Kiwis are not in any way paying less, they already pay more even, a 1 month sub is NZ$24 and a token is NZ$32… of all countries in the US region, NZ already has the second highest prices (only japan is slightly more expensive).
See it more of a cost correction, not defending it but before this AUD prices were closer to the south american prices that chile or Mexico pay rather than what other developed countries pay… as a bonus of this change, if you pay with ingame gold, your gold purchasing power goes alot further as you will need to redeem fewer tokens to buy just about anything off the blizzard shop. Also the return rate is 74% wich is much higher than the 68% it used to be and closer to what other countries get.
Really the more you look at it, the more its just putting au sub prices in line with other countries.
That’s not how pricing changes work. Service and product prices normally change over time due to inflation, competition, advances in technology, and the costs to develop, produce, and maintain those services and products. Add selling across national borders in different currencies to the mix and you’ve got yet another factor.
I just drank a fifth of vodka,
Dare me to drive? (Go ahead) all my life I was very deprived
I ain’t had good WOW in years, and my palms are too hairy to hide
(Whoops!) Clothes ripped like the Incredible Hulk
Kadgar spit when I talk, I’ll love anything that flys.
When I was little I used to get so hungry I would throw fits
How you gonna pay for this sub its gone up a shiv.
I lay awake and strap myself in the bed
Put a bulletproof vest on and shoot myself in the head (Bang!)
I’m steamin’ mad (Argh!) And by the way when you see my sub? (Yeah?)
Tell it that I wana play, in this dream I had
blizzard is a clown nowdays or something? 20 USD PER MONTH? IM FROM LATAM AND THIS IS A JOKE XD, here the price is 14 USD something like those 20 usd in australia, when you say a friend to play a game wich don’t have even a servers is latam so your ping gonna be 200ms because of the distance, also you need to pay 14 usd per every month it’s a joke, the funny thing is the game is made for ‘’ low specs pc ‘’ because more people can play, absolute FAKE they only said that because the game is really old and they don’t want to change the thing because it’s too expensive or saying in others words activision want utility and don’t invest.
For example the textures are terrible and there is no reason for no update the textures, for example the characters have worse textures in the chest, this is very annoying.
We pay for the most expensive game and it’s not worth in my opinion, i usually play the game 1 or 2 months in the expansions because this game is freacking expensive, in 1 year you can upgrade your video card !! complete joke the thing of we can’t update the game because of the low specs xD
Imagine if they make the wow 2, they gonna sell it for something like 999 usd and 39 usd per month XD
Literally nothing you said makes any sense, Ragnaros.
Argentina bnet subscriptions are $3 USD per month. A lot of people abusing this with VPNs. People boting abuse this. People multiboxing abused this. People server transferring Classic mats from low pop servers like Lotus/consumes are abusing this ($6 USD).
If you know someone with separate summoner/clicker/scout/bank accounts they are most likely abusing this.
Countries and regions paying significantly less for subscriptions/ingame services SHOULD NOT be playing on North American/Oceanic servers.
Wouldn’t believe everything you read on the internet( the actual Australian wage for most adults single income is around 40,000 a year not the trumped up numbers they post online.
Check out department of fair trading repairs replacements and refunds. If you can find a criteria that matches Australian consumer guarantees refer the matter to them if blizz wont grant it (I am guessing its standard policy to deny refunds until you insist up to a point, just like insurance claims).
Any Aussie that has issues with businesses not granting refunds should know their rights, this isnt America people have protection from illegal businesses practices (that they dont have to drag through the courts, gov departments will handle it and most times you will get your way)… this is probably part of why we will soon be paying ~$3 more a month.
I usually pay a 6month sub, and a ongoing monthly sub so my son can play too. Going from 85 to 103 is a bit of a jump. Unfortunately looks like ill be only playing to April, 480$approx a year just to keep our accounts active. Unless something amazing happens in SL I think my family accounts will stay deactivated. $480approx this year for 2, next year probably $520, an so on an so on. GG
that is for you. I don’t care about the argentina thing, im not from argentina, im from chile and im paying the price of Chile sub, so your entire statement about south america is invalid.
Blizzard really don’t understand their product anymore. A family subscription plan seems like a no brainer. People tend to play longer/regularly when connected with friends/family.
I paid $24 a month for SWTOR a few months ago with a break from WOW. I see a 6 months sub for wow as pretty cheap entertainment, even at $20 a month. Please don’t comment about how expensive a WOW sub is if you smoke @$A35 a pack and and drink $A60 a slab. There was also in increase in Netflix and Spotify as well. Stuff costs - simple.
and the subs there keep getting hiked, its a byproduct of hyper inflation and a worthless currency… if they keep doubling the price, eventually it will be out of reach for the local population… blizzard has already had to move the decimal place a few times in regards to Argentinian currency.
Also you cant just change your account to Argentina, you would need to do this via support and they will only do that if they can verify residency/nationality… The hyper inflation is also why blizzard doesn’t even sell wow tokens in that country anymore. Blizzard also doesn’t allow you to send gifts and puts IP restrictions on purchases in countries with super inflating currencies, its meant for the local population to be able to afford to play, not as a loophole for other wealthier countries. for the record in the past few years alone the ARS has lost 90% of its value.
Not interested in shills, trolls or replies of “Can I has your stuff?” as that’s not who this post is for, and won’t be back to read them anyway so you’ll be wasting your time lol. This post is only for those Aussies who have decided that Activision no longer deserves their hard earned and are wondering whether you can still get refunds for your Shadowlands pre-purchase. The answer is yes you can as I have just completed doing so for my purchase done earlier in the year, as evidenced below. For those that choose to stay on good luck in Shadowlands and have fun. It’s been a fun ride through all these years but the time has come to say farewell for me. The saved monthly sub will pay for both Netflix and Amazon Prime and the refund of Shadowlands covers the cost of Cyberpunk with change, so all good. Shadowlands refund
For anyone thinking about it, just a heads up that I did get a refund on my sub as well. After the initial refusal I responded and was successful. I suspect if people request a refund on sub time the first up response is an automatic no, so just don’t take that first ‘no’ as the final answer.
To anyone I’ve played with over the years that may be reading this, it’s been fun, it’s just no longer worth it for me and this was just the final straw. GLHF
I’m sorry to quote you again, but I just noticed something that basically skipped my mind the first time seeing this post. Does this seem amiss to anyone else?
In a game that touts itself as an MMO?
There are games, now, (Squad, for example) that allow for full, open conflict between a hundred players, with complex physics calculations, movement, vehicles and everything all going on at the same time. And these aren’t even MMOs.
If a single game, with a single server can handle 100 people all doing that in a small space, surely 100 people simply standing around an NPC shouldn’t be an issue. What’s going on, there?
I can understand some lag if all of those people were using abilities and trying to kill each other (ala AV), but even then…
I paid once for Squad, and though I’m fairly bad at it, it’s provided intense 100-player battles without even a single hitch. All that without a subscription fee to keep their servers going, as well.
I understand it’s a different genre, and a game as stat-based as WoW can be computationally rather complicated in its own way, but it still baffles me.
There is probably a few factors at play, as a concept though CISC vs RISC complex instructions vs reduced instructions. Wow has to do a whole lot more… I am not saying I like it, personally I would of liked wow to make a clean break and rebuild a new modern engine rather than incrementally updating it.
Again if anyone can point me at a better game to play than wow I’ll look into it, for me wow just has that allure of early era savageness.
Australians mentioning that there is no price increase for NZ when they were paying the equivalent of $17.50NZD for something we pay $24NZD for is sad to see.
I’d save $4 per month by using AUD for my sub after this change.
Don’t expect the price to change if your currency gets stronger compared to the USD.
