. Go and look up the side effects of breaking hard magic systems.
WoD, BFA and Shdowlands are thing… but that single NPC is inconceivable and must be corrected? Some WoW players sure are something else, huh?
