Yeah that would be so cool! Zones attacked on a timer…
My partner and I might be interested depending on times and whatnot.
I think its settled then. Seems like a large enough amount of interest to make the best out of this situation. I dont mind organizing out initial meet up. Would you all prefer this to be on another forum post? Or just keep this running? Ill write up some stuff tonight and post it after my guild’s RP event tomorrow.
The only thing that makes me want to get out in front of this and plan it is because we dont know when pre-patch will be and we also dont quite know when the scourge invasion will take place. Which is also realistic and adds a flavor of mystery and anxiety to the situation.
There were also Argent NPCs stationed at city chokepoints who would either cleanse anyone within 30 yards with the disease debuff, or begin attacking (quite effectively) any ghouls within range with powerful light lasers. Cities were generally pretty safe, but that was before flying in the old world, so it might be easier now to sneak the disease into the center.
Though, I will say…I am unbelievably excited for the prelaunch. One of the BEST spontaneous RP events I ever had was during the Wrath prelaunch event’s final days. I was leveling a human mage at the time, and in Darkshire. There was a group of paladins with a few priests and a warrior gathering to fan out into the woods to investigate reports of infected swarms of ghouls, and cultist activity. Turns out another guild had actually set up an infection petre dish of sorts at Raven Hill and were gathering people to repeatedly get infected and run out into the woods scaring the cruppy out of people (tons of fun honestly, I was questing and this happened to me but I didn’t even get mad - this is the kind of madness I joined an MMO to see!). I got conscripted into this group to help them and we ran around, until the paladin in charge of cleansing the infected was ICly mind controlled by the priest to run into this group of zombies that had sighted us. The priest turned out to be a member of the Cult of the Damned and had sent several of the members into pockets like this, where they were fighting to stay alive, and god…it was so much fun. At the end, someone’s character pushed the priest into the swarm that was chasing us and got him killed, and we made our way back to Darkshire. A few people killed their characters off, using that as the event that got them taken away by the Scourge and turned into Death Knights of Acherus.
So this is going to come off as a bit preachy but stay with me, folks. I HIGHLY suggest that anyone dreading the prelaunch event give it a chance and use the limited nature of it to really immerse yourselves in the chaos of a zombie appocalypse! We don’t get a lot of events like this and it won’t be long, so if you don’t find it fun, that’s okay - not everyone is going to, but just remember that there are a lot of people who love this sort of thing and don’t get to experience it very often! Just wait it out and let people have fun, don’t discourage Blizz from trying events like this, p-l-e-a-s-e. We’ve had a ton of lackluster prelaunches in the past because Blizz overreacted to backlash over the negative aspects of some of the events.
Move RP to safer locales. Remember, this is a zombie invasion - nowhere is supposed to really be safe. Take it into account, try to turn it into something unique, or just be careful for the short duration it’ll be chaotic.
Yes yes yes. That is so awesome and I couldn’t agree more. This could be a great thing. Ill write up a new forum post tomorrow for a gathering. Stoked.
I would love to be involved (potentially with my Horde guild - Lordaeron Unbound) if timezones allow. (Am an Aussie)
You want it? You got it. Here is the official post for this event. Ill post any future updates there. Cant wait to see yall there.
