Using delves to shove folks into mythics

This is me…outside of World quests, I don’t participate in manual group making activities and run Delves only. Getting lucky with maybe getting one of two Gilded crest here and there is at least a path, but it would be so much better if more Runed crests could be attained from Delve related content.

I don’t think I agree with buffing crest drops from Delves.

I think we should be happy that we get Champion with a chance of one weekly piece of Hero gear.

This gear is WAY better than what a soloist was ever able to achieve in past expansions, and I kinda feel that we shouldn’t be pushing our luck or trying to ask for anything more.

That, and the recent crest buffs to Mythic, I think, was an answer of “why run M0-6 when Delves exist?” … the answer: Crests and Stones, along with getting more experience and more score.

If we buffed the crest acquisition in delves, then you’d basically be defeating the purpose of the Mythic buffs they just did (or are about to? I forget).

I am more than happy with getting Champion with the rare chance of Hero out of Delves.

I remember the days when people who only used RDF stopped at Heroic Dungeon gear (which would be Veteran by today’s terms).

I too am currently happy with getting Champion gear with a rare chance of Hero and rarer chance at Gilded crests. And I probably wouldn’t want a greater acquisition rate of Runed Crests if I was running Delves more frequently. But as is, the topic is “using Delves to shove folks into Mythics” and could be argued that some supposedly feel like they are being forced into Mythics because they are able to attain Runed Crests quicker in M+ rather than from Delve content.

I see it less as being “forced” and more as “incentivized” myself.

The line between the two is thin and blurred at times, but Blizz obviously wants to encourage you to attempt to cross over into M+, and it makes sense why they would want to do that.

But any encouragement at all is going to sound like coercion to some people, and you really can’t please everybody.

I think most people, though, are reasonable enough to understand that the higher crest acquisition is incentivizing rather than coercion, though.

M+ should have rewards that make you want to do it.

I say this as someone who doesn’t do M+ and is rather unlikely to attempt it.

I just want to say I love Delves and hope they expand them and to Blizzard and everyone that there is no circumstance ever that I will do Mythic anything. Thank you and have a nice day.

I just wanted to say I really appreciate your level headed perspective.

I can understand Blizz wanting to encourage crossing over to M+, but it just doesn’t work on me. I can’t stress enough that I honestly do not feel forced, incentivized or have any feeling for M+.

I am in the same boat.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with this.

The crests are there in M+ if you want to try for them. If not, you can continue to do delves hoping to someday get Hero on all slots on your character. Or maybe do delves to try to get just enough crests to upgrade one or two pieces (probably a weapon, right?).

Or take a break, or do an alt, or some other activity like crafting.

It’s OK to set a goal that’s less-than-BiS and be happy to achieve it and then take a break or do something else in the game for awhile until Season 2 comes out.

Out of curiosity, if bliz were to create a reward giving piece of solo content, or difficulty of solo content that you could not do. Would that be ok with you?

Say hypothetically a “mythic” of solo progression, whatever that may look like.

Would you steer clear of it, rise to a new challenge, or be disappointed / otherwise negative towards it’s existence?

I’ve just accepted 619/620 as the maximum gear level this season. I don’t need to go above it myself. Probably won’t even get there due to a lack of maps and key availability.

I think that already exists in the form of ?? Zekvir.

Most Delvers are never going to clear that lol

I don’t fully agree with that at all. Delves imo were made as a way for people to solo, play with a couple of friends or do the full 5 person group as an extra end game way to get loot. Granted if they wanted to upgrade their loot they will need to do some raiding and/or m+ but those who don’t do either of those 2 are probably fine with the gear they have then.

I will say though it does help people if they wanted to get into raiding or higher m+ but I don’t think Delves were made to shove people into mythics.

To be clear I meant rewards in terms of ilvl progression. And while zekvir is hard in that it tests skills solo players likely have not developed at all, it doesn’t test them particularly strongly compared to actual mythic content.

Think I would be fine with Zek’vir ?? rewarding a one time mythic piece. Probably only because I play evoker.

Don’t know how easy I’d find the fight if I played something else.

Evoker is probably the hardest class to do the fight on. And again I think while the skills zekvir tests are generally underdeveloped in the wider playerbase, the fight itself doesn’t really compare to actual mythic content. Mainly due to its lack of a DPS check.

What do you think about if eggs got a scaling HP buff per additional egg spawned? or something along those lines.

I got my kill after 9 mins, while I think others in similar gear have done so in six.

I think the fight’s been and gone, and for what it’s trying to do (Teach a new skillset to players who have previously not needed it) it’s fine. It’s not mythic gear awarding content and it doesn’t need to be, but I do hope the Season 2 equivalent at least requires players to have more ilvl than 605.

My view of mythic is obviously very different from yours. From my perspective, my mythic content is being able to solo Zekvir ??, and being able to complete a T12 where the only rewards are achievements. My time played these days have dwindled due to life stuff, and am looking forward to pushing farther during the holiday to see if I can rise to the challenge and overcome it. If I am unable to do complete them this season, then there’s next season’s achievements and the one after that, etc.,.

Yes this is why I posed it as a hypothetical, I was curious to see how people would feel if they reached a wall within their own content pillar before being able to finish gear progression from that pillar.
