There are tank trinkets in Shadowlands?
You might be doing something wrong that youāre not aware of then. I almost never have to kite in anything under a 17 - and since I reached 221 item level even 18ās are becoming fairly easy to face tank. I would highly recommend looking at some guides or watching a high end BDK on twitch <3
ā¦seriously? You want to tune kiting down by nerfing DoTsā¦ the portion of total damage for which varies across each and every tank? At best, the DoTs get nerfed, the DoT-heavy tanks fall undertuned, their non-DoT damage is increased to a point of homogeneity, and then weāre right back where we started.
People have been asking since release for any (leading) entry on a threat table to fade (until falling to the second highest threat) over time. Such would punish moving away at cost to uptime far more broadly and appropriately than would nerfing DoT damage.
Lets try SoA as a example.
*1st pull has to be 6 mobs and optionally robot as well if affixes are ideal, gotta kite.
*Trash pack before first boss i have to kite but not the entire pull, just after my cds are down.
*The Cats speak for themselves as so do the packs with several snakes.
*Trash pack before 2nd boss unless someone actually spears it, in which case usually enough of it dies so i donāt need to kite there.
Rest is just skipped and we do the pack of spear guys you have to LoS and thats it. But thats a large chunk of the dungeon trash that needs kite tanking as a whole.
I do, been playing blood for years. This expac doesnāt hold as much interest for me for M+ compared to others when i do what guides and such tell me and iām still dying if i donāt kite as i pointed on the SoA example above.
Donāt forget those huge skeletal packs in DoS that melee for magic damageā¦
I donāt kite any of these - even in the 18 I timed I didnāt kite any of those packs. Something else is going wrong itās not the class.
A few tank dots are overtuned by a silly amount and pretty much says you have to kite. MoTS, despite a easy dungeon otherwise, has a few examples on the pre-1st boss trash. The trash of SD does as well, and especially necrotic wake does. Albeit necrotic is less the dots and more the tenderize stacks making the entire thing a pain to tank, but still counts. Its a tank-swap debuff on a content where you have 1 tank and done by trash thats incredibly annoying to tank without having a dps or something else taunt when you run.
So by ātank DoTsā (DoTs applied by the tank) you actually meant āenemy DoTsāā¦, essentially the exact opposite?
^^This. Also DoS is one of the most lopsisded dungeons iāve done in terms of difficult constantly flipping according to the affixes. This week DoS is on its worst but in other weeks its nowhere as bad outside maybe grievous.
anti magic shell prevents the debuff that kills you on that trash - you can also drop anti magic zone and face tank it. Another method is to stun one before they cast it and desync the two from hitting you at the same time. <3
Now you are trolling. There is no way you are facetanking the cat trash for long unless you have dps destroying the cats in mere seconds or a druid using trees to aid you. Having done this ones, i donāt buy that argument.
What about necrotic wake then? You are telling me AMS allows me to reset stacks of tenderize now? Also its a 1 min cd and it lasts a few seconds, so its not always up. And i DO aim to use my cds every time they are up.
Good, this 10% damage reduction is welcome, along with the fix to VDH tanks.
Hopefully they will get more nerfs closer to 9.1 to drop them down a bit.
AMS doesnāt work on tenderize but you can get the engineering belt that drops a taunt mechanic, if you drop it at the right moment you can reset your stacks.
Yup, face tanked it. We had a good laugh about it too, maintained 14k HPS DK tank shenanigans. Healer made a jab about how he wished he could pump that hard.
You got it, guess iām used to say it that wayā¦ but yes. Trash dots or debuffs are just naaaasty in some areas, with NW trash before 3rd boss being some of the worst offenders. There is also DoS albeit its not really the dots and more the overall melee damage and the affixes constantly shifting the difficult around(this week with necrotic+inspiring is just cruel).
While welcome, I feel this change is sort of lazy.
Some tanks really donāt need more physical damage reduction and this is just kicking the can down the road.
I hope you seriously consider nerfing tank damage taken to make this overall change net neutral in PvP too. While tanks have a use in certain RBG maps, protection paladins are literally anti-fun in arena, and the thought of them taking 10% less overall damage is really dumb.
While youāre looking at tanks you might want to consider the damage that tanks actually do right now too. Some have a massive advantage in both single target and AoE, while others are completely lagging behind. Druids and Paladins are leap years ahead of other tanks, while monks/warriors are middling, and DKs/DHs are rounding out the bottom (granted DH AoE is okay, but itās ST is awful).
This is also largely on your DPS. On my main, Iām more than happy to call and instantly sac my pet to prevent your death by resetting your Tenderize. Same from DbtS or ER + Taunt or Intervene, Earth Elemental, Trees, or even an at-distance Taunt-Shadowmeld, etc.
Iām venthyr and run with a holy priest - > he puts guardian spirit on me which makes me basically immortal as a DK. Then I venthyr portal away, and he grips me back when they get near. Itās a non issue in our group.
Nice.
Holy Priest honestly does feel pretty underrated, especially on specs with their own cheat death to double up with.
(Personally, though, Iāve just been using GS as a mock-external, opening with the nuke heal and then spamming to charge another. Granted, if it comes down to a high key, only the Holy Paladin or Shaman get invites anyways.)
