[UPDATED AUG 25] Dragonriding and You: Ascending to New Heights of Skill

Barbershop for mounts.

I am here for it.

Once you figure out what to do, most vehicle missions are rather simple.

Spam the 1 key as the Angel smurf flies you around Maldraxxis.
Rain “sparkling mayhem” down on the bad goat people.
Guide the flaming elemental around the beach in Zuldazar and kill a bunch of goblins there.

Not very hard at all

I think vechiles are clunky due to movement but dragon riding is all about movement I like the idea of the replacement action bar as it means I don’t need to remap extra keys. I think this will work out better.

My point is, that the programming for most of these vehicle interfaces is total crap if you have to actually aim at something and hit it to succeed, and don’t get me started on the flappy bird-type garbage. That quest in Ardenweald that you can aim at the mobs and only hit them 1/3 of the time (and the same for any other vehicle that has a reticule-type mechanic)? The one in Bastion where you have to click the spear repeatedly to get it to actually fly you up to the mob to kill the rider–and once you get there, you can’t see your own character portrait, so you have no idea how many combo points or shards you have, or even see your own HP? Yeah, those are really programmed well.

It’s not about figuring out what to do. It’s about quality programming that is seamless and invisible, and Blizzard doesn’t do it well.

I will agree to this.
there are many things that, while not exactly hard to do, are kind of clunky and could be done better

Hmm?

Your entire original comment is a projection of your opinion on others?

Overreacting like wtf, it’s a new fun system. This is why we can’t have fun things, people just complain and say “Blizzard is doing this to spite players”, if this is the kind of stuff Blizzard does to spite us then please spite us more!

Love the dragon riding stuff! Super excited to try it out!!
The customizations will be wild to see with everyone flying around!
I’m going to keep suggesting that the dracthyr have a “mount form” that is just the actual full dragon riding without a “rider” model. This would solve it being really jarring for dragon characters to ride around on other dragons but not separate them too much from every other race, especially now with the passenger thing! We even already have the sandstone drake so it’s not unheard of and would fit their lore so far. I just think it would be nice for them to have a “real” dragon form even if it’s something like “too hard to maintain” for them to be in it other than for traveling. I feel like the lore and needed mechanics so far would back it up I guess.

Then they should have just added it as an extra thing and give us regular flying from day 1. Everyone wins, no complaints about spitefulness.

Then people would cry about how they HAVE to use dragon riding to keep up.

Every player uses flying, so these changes will affect EVERY player. Flying is something I do dozens to hundreds of times a day. I get motion sickness, and have slower than average reflexes. This doesn’t sound fun to me, it sounds like the reason I won’t participate in this expansion.

This has been on my mind since announced. I get sick if I spin my office chair too fast while getting up. I lurch forward whenever I go to move in-game but hit the wrong button and nothing happens. I feel this is going to be a nightmare for me.

This will get old and annoying in less than 2 weeks and then we will be stuck with it for months.

Just allow regular flying along-side it.

Plus being stuck with a dragon mount for up to half an expansion sounds terrible.

No, druids are NOT dragons. They cannot do the same thing. If anything you’d get an inferior version like Dracthyr do.

Same, and that’s fine in a game like wow.

If I wanted dragon flying I would go play Guild Wars 2 its just a blatant rip off of flying in Guild Wars.

Yay Dragonriding
