It’s the Void Elf fantasy toned down so you can rp a high elf if you choose. The intent was to never give people pure high elves.
Because the Void Elves both conceptually and visually were lacking. And if we want to avoid infringing upon Blood Elves, the Alliance has plenty to offer including their own blondes and some hairstyles to help set them apart.
Predominantly, yes they should, but they should also allow for just a couple options for a more traditional appearance. I wholly support adding and expanding on Void themes at the end of the day.
Then why even call it the high elf fantasy to begin with? You’re not RP’ing a high elf, you’re RP’ing a void elf with less void.
I don’t know. Seems like that was the intent from the interview.

The intent was to give cosmetic High Elven options for rp. They are still Void Elves and the game should treat them as such.
This is a boon for personal rp, nobody is saying you cant pretend to be a pure High Elf
They blatantly gave us the intent in the interview.
‘This is another place where there was a race, High Elves, in the game which hadn’t really been represented on player characters.’
‘It was an opportunity where we had a number of elven races, and we could tie it back to their roots, letting players choose where they wanted to align and what fantasy to play out.’
Sounds to me like it’s for High Elves.
its called placating/pandering. still cant believe blizzard caved to the pressure of, what 10 people, spamming the same topic for 3 years
yep i mean it says void elf under their name. they will be addressed as a void elf by npcs. they still have an alien voice, bleed blue when attacked and shift into the void in combat. and ofc still lack normal hair colors. and thats how it should be, a void elf chose to mutilate their bodies with void magic after all. they are as disgusting as fel corrupted elves in my book
I did a mock-up of cotton candy hair colors for Void Elves. It turned out pretty cool. I want to eat the hair.

Who says I haven’t? I simply stated I am uninterested in a game of comparing anecdotes.
Sure there is, they are a horde race, and about 40% oof the alliance is night elf as well. Shall we give the Horde night elves? Mmmph. Backfired didnt it?
Yeah…if the alliance cries hard enough it gets what it wants, as usual.
Those colors should only be available during Noble Garden. Or you unlock them by buying dyes during Noble Garden.
They absolutely should. Being able to play the race you want regardless of faction is a good thing, not a bad thing. Why are you opposed to people wanting to play characters they want to play? Do you think we should take this design idea with classes?
Say it louder for those in the back.
It’s just part of Blood Elves redemption and the Sunwell being saved by the Naaru I’m not mad at the story.
Arguably we see the difference in Blood Elf culture / thinking in Winterspring a quest highlights a Highborne, High Elf and Blood Elf ghost who all befall the same fate, and the Blood Elf has a sense of superiority while the other two have sympathy for their kins shared tragedy chasing the same artifact. And on multiple occasions despite the Sunwell’s return Blood Elves are still imo pragmatic and at their core cared about Quel’thalas more than their Alliance friends.
The ones that cared more about their Alliance friends I support people wanting to play/Blizzards comments on the customizations being for High Elves, awesome. I don’t support the “Blood Elves should have never been Horde” random arguments from people who obviously just ignore the story the way one might close their eyes and pretend something’s not happening and then say it doesn’t make sense how we got to where we are today.
I am opposed to it, because this is a game about factions. If everyone can play anything, then there is no point to having factions. Simple.
Blonde is blonde. Saying your blonde is a little lighter doesn’t change it from being blonide. Void elves have plenty to be offered, but players had no interest. They wanted to be pale, blue eyed elves, just like the horde. heck if anything, that makes them even LESS original. You don’t gain originality by copying an already existing race down to the colors.
I agree for the most part. I won’t lie, I don’t think much of the story of WoW makes sense when you analyze it too closely anyways. But at least its still enjoyable to see what happens next.
World of Warcraft is not a game of factions, warcraft is. Warcraft has not had an original release in almost 20 years, the factions are beyond dead. I hate more alliance than I do horde as someone who has mained ally for 13+ years.
Not a helf fan, but I could see blonde being added. In the new novel they referred to Alleria as “the void elf” so I can see her hair color being added.
That’s actually really cute. I’d like those hair colors in game
I am confident that once we actually have a selection of High Elf customization options to play with, that Blizzard will then follow up with more void-themed options.
In fact, one might help add to the other. Consider that one request for Void Elf hair is a toggle for the tentacles (to show or hide them in the same way as the Night Elf leaves in the hair). So while hiding tentacles in the hair works for those looking for a less void aesthetic, the opposite can also be true if the toggle adds tentacles to the hairstyles that don’t currently have any!
Beyond that, there’s still a desire for void-themed customization. Personally, my list consists of:
- Additional skin tones with the void corruption on hands/feet
- A tentacle toggle for hair to add tentacles to currently non-tentacled hair (and remove tentacles from currently tentacled hair)
- Jet Black and Stark White hair color options (though black seems like it’s already coming).
- Void-scarred skin options similar to how Demon Hunters have skin options with those glowy fel scars all over their bodies void-colored.
- A blue-black eye option similar to the heritage wings.
racial leaders are special. they have unique armor and appearances. alleria is a unique void elf. just like nathanos, there is a unique reason why nathanos looks as he does
Hrmn… I don’t know. I bet if she went through the same ritual Umbric and his lot went through she’d look the same as them. Otherwise, any High/Blood Elf messing would void magic would look like Umbric and his lot. Actually, if that’s the case, it’d be a way to give Blood Elves the Void Elf customizations, not that I think many Blood Elves want them to begin with.
