- When in the history of WoW has the “main story” not been gated? It’s always “gated” behind new raid tiers, new dungeons, new events. It’s a JOURNEY. You want the end of the expac story to be completed at a pace determined by you? How does that make any sense?
- Agreed, this is bad.
- Kind of the same complaint as #2 but yeah.
- Agreed, no reason for us not to be able to use flight whistle
- like what?
For the life of me I haven’t a clue why this is so flagged. It’s spot on and accurate.
Fanboys, people who think flagging is a dislike button, etc.
OP is completely correct. The expansion sounded really cool and it plummeted like a stone once everything was revealed to be more of the same crap.
I’d rather have BFA than this. this current team needs to go it’s clear that they don’t understand what an MMORPG is supposed to be. This isn’t Diablo it doesn’t need boring treadmills.
I agree.
I stopped playing SL 2 weeks ago, and have moved to older content until I decide what I’m going to do in the longer term.
I might re-visit the Elder Scrolls universe, or maybe even FFXIV. Or, just tap into my Steam collection of ARPGs.
My money, my time. Kudos OP for doing what is best for you.
I would rather stick my leg in a wood chipper than grind out 20 million anima. Yet alone do it on 16 characters. Like are you serious right now?
I’ve been umming and ahhing about renewing. I think im gonna take a break. Ive found myself really struggling to log in. I mean, right now, i could go do my storyline quest for rank 18. Ive still got my lfr runs, and ive still got my torghast to do for the week. This is like the main progression dump for the week. But i just cant click the wow icon on my desktop.
Ive always felt i had my most fun coming late to the expansion somewhere around the x.2 patches. Im almost certain i’ll feel the exact same and no doubt return once x.1.5 is in full swing. But i dont think we’ll see much more than a few lore bumps, a raid, class tuning and some bits and bobs for 9.1. Maybe the maw will get another phase, and hopefully torghast will see some experimental features added. But genuinely, none of this is particularly exciting. It just fixes the issues of 9.0.2.
The complete lack of developer communication bodes ill as well. Perhaps they’re saving things for blizzcon, but again, that just means we’re dragging this patch out, (with no real news about potential changes), until then. And with the patch likely coming until a month after, realistically then, committing to 9.1 feels like im committing to three months (one for the interim pre blizzcon, 1 for the ptr, and 1 to actually play it and see if i like it).
And honestly, 45 bucks feels a bit much to a game im struggling to enjoy right now and i dont really expect many changes from this early into the expansion.
So most likely scenario is 9.2 announcement before i check back in. Then i can mill about playing catch up for a month or two, see all the covenant campaigns, play through the lore dump, perhaps even have the actual power to run through legion mythics for the mogs. Maybe even see a fleshed out maw/torghast… Just in time for 9.3 to start its hype train
Why be mad at the game when i know in about 6-7 months it’ll have a tonne of stuff i can just enjoy at my own pace (instead of being mildly irritated by these weekly bursts of content followed by a lot of nothing).
In the interim, ive held off on cyberpunk and baldurs gate. Ive also got a lot of catching up in eso and destiny 2. Finally, if i really want to burn a sub fee, im definitely keen to revisit final fantasy again, so its not like im starved for alternatives.
yep when you peel the onion you realize how little there is to do except put in meaningless slow grinds.
The only way to even remotely gear up in a logical fashion is pvp.
Here’s the kicker, I dont like pvp, because its beyond imbalanced.
The expansion is sloppy i think we can all agree.
The zones, and new mob models and some of the armor pieces are gorgeous, I give credit where it’s due.
But the balancing is way off.
the class balances
PVP balance
Covenant balance
Even raid tuning was off and they had to hot fix
torghast class imbalances (ever wonder why paladins are having a blast in torghast and majority of your rogues/mages are struggling?)
I don’t mind paying for quality
However as I state.
Price becomes an issue in the absence of value.
Also ALT friendly? it’s not even offspec friendly.
Because in the past, you head on fire players eat the entire release in a couple of weeks then come here screaming there’s not enough content. It’s literally your fault.
FF 14 has a amazing story… better than wow… I unsubbed for a lot of reasons… Main one no pvp dedicated stat and the fact that blizz wont listen or reply to its people… So i feel better now that I have finally come out of the hole that is blizz and hopefully a few games look promising. Till then i can always smuggle drugs in GTA5 lol
if content can be eaten up that fast then there wasnt enough to begin with.
So literally what WoW is
Blizzard only listens to players they deem worthy. At least that’s what I heard with their other exclusive forum. All of us here are just peasants not worth a glance.
Welcome to mmorpgs.
I think this is the consideration point that a lot of people are dragging their heels on right now. For me, my renew date is the beginning of next week. But, I’m not really thinking about WoW so much as what I am going to play next, which tells me all I need to about that decision.
Elder Scrolls lore is extremely expansive. I don’t know what you’re on about.
Just about every ff14 player lol.
The nicest thing about Shadowlands, is that I get my renown quests done, a few anima quests and log out. I don’t feel like I have to be on 24/7 to keep up with story, rep or anything else because it doesn’t matter.
Oooh, i should add to a random “i quit” thread that no one from blizz will ever read. Some constructive feedback:
Things i enjoy:
- youre taking risks this expansion. And you’re sticking to them. I appreciate that. You need the data once and for all on who this game is supposed to target if it wants to stabilise its sub base (and perhaps then grow from it). You need to know if raid or die works once and for all. You’ve tried a few times before and pulled back. So i’d like to see you commit to it so we can definitively say ‘who’ this game is designed for. Stay the course!
- I mentioned this in another thread. I love the return of pvp as a legit gearing system. Its been genuinely great fun pvping again and having an actual power progression reason to do so.
- I love the covenants themselves. Each are completely unique. I love they have their own feel, look and storyline.
- When you see the raw power and pace of the catch up system, its genuinely remarkable. You havent been given enough credit on this in forums. I can, if i want right now, spend the next 6 levels sitting in bgs on my ww monk (who will obviously switch to mw for bgs). At level 60 she will have a tonne of honor. I can then burn through a few callings/dungeons/torghast/bgs for renown catchup (plus intro weekly quests) get her to rank 5, do the pvp upgrade and immediately kit her out in 184 gear. Then shes in an amazing place to burn through renown catchup to hit high level covenant gear within the week. I mean, thats startling. We arent even in the ‘catch up gear shower phase’. This is the system at the start.
- Speaking of. I love the upgrade system. I love that any non LFG player can reasonably expect to be in around 200ilvl gear before 9.1 drops. That makes a huge difference in world questing and torghast climbing. It even makes a difference in the maw where you might hit perdition hold and think ‘i can take these guys!’ Its just excellent. (edit1: to those people who say ‘why do you need decent gear for world questing?’ this is why! It opens doors in the SOLO game you’d never imagine you need to open because you’ve already got this gear from the content you do!)
- Torghast: I love the idea. I love the potential and possibilities throughout the expansion as a source of genuine experimentation. Please, go wild! If it breaks the game, it breaks the (edit2: very narrow and self contained) game! Have fun with it. Its one of the best new features you’ve added for solo players. Go nuts with it!
- Flying in 9.1. Tied to renown. Im sure you have another annoyance up your sleeve once 9.1 drops, but i love that you’re not messing about until a year into the expansion to give people flying (once they complete another massive rep grind). Im sure it’ll be locked down for any new ‘suddenly discovered’ islands in 9.2/3. But im hopeful you’ve finally seen sense on not gating returning players behind a massive rep grind wall as their ‘welcome back to azeroth!’.
Hmmm… i did imply criticism (constructive)… But i dont wanna. I want to go out happy. You can read my extremely long and very critical posts in my ‘activity list’ if you like. Right now, i’d rather say what i like about the shadowlands changes.
Still subbed and not regretting it.
Me neither. I think they must have played through the main storyline and ‘beat the game’ or something. Thats not how you play eso, my friend! The game is VAST. And all of it is relevant.
