because you dont want to play the horde. sexy supermodel race. lotr. etc

and it is lotr. this has nothing to do with lore

Because the blond elf is a popular player fantasy not granted to the Alliance and as iconic as green/brown Orcs. It’s something we are all used to due Tolkien and other media

I can play my ‘generic elf fantasy’ on Alliance, no need play on Horde for that. Mingling happily amongst humans/dwarves/gnomes from Stormwind to Ironforge meets my LOTR needs
