Upcoming Australian Dollar (AUD) Price Changes for World of Warcraft Subscriptions, Game Time, and WoW Tokens

Have you looked at the cost of living in Australia? It’s insane our 50 dollars goes far less than lots of other countries. Which comparatively means we are paying more.

Except the fact that they dont address these issues. When was the last time they gave Oceanic base a 1st release of an expansion? We are expected to pay the same or more for a worse experience of the game.

As I pointed out an influx of new cuatomers with covid forcing people indoors. Massive income reported in Q3 2020 (the highest they have had in 10 years)

In additions a delayed release date of the latest expansion of which some including myself prepaid for (reflects badly on the company).

Have they even bothered to address calendar time zone issues?

Even the most recent example, I had to stay up until 1am to try out the prepatch event on Wednesday morning or Id have had to wait until after work wednesday to experience it after the entire US timezones had experienced it first.

Stop catering to only part of your player base!!!

Exactly right mate. We pay top dollar for a second rate experience its just plan wrong and blizzard need to take a hard look at themselves. If your going to “move our price in line with other locations” I expect to experiences a future expansion before the US for once. Rather than being up at 3am to experience it the same time…

If any issues occurred at the launch if it happened at a good local time, there would be no staff on to fix them. Of course I’d love it if releases happened local for us but it ain’t happening. Then all the hard core US players would come to our severs to get a tiny advantage of extra play time.
You didn’t HAVE to stay up you wanted to because you enjoy the game I assume, again it sucks but be realistic

Edit: it’s a global game no matter what time they launch it will be a bad time for some one, and it’s easiest if they do it when they have staff on instead of paying extra to have software engineers on night shift

Perhaps the staff can stay up for a launch for once? Do they not love where they work???

Why as a customer am I expected to do odd hours for entertainment?

Why should I be treated as a second rate customer?

Edit note:
It has nothing to do with realistic its to do with customer experience. You cant charge us the same as someone who gets working calendar time zones and prime time for new expansion launches…

Umm if your work asked you to do unpaid overtime because you “loved” it would you? I doubt it. You are not being treated as second class. If they had completely localized OCE servers US would complain that we get things first, a significantly larger player base. The people racing for world first kills would all transfer and play on OCE servers it is not realistic. Not sure if your being obtuse on purpose

So? Who cares.

Your point is mute, the fact that you say a larger portion of the player base just reinforces my point about being treated as a second rate customer.

Again world first, so? Who cares…

If they want to transfer do it, if your that anal about being first it wont be an issue, most of the people in the race are paid to do it.

Its not like we want every expansion first just 1 would be a good change and is well earned imo.

Earned by what metric? World firsts matter a lot for the outward facing operation of wow, it’s what gets viewers on streamers platforms for the brief time window until the hype drops and numbers drop. If you follow any wow news it’s what gets hits just because it’s a small player base doesn’t mean people are not interested in it

Bahahah ok your just a troll, blizzard isn’t a bloody NGO

i wonder if you spent less time looking over your accounting spreadsheets you might have been able to release the expansion on time.

really the timing on this is terrible, delayed expansion + price hike… generally prices increases are acceptable when the quality either goes up or (rarely) stays where it is. you guys should focus on getting your product out on time before you think about holding out your hands for more money.

and before you blame it on covid and it being just a effect of it… consider that covid probably plays a heavy role in the “Variety of factors, including global and regional market conditions”

Your trying to justify the roll out of the expansion exclusively to one time zone. Its pathetic bro… its not necessary or reasonable. They have people believe it or not in australia that are capable of looking after an expansion roll out here…

“Well earned” it terms of ive played this game for 10 years and never seen an Australia based expansion roll out… its always been east to west time zone for the US lol. You could legit roll out an expansion at 9am in NY and it would be about 9pm here. Pretty fair both ways rather than waiting until home time when its 3/4am here…

A lot of Aussies are going to unsub because of this (rightfully so) when the Oceanic population is low enough already. The resulting lag caused by being forced to group with people on US realms more often is sure to drive even more people from the game when they realise they’re paying a premium for a faulty product. Blizzard already treats its Oceanic players like second-class citizens and until they start improving on things like the unbalanced warmode bonus, the lack of an OCE only toggle for LFG, and the fact that Blizz continues to ignore these very forums, the increase in price will remain unjustified.

Also the price hike come at a completely stupid time to do so. People are out of work here the tourist industry was decimated by covid and they are trying to find some comfort in home entertainment. Hold up lets crank up the price for you. When they had the highest earnings in 10 years and likely increased player base due to covid. Its Greed man. No other rational and logical answer.

Agreed they will lose me and my partner if we cant fund out gameplay from tokens. Unjustifyable and expensive.

3.55 isnt even a light price increase on a monthly sub. Thats almost 21% if you pay month to month…

The simple fact of the matter is this, they know they have a real stinker on their hands, they have had to push the game back months to try and fix it and they still havn’t yet you read about the beta their is still issues going on but they are releaseing out to everyone with the covs basicly gutted and classes still in a weird state since they once again made it that the borrowed power was what they balanced us on.

Shadowlands is more then likely going to be BFA2.0 and they know it so they are trying to milk as much money as they can early on before everyone sees what alot of people have been saying for ages well i know one thing they arn’t getting my money and most people i know have already canned their subs and are looking for another game to play which sucks since we have played this game for years thanks blizz.

Cancelling your sub because you cannot afford it or think it is overpriced is 100% valid and you should do it! But expecting, neigh DEMANDING a private company should make less money than they think they can bleed out of their customers is folly. Every publicly traded company does this no matter what their PR implies.
If you are thinking this is a bad move that will make them less money in the future I kinda doubt it, they pay their number crunchers to figure this out and I doubt they just did it on a whim. I think everyone’s problem here is realizing the way the world runs isn’t that amazing when your on the hard done by end

Have you looked at your disposable salary compared to lot of other countries? you guys are literally in the top 10 countries. Besides, cost of living doesnt matter for luxury. Try arguing they should sell you cheap Ferraris and cheap Gucci shirts.

They should charge you EXACTLY the conversion rate from USD to AUD if not more.

for the longest time that how it was.

it wouldnt suprised me if a had a good look back and found that the time when they changed that and added AUD as an option was when the AUD was stronger than it is now

During a global pandemic you raise the price ?

That’s a bit cold and heartless don’t you think ?

Sure you make it effective next year but the people will still be recovering until maybe 2022.

TLDR: Your timing is just bad
