I don’t think blizzard wants void elves to take over the Alliance. Don’t get me wrong, I think they are really cool and an innovative solution to the high elf/blood elf debate. But they are an allied race, not a main Alliance race. Maybe the reason they DON’T elaborate on where each and every individual of a race comes from is to ALLOW player freedom in determining their own backstories?
If other people’s enjoyment of something diminishes your own enjoyment of it, you might not be as good a person as you think you are…
And you blame the people. If you play the game, you’ll see that the story mostly focus on Alleria, hense giving people that thought. Don’t blame the community for this one, blame canada Blizzard
Alleria literally is the one teaching them how to harness and control their void powers, not Umbric. Umbric needed Alleria and the player to save him and his followers from a magic box and an ethereal. Alleria is clearly the actual leader of the void elves. Alleria pre-dates them by thousands of years of dilated time.
Even their ranks make sense, Umbric is a Magister while Alleria is a Ranger-General
thats incredibly false. Magister Umbric and his void elves were a pivotal presence in BFAs main story quest; Alleria stood on a boat doing nothing for 2 years.
All Alleria has had was a cut-scene (Legion) with Lotus walker where she absorbed some dark naruu powers. Oh, and her little mission to get you the MM artifact weapon.
this … isnt … debatable.
Its CANON that Umbric is the LEADER. Canon, as described by the freakin people who write the lore and make these decisions. You can hate or disagree with it until you’re blue in the face, but its FACT, not an opinion. Go look up ‘MAGISTER UMBRIC’ on wowpedia and tell me what it says.
Katerie, not that I’m going to disagree with you here, but Umbric is the leader of the Void Elves, and Alleria is the Co-Leader of the Void Elves.
When they established themselves as the Ren’dorei, and set up a place to safely control the void, it only consisted of Alleria, Umbric, and Umbric followers. Alleria is there to teach them how to control the void so they don’t loose there sanity, Umbric leads them, Alleria Co-Leads them but teaches them, and the same goes for all future Void Elves.
Oh really? Hey, just for fun why don’t you create a void elf real fast and tell me who narrates their opening cinematic?
Players always have that freedom.
I’ve had a Lordaeron survivor since vanilla when the only humans available were SW ones.
Your story is always your own.
Asking for lore to explain where new void elves are coming from isn’t negative. It’s good for the game. It’s good for the players.
Nothing about it, especially in the case of void elves, should stop you from choosing to be something else for that character. More so now, in this moment.
I just get ruffled when folk try to pass headcanon as canon.
That opening cinematic is not saying she is the leader of the Void Elves though.
The Narrator Voice when creating a fresh new human, does that mean the narrator is the leader of the humans?
excuse me mam, that narrator is Terenas Menethil, the one true king
That is King Teranas’ voice so… maybe?
ok here you go
“Magister Umbric is the leader of the void elves. Previously a magister of Quel’Thalas, Umbric and his followers were exiled for refusing to stop their studies of the Void. Free to conduct their researches, hi” -Wowpedia
directly copied-and-pasted
denial isn’t healthy for the mind.
You know that is user-edited right? Anyway, he is a Magister, Alleria is a Ranger-General, literally the rank of the blood elf leader before he was elected “Regent Lord” due to being the highest-ranking member of their military left alive and only because he was a Ranger-Captain when the previous Ranger-General was killed and raised as a banshee who, co-incidentally, is Alleria’s sister!
wow, im only responding because this level of denial is actually quite fascinating
so all the wiki’s are wrong, the writers are wrong, the in-game lore is wrong, i’m wrong, and everyone in this thread telling you otherwise is also wrong.
but you’re correct?
absolutely fascinating. That’s … wow.
Great, now refute the rest of my argument
By their own laws, not only is Alleria the void elf leader, she should be the blood elf leader due to seniority
Hell she might even be technically the undead leader if Sylvanas has been deposed if she is next in line, she is her older sister after all
You don’t have an argument. You dont just get to re-write canon because you disagree with it. You have the right to hate it all you want, but it ends there
ERGO, you denying FACTS is not an argument.
I dont get to sit here and “argue” that pigs can fly.
Void elves have three leaders.
Alleria handles most diplomatic ventures and also leads their rangers… Probably the whole military branch.
She also represents them in SW.
Umbric leads their magisters and I assume undertakes operations in the field to facilitate their use.
Locus-Walker seems to be in charge of teaching and guiding.
Now, blizzards let that be rather vague so far, we only have their actions in bfa to really go on.
Be nice, wouldn’t it, if blizzard gave some things in say the Rift… To explain such things?
I am simply going off the ranks of the characters!
Frankly, this shoud had had happened like, yesterday. I don´t seethe point in keeping the hurdle mentality after the expac tthat had SOME argument in favor (one could say the hurdles were justified back in BfA cause the AR were the "selling point"of the expac (the storycertainly wasn´t… as a matter of fact we could even say the story HURT the expac as a selling point). But in SL? Let the ridiculous quest chains go away, people should be able to make their AR toons since the very beginning!!!
I mean Fen, if they spent half the time they spend HERE complaining in actually making their own teams there won´t be an issue. I wonder If they realize THIS attitude may be what turns off the competitive players from going back to Alliance (I mean I´m NO mythic raider… but If I was I deffinitely wouldn´t want to look for raiders/dungeoners/etc. in the playerbase pool full of individuals more worried over complaining than in playing and working to fix their own issues. Serious competitive gameplay literally can´t cohabit with these kind of attitudes).
This is what happens when we let the “MUH cosmetic ways or the highway” mentality people take the direction ofthe discussion (reason why after most of the sane decent Helfers will leave, we WILL have to actively prevent the extremist Helfers from trying to poach actual Belf stuff like the city or the characters or the class combos or the racials for themselves. Cause only them will stay asking for stuff in here).
They are the ONLY race that literally contribute to nothing unique on the Horde as far as narrative is concerned. Which is sad.
