MURG
The original Allied Races still have a part to play in World of Warcraftâs story
From the Nightborne to the Void Elves, thereâs lore afoot
Danuser says theyâre becoming void elves.
Void elves are about as different as death knights or demon hunters from the base stock, in my opinion. Or a very serious druid with the antlers and whatever is going on with Malfurion.
Suffused and transformed by a magical energy, but also itâs not inaccurate to call void elves⌠well⌠elves, at the end of the day.
If youâre unable to do basic creative thinking, please stop trying to pull âgotchasâ.
Theyâre literally students of Umbric.
They are right there.
This has never been an argument.
Theyâre canonically there. Get over it.
Danuser says theyâre becoming void elves.
The full mutation has been stated to not be repeatable, but again, basic world-building, the stuff they teach you in high school, gives enough common sense to dictate that those students there would be âcanonicallyâ the ones with the more natural looking appearances, and itâd explain why these more regular looking elves would suddenly turn blue in combat and use void magic.
People donât want to think. They want everything spoonfed to them when it comes to gate keeping, but oh, sanâlayn and all these other weird niche things that were declined already?
Oh, they can stretch as much as they want for that.
No he did not. They are allowing them to study the void as per him.
If youre going to ignore/deny what Danuser said, then please just donât participate in this particular part of the discussion.
It may have âfailedâ but it doesnât mean they where not forever changed from it, it just means it was stopped before fully completion.
Yes, this right here. We, the players, and Alleria stopped Duurzan just in the nick of timeâŚbut by that it means saving them from becoming completely discorporate not saving them from a permanent genetic change.

Where do they draw their Void Powers from? What is the energy source? Do we see them draining Void beings?
Your smug deprecations aside, yes - I want some canonical references to how they are becoming Void Elf LightâŚnot Void Elves, but an inferior step-child that still requires a power source.
There is no denying, it is in the quote you posted 5000 times.
Theyâre literally students of Umbric
Source needed. I do not remember umbric or anyone stating they are anyoneâs students. They are there to research the void on their own. They are not there to turn into void elves.
Where do they draw their Void Powers from? What is the energy source? Do we see them draining Void beings?
Even if they did, they would need to draw power from a being equal to a void God to become like alleria and have many years of training prior to do it successfully.
Blonde hair for void elves so I can play one of these guys.
And change their models while theyâre at it so âblood elvesâ can stop crying thereâs blood elves in an Alliance zone now. Maybe even the ones that got brainwashed back in BC protesting them joining the Horde originally.
âHigh Elves? Honestly, spoilers guys, Blood Elves are pretty much High Elves. Void Elves are also pretty much another flavor of High Elves.â
Any English teacher, or fluent English speaker in general, would be able to tell you that his use of âalsoâ and âanotherâ imply that he was using the âflavorâ point for Blood Elves as well and not exclusively just Void Elves.
Ion: Blood Elves and Void Elves are both flavors of High Elves.
From the Nightborne to the Void Elves, thereâs lore afoot
âThe Void Elves were a case where we didnât want the Allied Races to be something you were always familiar with before. We wanted to introduce new ideas, and new opportunities,â Danuser says. With Alleria Windrunnerâs story being an internal success on Argus, the team saw it as the opportunity for a new twist on elves. Thereâs just one question: If they come from a small group of Silvermoon Exiles, how are they an Allied Race? Where do the numbers come from?
âThey start out as a small group,â Danuser continues. âBut itâs natural as other elves have found out about them â elves who are interested in new sources of magic, power, or opportunities â would see if they could undergo a similar process. Theyâre not ⌠recruiting , necessarily, but theyâre open to those who show a similar interest.â
Danuser: The reason Void Elves are playable is because they have an actively growing population through other High Elves and Blood Elves joining them to bolster their ranks.
Demon Hunters - A group of Fel infused elves. Some had visible mutations, others had no changes occur at all (outside of the burning out of their eyes which was part of the ritual). Like Void Elves, they also have different colored blood. Since some had no visible changes to their body, they are capable of looking exactly like a non-Demon Hunter (minus the eyes).
Death Knights - A group of undead, infused with Death magic. Some didnât retain their original looks due to decay, but some are also able to look exactly like their original selves minus their eyes.
Void Elves - Group of Void infused High Elves. Some underwent visible changes, some didnât. You should be able to make an exact copy of a Blood Elf minus the eyes, just like with Demon Hunters and Death Knights. Lore wise they should 100% have access to the Blood Elf: hair styles and colors, facial hair, blind eye options, ear length options, and jewelry. There is zero debating this entire discussion, because itâs valid in the lore and that is ALL that matters.
Those guys are not void elvesâŚ
âBut itâs natural as other elves have found out about them â elves who are interested in new sources of magic, power, or opportunities â would see if they could undergo a similar process.
âwould see ifâ
Priest Ennas is a blood elf found in the Bazaar of Silvermoon City. He can be seen preaching to many other blood elves while standing next to Lyria Skystrider. The pair protest the excessive use of magic, insult Lor'themar Theron's choice to ally...
Just leaving this guy here again.
High-Elf subrace - with green fel eyes - 100% valid request lore wise.
As is blonde hair.
Good to see you Murg.
But sadly, going to have to intercept here. When it comes to the Void Elves, only Umbric and his followers were transformed from the Void Etherals. Yes, I agree, if it wasnât for Alleria, they wouldâve been fully transformed, but just because they have changed, doesnât stop them from being who they are.
Plus, the story has to move forward too, in which we see the High Elf Wayfarers and Silvermoon Scholars, their story has not been told yet.
But just because the Void Elves has slight transformation, it doesnât mean they stop being a Thallasian elf. Because there is nothing in the lore, stating them to be as a seperate race.
Those guys are not void elvesâŚ
And the sunwell is holy infused.
When it comes to the Void Elves, only Umbric and his followers were transformed from the Void Etherals.
Yes, and therefore are the only true Void Elves.
Any students of that process who have not either a) been nearly torn apart and remade or b) went the Alleria route and sucked a twisted Naaru dry are - at best - High Elf Voidlocks who can summon up some void energy to use. Not Void Elves.
It is 50/50 arcane holy, not enough to lightforge buddy. Try again another time (let alone arcaneforge lol)
Reminder:
Wildhammer and Sanfury Trolls are currently not actually playable. Theyâre just Bronzebeard and Darkspear.
Subraces donât exist.
We cannot expand on something that does not exist.
But we canât litterly just rely on that group forever. Blizzard is giving the full High Elf customisations to both Blood and Void Elves to allow people to pick there path and play as what we like. Ok, they havenât finished with the Void Elves, but I do not think Blizzard has also finished with the customisations for the Blood Elves either.
As Ion said, customisations are an ongoing process, and are never completely done.
But the point is, we canât just be hooked on one point of the story, because the story has to move forward. The Void Elves lore still needs to be extended and told further.
