[UPDATED] Mage and Paladin Tuning Incoming - July 18

Can we get some tuning on ret, every hunter spec and ww please? They have been under performing by at least 5% for a couple of months now. You hit mage within days by don’t help low classes for entire patches.

All I know is that my DPS went up 50-70% since I didn’t play meta and my niche build is now one of the best /shrug

Either way, a 5% aoe nerf is acceptable at least, and you didn’t touch ray of frost, so thanks for that.

Good, but where is hunter buffs?

Frost is doing quite well in keys, and it’s hard to really say for raid because everyone basically either hardswapped Fire or kept on Arcane. Similar to how in VOTI everyone was Arcane, Frost got buffed, and then proceeded to be the highest ST in the game by a country mile.

We really gotta have some “What About Me” music playing in the background up in this thread.

The most oppressed class in WoW history. Feels bad man.

Nice. Love seeing fire nerfs because Blizz can’t accurately account for Augvoker damage buff via ignite. Joke of a company tbh. Cause their own problems and are not doing the right things to fix them

You are permanently removing fires longstanding niche of uncapped stacked burst aoe. Why? The tuning is the problem. If you are going to kneecap, in perpetuity, fires ground targeted aoe, do the same for rain of fire, blizzard, and earthquake. Or, better yet, do not implement a target cap.

The original justification for target caps included ground targeted aoe being providing an uncapped niche. You have somewhat quickly decided to remove this from fire rather than just adjusting numbers

Blizz saw the m+ meta being exclusively SP, Aug evoker and then sometimes a mage and went “whats that mage doing there?! to the bin with you.”

Ah. This is exactly what the Paladin forums were doing after the rework. Absolutely bonkers AoE/ST and PvP dominance and we got nerfed in line. The brief time before the nerf there were still some clamoring about how awful we still were.

Rofl you know this isn’t true. I get wanting to keep your fresh new rework op. But lying when there are plenty of statistics of mages without either a priest or aug in the group is something.

to anyone demanding nerfs to augmentation:

thank you

Pure number tuning, the absolute best kind.
Thanks for making mages super fun again, I trust the numbers will settle in an acceptable place soon enough

I just hope that these ST nerfs weren’t because the log hooks with Augmentation are bugged currently. If the log hooks are fixed and it shows that Fire wasn’t outperforming by how much it was thought to at first, I hope some of these nerfs get reverted.

We just got here. Calm down.

Don’t let this stop you. Frost, at least, is still gonna crush in a lot of situations. In keys the bulk of my damage is from glacial spike, and that’s being left untouched. It lands between 1 and 2 million everytime I cast it, since splitting ice has no reduction on the second target now. Just freeze, or ice/frost nova the end of the cast for double shattered spikes. Frost is still gonna be huge.

Edit: Just did spme quick math, and while I’m not the best frost mage ever, this amounts to about a 2K DPS loss, from 116K overall. Pretty minor.

They can’t nerf aug evokers. If they do, they become completely useless and are immediately a dead spec. Blizzard didn’t think it through.
