Not really. If something was reported as spam and it clearly wasn’t or reported for language and no bad language was used then the intent is very clear.
If a player falsely reports another player, they should face the same penalties as which the reported player would have accrued.
this is not a unpopular opinion.
a unpopular opinion would be : " BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN THEMMMMMM. public execution via guillotine in stormwind trade district "
no bad language was used then the intent is very clear
What is vulgar to someone might not be vulgar to someone else.
Without a published “disapproved words” list, the report remains entirely subjective.
reporting people for spam gets it out of your chat screen, so it doesn’t have to be legitimate.

Which there should be. Like George Carlin’s “Seven Words You Can Never Say on Television”.
Which there should be.
Blizzard already said they don’t want to publish a list because then it makes it too easy to circumvent.
If you’re reporting someone for spam, when they’re clearly not spamming
Oh, I love this game!
OK, many other players don’t believe these guild ad whispers to be “spam”, even though it’s a clear duplicate message being sent to multiple people, like spam mail.
If you’re reporting someone for vulgar language, when they’re not using vulgar language
“Baddie”, “get gud”, “cry more”, etc., are all things that shouldn’t be said. Though, they can be reported for harassment, as well.
If you’re reporting someone for cheating, when they’re not cheating
AFKing in a BG is cheating.
But, OFC, Blizz is the ultimate arbitor in what gets a slap on a wrist and what doesn’t.
“Baddie”, “get gud”, “cry more”, etc., are all things that shouldn’t be said. Though, they can be reported for harassment, as well.
That might be hyperbolic. In my eyes, vulgar language is using racial slurs, or calling people ah*s or using the “F” word copiously. “Baddie” “get gud” “cry more” isn’t vulgar language, it’s just harassment.
AFKing in a BG is cheating.
I’m fairly sure cheating is when a player gains an unfair advantage. Such as, someone getting to the top of the Alliance base in Warsong Gulch. Another instance would be, the cheats they would use to fly in the dungeons or DHs circumnavigating certain battleground maps that no other class could.
Afking in a bg is just laziness, and should be reported. If I see Johnny Bilbo in the starting cave for the first 5 minutes, then yes. I always try give people the benefit of the doubt and let them have a min. just in case they’re using the restroom or something. I won’t report anybody for defending a base either.
“Baddie” “get gud” “cry more” isn’t vulgar language, it’s just harassment.
Just telling someone to “git gud” is not harassment. Harassment is repeated. If you can just use ignore, unless the person makes another toon to keep spam whispering you, harassment isn’t taking place.

It’s gameplay sabotage. It’s not cheating.

Not sure why someone can’t just type “Get better”. “Git gud” is just a douchier way saying that, but it’s not vulgar. You can indeed use the ignore feature, instead of jamming your finger on the mouse clicking “report”. (Just saying you as an example). If they’re whispering you “Baddie, get gud” and then followed by a “cry more”, it is harassment because they’re targeting you specifically. Again, you can ignore, but if they continue to switch toons and do the same thing, then report.

I concur with this. It’s either that or just wanting to try to get honor while watching the latest episode of the L Word.
My personal opinion is when in doubt report it and let Blizzard sort it out.
watching the latest episode of the L Word.
That ended in 2009?
Afk people should absolutely be reported, what people don’t seen to be realizing is that the afk debuff asking you to go hit something before you get booted gets skipped if enough people report you
Not sure why someone can’t just type “Get better”. “Git gud”
6 letters vs 9 letters.
Are we Puritans now ? Jack Thompson, is that you ?
No seriously, guys, stop being so fragile.

No, just whispering you “Baddie, get gud. Cry more” isn’t harassment.
Harassment is repeated.
but if they continue to switch toons
Then it becomes harassment.

Even Blizzard employees don’t realise it because the blue post about AV AFK bans said you got the debuff and could hit something.
Dunno about classic but this expansion had a loud mouth in battle for gilneas bragging about how he couldn’t be kicked for afk because trash team and he got booted after everyone reported him lol. The boot happened before the debuff could kick him
Regarding av though i feel like those who got banned were actually afk
Regarding av though i feel like those who got banned were actually afk
That’s why a lot of the bans were overturned.
Maybe Blizzard shouldn’t stuff level 61 DKs with level capped players. Being dead all the time is not afking, even though you’re standing still at the GY.
How does someone end an av with 0 damage though? Going to a tower you can hit guards, there are wolves and rams all over the place who are level 61
61-70 brackets was definitely not the greatest idea though

Because I haven’t hit a non-player mob in ages in AV.
People fighting NPCs are seen as AFK in AV in Retail.
Idk i heard the people who were mostly banned had 0 damage on the scoreboard and npc damage counts for it maybe those were the not overtuned ones or something
When you’re insta stunned and one shot by level 70s, unsurprising.
BG brackets don’t make sense. Level cap should be its own bracket.
The bans were over turned so obviously Blizzard noticed that just going by board damage is idiotic.
