Void Elf-High Elf Customization Thread

Shades of black are hard to casually define and I’m not an art major, but as I understand it any colour with black mixed in is technically a shade of black.

Possibly I think it might have something to do with how a colour interacts with light and whether it reflects or absorbs heat.

For the most part it seems unlikely from Blood Elves.

Best Chances would be to see atleast one Blonde, Brown, or Red Variation which would be ether from other gaming franchises or from other races besides Blood Elves.

That’s fine. We have several Alliance races with decent colors as well as hairstyles that would work.

I’d like to see these styles shared with Void Elves from Humans myself:

I would be even happier if Void Elves got a tentacle toggle for their hair so I could add or remove tentacles to every hairstyle. Even without any new hairstyles added, that alone would double the number of hairstyle options I have.

I have no objection to other hairstyles though.

If it can work with Void Elves in terms of other Alliance Race Hair Colors. I would say yes.

It would be interesting to see how KT and Draenei styles would work as well as some human styles.

Unlock all hairstyles! Else, give void elves more VOID ELF hair. I didn’t spend hours in that hellzone to play another belf, damnit.

I personally don’t find the idea of “one brown, blonde, and red” being fair what so ever. As the post above shows brown, the other colors would do much of the same in regards to further taking the last of the visuals needed by those who want the visuals of a generic fantasy elf. How is that fair for a VE to encompass both the Void visually and the visual theme of the Blood Elves? What makes VEs so special that they should be allowed to replicate a Horde core race to the fullest as well as their own unique theme, why not expand on that unique theme instead since arguably you have the RP tools for most of the visual theme now and Blizzard can’t only listen to the requests of those who don’t value visual distinction. Why would Blizzard defeat the purpose of their own AR?

i mean they pretty much have 2 different shades of what i(and the vast majority) would consider black. and the void elf is in as brightly lit a room as you can get in game so youre getting some light reflecting off their void hair. i could have easily gone in game to take comparisons in a dimly lit environment. i am sure blizzard always knew this would never satisfy an extreme few but its grotesque to me how much void elves can already discard the void aesthetic and be an alliance blood elf

can blood elves look like this?

isnt that neat? void elves can look like blood elves but not vice versa. an ar has more thematic options then its parent core race

It’s obviously a Void tinged black that works, it creates a bit of a confusion I think sometimes but people clearly are requesting a jet black natural toned version as well. But what they have does fall in the category of a type of black hair color.

In addition to this void black being discussed, I would also like to see the following:
-night black
-dwarf black
-human black
-light black
-blonde black
-brown black
-black black
-and white black

If you consider the vast majority being you and Lann (who display fairly obvious biases) then sure.

I see your squad have progressed to naysaying black hair as well, shocker /s

Okay how are you able to keep a straight face while saying things like this? “Jet black”, what…
One color is black, one isn’t, good night.

Uh…

Mag always was against black hair on void elves.

Lann meanwhile isn’t.

In that case I take it back, and I’m glad to see Lann is supportive of black hair for void elves!
It just seemed a little vague over this whole arguing over what the color black is.

sorry when i said vast majority, i meant people who dont even play wow. like if you walked around and showed this picture to random people and asked “what hair color do you see” the vast majority would respond with black and we all know it

Nice job using a terrible quality picture with an obstructive background, if anything his eyes also look yellow even though they clearly aren’t.

I guess my hair is black too in that case /s
If you scroll up, the pictures you and nico posted clearly do not show black.

You know what the color black is, stop being dishonest fyrebusch.

Yeah I’m not against the jet black seen on NPCs that is a request I just think the current shade is a shade of black as well, I do see Magnificents position on if they don’t add shades based purely on a visual distinction argument that the current shade at least could qualify.

I passively support the jet black color on the grounds it can fit the void theme but I can see Magnificents points too, it’s also become so hard to actively voice support when many HE fans will use the opportunity to say “I want a black too! And all these other colors as well!” hence my passive support.

I will say I value my ability to agree with people in areas and disagree civilly in others, I don’t just side in one area because I agree with them in other areas I think this is called nuance? I value that and I’m saddened to see people so used to perhaps just siding on one side regardless think that I lack that quality.

My agreement with someone on something doesn’t mean it’s blind agreement everywhere , thank you for noting the difference and pointing that out I appreciate it, while my reply is to you it’s mostly just bouncing off what you pointed out, more intended for anyone who thinks my agreement in one area = agreement in all areas.

I would say don’t forget the fact we’ve seen in various threads from various sources from many people who are not thread regulars who have come in and stated they believe VEs have a black hair color… and that’s because you are correct that the color in question is a Void answer to black.

Posts like this make me laugh because most of us support black hair on Void Elves just because people see blue black as a shade of black doesn’t mean you are completely against it and to assume so just makes you look bad.

True and true and both are entitled to feel how they feel and to think how they think, we all are.

I consider it blue black but it still fits in the spectrum of black even if it’s not a jet black so I don’t get the uproar since last night. Lol.

That’s a good catch :hugs: I was thinking of it as a Void Black but I definitely see what you mean and it makes sense, outside of the context of Void in WoW I see it as a blue black definitely.

Thanks, I used to color my real hair that color all throughout high school, the official color shade was called black diamond but it was a blue black color that’s why I can see it for what it is.
