Upcoming Australian Dollar (AUD) Price Changes for World of Warcraft Subscriptions, Game Time, and WoW Tokens

that’s how it is for most countries, I pay 18.99 CDN + TAX, which is still more than the proposed AUD.

Is there going to be any options for Family Subscriptions? I have been subbed since 2004 and now have a wife and 2 kids that play. 20% increase is a bit rough especially when I’m paying 4 subs.

back in release iirc, it was just USD, so paying in Aus my sub cost would fluctuate based on exchange, not greatly of course. $1 up or a $1 down give or take.

but i remember nearly a decade ago a period where it was cheaper to buy in the US and pay delivery that to buy in Aus because the exchange rate was practically 1:1

i’d really like a less vague reasoning than “variety of factors” because as i see it, when yoiu throw out vague answers and reasoning its because you know the real reason wont float =/

but the timing on it seems terrible. midst of a pandemic, expansion delay… its probably not the smartest time to ask for more money.

so how do we change our location to Argentina Blizzard?? or are you still letting all the Aussies and everyone else do that by default… feels pretty bloody dirty to me. at least we know when a mass unsub will happen.

I love being flagged as “Trolling” for speaking my opinion on how it’s wrong, Pathetic and unjust to hike prices for one group of people, God i love the wow community.

Essential items are charged through the roof too so?

I mean, that’s how it was for everyone. I used to pay 14.99 USD which would later get converted to CDN on my CC.

Here is the original WoW account creation screenshot, made on day 1 of release.

and this is my current prices (tax then gets added to this)

Its not one group of people, you are actually one of the latest ones, not the first.

I have a thread in GD not oceanic GD and i have like 7 posts “Flagged for trolling” by the automated system

Just unsubscribe and don’t buy shadowlands and request refund if you pre purchased

The first blue post we get in years just turns out to be a lazy copy/paste job of a 2.5 year old blog post saying they want us to pay more money. Such dismal community management.

what is your point? you pay more because you earn more. Otherwise, you’ll be just be pooping out millionaires in Australia just from investing all the excess income.

The biggest thing that some of these Americans, etc are forgetting is yes we pay less but we also earn less especially in 2020 when our country is on the verge of a recession if we aren’t in one already with huge numbers of our population being unemployed for 6 months+ due to not only covid but also natural disasters like the massive bush fires we had at the start of the year.
This is completely in poor taste blizz…
I think I will get the a new 6month sub and let it run out WoW is not worth that amount of money

No it’s not. It’s not becoming more work for you to provide the game for us and we’re not getting anything more for the price increase. It’s just a bump to your profits.

Happy expansion launch, Australia!

Worth a tiny bit less, but it hasn’t dropped in its value against the US dollar.

As a side note to anyone displeased with this change, make sure that you are making your voices heard outside of the forums, too. It’s been clear for a long time that Blizzard pays NO attention to the Oceanic forums, so make sure to also go through other channels.

Either through the in-game “Submit Suggestion” section of the Help menu if you’re choosing not to unsubscribe right now, or in the bottom of the unsub questionnaire if you do.

It’s understandable to be really annoyed with this decision, but do try and be civil in your contact with Blizzard; express your displeasure in no uncertain terms, but don’t hurl abuse. That’s less likely to be listened to, and chances are you aren’t going to be making your thoughts known directly to anyone who was personally involved with the decision. Don’t clobber the workers while you’re swinging at the board members.

I’d believe this more if you had ever even once lowered the cost “based on a variety of factors, including global and regional market conditions”.

This is the first expansion I’m not playing day one on.

I have cancelled and returned off and on over the years but this is the first time I have cancelled based on a price increase.

It’s not even a affordability issue, I have a good stable job with disposable income, its more than, it’s just not worth it right now with so many good alternatives.

In the future i might return for TBC classic next year but I won’t be playing shadowlands.

My single cancellation means nothing to blizz, but it’s really a shame the corporate greed has taken the reigns.

What rock do you live under if you think a company would willingly lose money by lowering prices but wouldn’t raise them in a nano second if they saw a potential profit or dare say it a loss

My disability pension hasn’t increased, and it was already a luxury item buying the subscription for WoW… After over a decade I think I finally need to stop. I really want to keep playing but I don’t think I can afford this :frowning: Gonna miss having friends I can hang out with because I can’t do so IRL.
What a depressing end to 2020. And I already opened my shadowlands physical copy…
