Veto'ing Real ID literally ruined the game

Post your full real name right now or stop talking.

We have people calling the police on streamers for fun. Youā€™re woefully ignorant of how terrible people can be despite the fact their name is shown.

A few people being jerks and hiding behind a user name that can be blocked is a far lesser evil than youā€™re giving it credit. Ignore, report and move on.

When real ID was announce a blizzard empolyee shared info to show it isnā€™t as bad as you think, just like you and I believe it was under an hour they had information about their family, kids and what not.

so the vast, VAST majority were againstā€¦even according your claims of numbers that you need to back up with real evidence.

more like ā€œoh noā€¦some crybaby stalker who I ganked yesterday will be at my door with a machete toniteā€

All the Karens gung ho about being moral policing busy bodies whom do nothing to improve society and probably will defend the creepers as a price they are willing to let society pay so they can pretend their existence is justifiable.

of being upper middle class and living in the west. :smirk:

tell me about it.
The death threats Ive gotten are MOSTLY on facebook by people who have their entire profiles public so law enforcement wouldnt even have to bother searching much.
They DONT CARE if they are known or not, They will do what they do regardless.

Exactly.
No laws brokenā€¦no ToS violationā€¦just put them on ignore and move along.

Remember the Lifelock bonehead who put his SS number on the side of the bus or something to show how great his service wasā€¦then had his own identity stolen ?
google LifeLock CEO's Identity Stolen 13 Times

My hosting company told meā€¦if they WANT inā€¦they are GETTING in. Its just a matter of time. Keep good back ups.
If MAJOR companies like Yahoo and amazon and barns&noble cant keep our personal information safeā€¦NO ONE can.

20-25% is not a favorable ratio. Thatā€™s like bragging on a 20% approval rating. Suffice it to say, most of the community didnā€™t want the floodgates opened to Chris Hansen guests and other undesirables in terms of release of PPI.

1 last quick lesson in internet safety for the elf that wants peoples real names shown before I go, if your real name was showing right nowā€¦

Youā€™d pretty much be doxxed instantly, name, age, family history/business. Now anyone could find public records like where youā€™re registered to vote (also the address you registered with) etc, socials, family + their socials.

All we need to do is think about the horrors of people meeting up in real life.

ā€œIā€™m a young and nice boy whoā€™d like to meet other young and nice boys.ā€

And the one saying that is a 35 year old creep.

Yeah, having our REAL IDs listed would make such things far easier to pull off. OP is just being a troll. I mean, has anyone heard of doxxing and the horror stories attached to them?

Yeah, weā€™d see that happening. Regularly.

there ya go.
THIS is why I cant even share my websites when I talk about table top gaming.
The law requires my personal information to be connected to my domain registries.
Someone who knows how can easily track me down thru my own registered domain names.

unless you have enough money to construct enough shell corporations to hide anything actually leading back to you. They should make shell companies EASIER to setup for this reason alone :stuck_out_tongue:

Itā€™s far down into the thread for it to not matter.

Hereā€™s a link to it;

Itā€™s pretty cool tech

hehā€¦yeahā€¦check this out.
I had someone trying to talk to me on a forum years ago who thought I was a teenage boy, for some reason (I never mentioned my age ).
I was 40 at the time, lol.
Im 54 now.
When that person contacted me over there, I asked them who they thought I wasā€¦how old.
16 years old, they said.
Noā€¦Im 40ā€¦and you REALLY need to be very careful who you just start a conversation with and trying to get personal with online.

Nowā€¦I dont know for sure it was a younger person who contacted me. It might have been some 45 year old perv.
But that website is where my wife now of 15 years met, so it wasnt uncommon for people to just strike up conversations like that.

The web is NOT a safe space no matter how much we all want it to be. You have NO clue who is on the other end of the line

I look at that, see IoT, and thinkā€¦ how secure? :pirate_flag:

it is very interesting, tbh I thought we would just take the solar panel route where all lights have solar panels on them. Or the more fantasy yet less likely setting where we have biological bio luscient trees and plants to light our way as there was once an idea that was being worked on but i havent seen anything come out of that yet and its been years.

Exactly.

I mean, I have a friend of mine Iā€™ve known for over a decade. He was visiting folks in Arizona and we made arrangements to meet. But even before that we talked on the phone several times. Iā€™d known him for like 6-7 years at the time. My biggest fear was that heā€™d turn out to be some kind of weirdo.

Ironically we never met because he fumbled his cell phone into the toilet. Yeah, kind of hard to call someone with a damaged cell phone.

But yes, you really have to be cautious with people online.

I mean, I could actually be a big breasted nympho with half a dozen STDs floating around for all anyone knows!
