Upcoming Australian Dollar (AUD) Price Changes for World of Warcraft Subscriptions, Game Time, and WoW Tokens

This is a gigantic bummer, assuming your from aus im sorry our government has let you down with an abysmal welfare safety net. I doubt they will overturn this price change but sincerely hope they do as it’s more likely than the disability pension being raised at the moment. Hopefully something works out for you can you can get back into wow

Ahh apologies! Plenty of people here seem to be honestly shocked with the idea

I reckon this is probably the tipping point for me refunding, this itself isn’t too big, but on top of all the red flags Shadowlands has shown us makes me fully anticipate not getting my money’s worth.

If it’s anything like BFA’s lack of content and updates I don’t see how it’s worth any more than the price of the expansion itself let alone a fee per MONTH.

NZ had its price hike awhile ago  we pay $24NZD/$21.7AUD per month.

I get what you’re saying but that’s not the case here. Look what happened in 2019 alone:

  • 800 employees sacked
  • remaining employees where underpaid
  • Their CEO took home $40 million dollars JUST for 2019

They would not be treading water if they hadn’t upped the price, they’re just greedy per usual. Icing on the cake is they decided to pull this move on the year everyone loses their jobs and are recovering financially from being stuck in quarantine.

Lol yeah but watch as they don’t though.

They don’t care about actually putting in extra effort for their price raise they just want the money.

Cancelled my sub and have successfully got my refund on the Shadowlands pre-order.

Now just working on getting a refund on the 6 months game time I won’t be using. I’d like to think after 12+ years of playing and paying they’d do me a solid and refund my game time but who knows. First response was not all that promising:

With regards to refunding game time, I’m afraid we cannot do that at this moment as there’s too much playtime on it.

I see so many people threatening to quit while owning store mounts and collector edition items. The complaints about NZ not getting an increase is literally crab bucket mentality as well.
If this is actually the tipping point for you and you are quitting then I actual congratulate you for voting with your wallet rather than virtue signalling like most of the people here. Good luck to those who are fighting for their refunds, I hope you get them.

I can’t even remember the last time Oceanic players were even given a response from anyone at Blizzard - we tend to just be ignored, that is until they decided to finally turn their attention to us in the way of making us give them more money.

Can confirm i also refunded SL and i also refunded the 6 months of sub time that wasn’t active yet. so to everyone disillusioned VOTE WITH YOUR WALLETS!

its been a good ride. I already had wow positioned as a product that was already expensive with EXP Prices + Sub (which seems arbitrary at this point).

With this change it tilts it for me to being to expensive of an investment, especially considering the randomness in the quality of the development.

GGWP All!

the NZ prices are already more, a token over there costs NZ$ 32.00 for example… before this change Aus sub prices were basically on par which Chile/Mexico, now there closer to what what Canada/US pays.

NZ prices are actually the second highest prices in the region, only Japan has higher prices within the US wow region.

On the plus side, the value for Australian players of their in-game gold will get a bonus from this as the tokens redeem for 3$ more (74% return on gold instead of 68%), and this change too will put AUD more in line with other currencies… for example while most people could buy a boost for 4 tokens, Australians used to always need 5, once a token redeems for 20$, it will only take 4 tokens for that 80$ char boost just like everyone else.

Bliz dont you make enough freaking money???
I mean you are the only company that gets away with charging full price for a game then add a monthy sub to it !!!
With the quality of BFA and all those that remained subed right through it, you should be gifting us a years sub for shadowlands!!
I really Freaking hate how greedy you F*^&wits are!!

Once enough players leave, they will close the Aussie servers and merge realms with NA. More money saving.

The game has not gotten better to justify the price hike, and in my opinion, the game is worse in Australia than it is in the US as a result of high ping instances, the warmode call to arms bonus being granted to the wrong faction, and the lack of Oceanic RP servers.
If you want to charge us more, I expect to start receiving at minimum the same level of quality Americans experience.

They don’t need to improve productivity to justify a price hike since we where getting a VERY good deal before hand. This is just capitalism do you think the new iPhone is worth upgrading to, spending $1000 on? does it have value for money if you still have old model? A company that does not make more money than last year is not worth investing in as a publicly traded company. They have 0 incentive to look out for the little guy (Australia) when they can make more money from us because myself and others will continue to pay for what I consider a worthwhile game. Do I wish it was cheaper? Of course I don’t WANT to spend more money but I’m kinda ok with at least this I’d be over the moon if they cut subs and relied on the 1billion+ they get in micro transactions. But next year they will need another 10% increase in micro transaction/revenue in order to be competitive as a public company, you need unstoppable growth. These guys aren’t a company interested in providing fun and entertainment to the masses unless it makes them money.

From the perspective of the consumer (me), the product needs to be better before I pay more for it.

I’ll pay 20 bucks a month when I can hit 6 targets at the same time

I’m not here to complain about why our NZ brothers and sisters are paying less than us etc. I don’t see why we need to point fingers at fellow players when it’s Blizzard making these decisions.

If your company decides to raise the price of subscription, I expect more quality improvements in oceanic realms. I can’t even have a smooth target dummy practise in boralus without a second delay not to mention the lag that’s happening with rare mobs with the pre patch even though corruption is gone.

Further more, I expect to see day and night cycles fixed with maintenance times displayed in AUS time as mentioned by fellow Aussies and other points that I have missed.

I have bought a 6 month sub for the first time as shadowlands is about to hit (I really couldn’t care less about the transmog that comes with it). If it turns out the same half assed expansion like BFA was (no communication with your players), after the sub runs out that’s probably it for me.

Finally, raising the prices during these hard times is a piss poor move on your end.
