The “Classic”, “Retailer” labels used in this context describe a player’s particular approach to WoW.
If you’re a Classic Andy, you have an affinity for a particular expansion, favoring it over any other version.
If you’re a Retailer, you have no affinity to any particular version of WoW and will play anything that feels relatively new. That’s why retailers are mainly the ones that shell out 40-60 dollars every new expansion cycle. Also, retailers are the ones more likely to buy boosts in classic since they have little to no vested interest in immersing themselves in any particular version.
Now these two labels are not mutually exclusive; A retailer that wants to dabble in a little TBC didn’t suddenly become a classic player/TBC Andy.
Same thing with a Classic Andy. They may want to dabble in a little retail just to get their beak wet, but that didn’t suddenly mean they became a retailer.
These definitions themselves are subjective; this is just my take on what loosely defines classic/retail, based on how other posters throw these labels around.
Yes it’s entirely possible. It seems like people are just reading the bolded points rather than the solution below it, but continue…
At the pace they’ve released phases of Cata, it is too quick for MoP which had more to do than Cata. Again, you’re not reading my detailed explanations, but continue…
AGAIN, you are not reading my post. I said to permanently implement JJ throughout the later half of each phase to encourage consistent activity/subs, but CONTINUE…
ahh there it is. Thank you for contributing nothing to this post that is supposed to be an open discussion. Have a wonderful day
I see the same 30-40 people on these cataclysm forums every single post. And if that is not a testament to the game being severely lacking in players I don’t know what is. Blizzard needs to fix this and fix it fast. If mop comes out half-baked again like cata, the entire expansion will be dead in 2 months. I agree and disagree with what you have said. Players on Benediction and Faerlina will not want to move and be forced onto 1 pvp realm. They are used to their squishy pve and mega server imbalance.
It is unfortunate but they will all whine and complain if blizzard does that. Then everyone will unsub from those realms. The majority of the player base does not play it for pvp. You and i are in the minority in that regard. Pvp will always be an after thought. Especially if the version we play isn’t Seasons of discovery or Anniversary.
But I do agree there should be free transfers to all dead pvp realms to grobbulus and a few other pvp realms. They need to consolidate all the pvp players on dead realms and completely close them out. Give them free transfer options to, Grobbulus, Arugal, Benediction, Mankrik, Pagle, Faerlina and Whitemane. Players that are from pvp realms should get an option to only transfer to pvp realms accordingly. For the us and oceanic these are the best realms to fill and should be the only options going forward. ONLY pvp realms they should close out. I’m hugely against closing out pve realms and forcing pve players from those realms to jump ship.
your not understanding they can’t fix the imbalance, MOP saw a massive shift to Horde, I was there the racials horde had finally made a big enough difference that the PVE crowd and pvp crowd started mass switching, that started in CATa but then accelerated in MOP, by original MOP world pvp was dead, faction balance didn’t exist on any server. Face it pvp is dead, it died back then and it died here.
Add LFR and maybe casuals, the lifeblood of any MMO game, will return / stay. People don’t like playing unbalanced PvP, and especially don’t want forced wPvP where they get ganked every 2 minutes by max level “elite players” when they are trying to level.
Oh don’t forget when people used to complain about this the response from those “elite” PvP bros was PVP happened on a PVP server, so most of us just went to a PVE server and then they got all angry that their PVP died.
It can and should be fixed prior to MoP official release. Please take a look below on how this can be fixed.
The current Alliance dominated servers are:
Pagle (PvE)
Benediction (PvP)
Atiesh (PvE)
The current Horde dominated servers are:
Mankrik (PvE)
Faerlina (PvP)
Whitemane (PvP)
The reality is that the above PvP servers essentially function as a PvE server.
The one and only balanced PvP server is Grobbulus (currently almost dead).
The solution?
Offer free-xfers off of those realms onto either a single PvE server OR the one and only true PvP server which is Grobbulus (with faction balance control implemented).
Example; offer a free x-fer to everyone on Benediction and Atiesh to either Pagle or Grobbulus.
Also offer free-xfers from everyone on Whitemane and Faerlina to either Mankrik or Grobbulus.
The result?
You have one balanced PvP server being Grobbulus and one Alliance dominated PvE server and one Horde dominated PvE server.
They already tried that. No one took them because no one wanted to take responsibility for fixing the problem they were complaining about
The players will never take it upon themselves to fix a player-made issue. “It’s not player-made Blizz should’ve enforced faction balance!” they tried that too, people complained endlessly about not being able to play on their friends’ server because everyone wanted to play one faction and no one was balancing the other
First off nobody from Ben or Atiesh wants to go to a PVP server we rolled PvE because we’re no longer masochists to base our entire self-worth on ganking noobs we instead prefer to just simply play the game, most of us tried PvP servers at some point and got fed up after being ganked for the uptinth time by a rogue who had a buddy sitting in the graveyard and we just quit and went to a nice PVE server.
Second point people aren’t going to take the transfer and if you forcefully relocate them they’re likely to quit lizard already tried that when they did the server merging several people that didn’t want to relocate that were forced off and their deals got scrambled and they didn’t get to keep their guild or anything else a lot of those people just trade a quit if you force them you’re just going to lose a large part of them.
You need to come to terms with the fact that PVP especially world PvP is death it died in 2009 and it’s not coming back
The further ad of my point I started off while on a server called the underbug now fun little fact Christmas 2009 me and a bunch of other people that were lonely and on the alliance side which was mass underrepresented we managed to take over crossroads because most the word players weren’t on the server they were gone and we managed to basically lock down crossroads with 80 of us how do we tried that outside of Christmas time we would have been blown away by the horde but the point remains that just from this one example real PVP is not fun I seriously got the hoard had funny crossroads for those 3 hours we controlled it. World PvP has never ever ever really been about a fun exciting or engaging experience that’s why Blizzard put battlegrounds in the game yeah they were always playing but there’s a reason they got him in it’s because world PvP matters on how many people you can have show up on your side I want it’s like a school year girl it’s not fair it’s not balanced and it’s just one big old pile of unfun if you want the PVP go into your battlegrounds
I clearly stated that a 99.99/0.01 faction server is PvE regardless of what anyone says.
I do not think you even bothered to read my suggestion and went on a rampage of why you got camped back in 2009 lol actual clown.
They will take it if you give only two options. Like I said, people on Bene can either move to Pagle or Grob. There, problem solved.
They can roll on the 99:1 PvE server then. OR if they’re on Grob, they can swap factions. There’s many options as to how someone can play with their friends.
There will probably be an another round of server consolidations, if this happens, it will be one server per server type.
I’m not going to say that the abuse doesn’t exist but what I will say is that the vote kick abuse is not a big deal that some people make it ought to be.
I have dragged through my DK tank in Wrath classic when he wasn’t in bis from last phase for gammas and I can recall that I was kicked once for nothing I didnt do anything that I felt that I deserved it, I have been in every dungeon run and I wasnt holding the group back or anything (Maybe early on it can be rough for me but its still doable). Did the same thing with my druid in infernals last phase and I havent gotten kicked at all during that.
I dont know if I’m out of touch but if this is happening to you on a regular basis then I dont think that there is “abuse” here and its moreso that there is something that went on those runs where you could be the problem and the groups are choosing to remove you because of the issues and the problems that you could be causing.
Who is this we you speak of? I’m a PVE player and I’m on Whitemane, but I can AFK out in the world with no worry of being ganked because you are lucky to even see 1 Alliance player per week.
