Void Elf-High Elf Customization Thread

I think that’s because they realize what they actually are even if they want to pretend to be something they really aren’t, I still remember the conversation about buildings and stuff and it still makes me laugh because it’s like okay so you want void theme stuff building wise but that’s where it stops? Lol.

Yes, I agree, I still hear it at times about me having blue hair and being a Blood Elf and I think this is a High Elf blue hair color like the aqua blue color it’s not dark blue like Void Elves but they still say like it makes us the same so who knows.

Well Blood Elves are High Elves so even then your hair color is valid :sparkling_heart: I think it was in hindsight what makes the most sense to me looking back I never understood at the time the visual distinction arguments on why model changes for a HE AR / options that they tried to claim as HE would have to be options they wanted to keep from BEs which doesn’t make sense the playable HE race are Blood Elves, there really isn’t anything that should be kept from them because a few NPCs exist Alliance side, like people trying to justify holding onto Farstrider tattoos to BEs detriment etc

Is that honestly all you’ve got? That I’ve liked their posts on a whopping TWO characters?

This doesn’t eliminate the utter cringe and lowness of what you did. You clearly can’t argue, so you resort to character assassinations.

Thank you once again for proving my point.

Yes exactly - void elves ARE blood elves. They have not been estranged long enough from their brethren to have any significant physiological changes that would make them totally different to them. I also think Void elves should have more options for Void alterations as well.

That said though, I do think blood elves should get other options - like being able to look like ‘dark rangers’ or ‘sunwell elves’.

coughs They are forsaken! coughs

If the sunwell did not turn them into arcane beings before it’s destruction, why would it now after it is revived?

That’s good because i’ve never pretended. No more void elf or blood elf customization until Pandaren have been given more options. This is insulting.

Honestly, there’s quite a few races I’d like to see get more before blood elves. And void elves should be near the back of the line.

Nightborne, Tauren and Pandaren in that order.

Add gnomes, undead and worgen in, and we can talk.

…though really, even male orcs have some things they need.

Eh those are alliance. Can you even really say they are players if they are playing any of these races?

I’d throw a race under the bus, but I play all of them, soooooo it’d just wind up as a self-own.

You mean the take that claims to disprove a statement that it will practically (as in not perfectly, but close enough that it doesn’t matter) duplicate a look by pointing out a few examples of difference?

can’t be happy playing a non-voidy high elf where they have been for over a decade doesn’t make it something that needs or should be done.

As I’ve said, I’ve come to expect this side to lack any degree of empathy if it gets in the way of your greed.

My personal opinion is that a character made deliberately to look like their opposite faction counterpart is interesting (choosing the most similar of a proposed hair color that doesn’t exist for void elves and may never) but it’s not exactly a be all end all.

With death knight skins and silver or blue hair, you can also make a death knight who looks a lot like a void elf. But no one in their right mind is proposing taking the grey skin from blood elf death knights to preserve the void aesthetic (for one thing, they had it first).

Or, on both void and blood elves, you can spin off into a look the other can’t replicate. And in the future, as (hopefully) more customizations are added, I expect that trend to continue.

In that very quote he also states it wouldn’t be feasible to have to add an in-game explanation for every Wildhammer customization or explanation for different troll tribe skins being on Darkspear trolls but yeah I see that sweeping by that point is necessary to feel like you have a ground to stand on when it comes to the goal of why the customizations options are given despite quest text staying the same.

So much of what I see from people that simply want to limit HE customization on VE is engaging with only snippets of what is said and trying to make quips over actually engaging with all the evidence out there that Blood Elves are still very unique in looks in many ways that VE/HE on Alliance won’t get to touch even if given a few hair colors (that don’t even have to be same shades from BE).

It’s dishonest because while you can make a few similar looking HE through both VE and BE should they be given hair color in that hypothetical picture, there’s still a plethora of unique looks available only to BE in the picture I shared. Showing that a few hair colors isn’t the last thing keeping BEs unique in looks.

But like I said, the side trying to limit more HE customization coming to VE only feel like they have a leg to stand on by quoting snippets out of context instead of engaging with the entire context of actual WoW team statements and picture evidence that exists in-game right now.

That’s what the picture I shared shows, I just can’t post images on the forums because not proper account level because I don’t spend enough time on Forums. Right now you can make many unique looking Blood Elves that can’t be replicated by Void Elves and vice versa, and hair color is isn’t the defining differentiator there - hairstyles, eye colors, jewelry all add into it.

Exactly, first, that hair color doesn’t exactly exist. 2nd they go out of their way to pick the closest customization options. 3rd it’s like getting uber aggressively mad over someone wearing the same top you do for the day, brand and looks all.

Like we’re really having some people get aggressive and gatekeeping because they’re upset someone they come across for a few seconds one day in the thousands of hours played is going to be wearing the same ‘designer look’.

Even if there was the potential for 100% 1:1 replication between the two, the chances of actually encountering someone of the opposite with the exact same appearance as you is literally close to 0.

Do you mean the actual context of what they’re saying, or the way you pretend they’re saying what you want them to say?

That’s definitely I agree your opinion you’re entitled to, but I would say visual distinction has been lost enough as a compromise it doesn’t need to be further infringed on for the people who do care about that.

You can always wear a helmet or be bald if it matters that much to you.

Well, the image was made to indicate how close they could be.

And it succeeds!

But frankly, that’s not a Kul’tiran hair color I’d like, because it has warm roots and highlights. They do have some with cool colored roots and highlights.

Most blood elf hair colors have warmer roots, and going forward, if void elves get more, I’d like to see them stay with the cooler roots – like the KT ash blonde and blueish black, which are both decently different shades.

Yeah, but there never has been, nor will there ever be 100% 1:1 replication between the two. VE won’t ever get green/gold eye colors, doubt they’ll get any of the hair styles, or jewelry options (because frankly VE aren’t about a lavish aesthetic unlike BE).

It’s not like how Pandas have actual 100% 1:1. And getting a few similar shades of hair color isn’t going to make it reach that level either.
