Looks like a race that will make a great stuffed decoration for my collection of desert beasts. Better get out there and start hunting. Cranks up guns
Oh look. Itâs the guy that goes to both vulpera and sethrak discussion forums to make quips about making pelts of said races.
I dont see the Sethrak as a tribal species. Nor do I see the Zandalari, blood elves, or Nightborne. Heck, Pandaren are more tribal than the Sethrak.
And no, the Sethrak have not been purely horde content, just mostly horde content. Alliance deal with them in our war campaign in Vuldun.
Legion was all about questing via class halls. We were representing our class halls and in stormheim we were also there representing our factions.
In BFA we see the Sanlayn content on alliance and Sethrak on horde. We see Sanlayn join the horde on Alliance. There Sethrak are pretty much nuetral and allies to the Voldunei. Which are theorized ti be horde leaning and labeled as such ingame.
They can always switch sides tho through ingame lore like blood elves going horde. Sethrak could very well be horde. But considering that in the Zandalari recruitment quest they dont mention the Sethrak as allies even though Sethraliss comes to see talanji be crowned. We also dont have buff shrines for Sethraliss (but we dont have them for like Gral or Torcolli either).
Heâs just a boring human, ignore him.
Yeah, buts it filler content and should stop being treated as the holy Grail of alliance/sethrak interactions because itâs just a copy and pasted quest from horde side with vorrik instead of his supporter.
The horde has some on alliance side too that make no since and end abruptly, they are just there to get you to want to play the other side.
Itâs best to dismiss both of these quests as non Canon as they donât make sense with the timeframe of alliance and horde interactions on said zones by the time the Invaders get there.
I donât think of the Sethrak as being a tribal people because of the little bits we see of a big underground city in the Sethrak dungeon in the background.
I do think that the tents we see are very well made art-wise. To me they look very distinctive and also make me think that theyâre built that way to react to desert winds, though I havenât seen an ingame source to back that up.
Iâd love to see more examples of their craftsmanship.
Since so many of their fabrics seem to be colored on the red-scale, like burgundy and that huge red carpet going into their main temple, I wonder if its a matter of red dyes being more common in the desert, or if theyâre more rare and extravagant. That would make the color of the carpet matter more.
I wouldnt say that the war campaign is non cannon. Its one of the focal points in BFAâs story. The player character being a part of the war campaign may be non canonical, as it would be the credit of the factions themselves, but it is still a thing that is an has happened.
Oh lets not forget pandas, gilblins, ankoan and tauren. Any race that makes a good fur coat, any race that helps the horde, any race that is better off as fish sandwhiches, you better bet Iâll be there. Cranks up guns
I didnât say the war campaign is non canon, I just donât think those two quests are. They make no sense for either faction and donât line up with the time frame. They are copy pasted from the opposite faction, its silly to take them seriously with how they start and how they end.
And even sillier to lavish it with such significance as alliance players tend to do as enforcement to their claims
That is because it is currently the only real interaction that alliance have with the sethrak so far. And I think I see what you are talking about with the time frames. And if I do, Iâd have to disagree with you.
There is a âproperâ order to quest through Zandalar and KulâTiras from a story perspective. For the alliance, the order is Tiragard Sound, Drustvar, and then Stormsong Valley. For the horde, that order is Nazmir, Zuldazar, and then Voldun. So, assuming that this order in itself is the canon of the stories overall progression, the horde do not really make any progress in Voldun until after the whole Nazmir storyline with Talanji plays out, as well as the prophets betrayal in Zuldazar.
However, there doesnât really appear to be a technical order for doing things on the island of the opposite faction. The likely order though, for the horde would have to be Stormsong Valley, Tiragard Sound, and then Drustvar. While for the alliance, the order is likely Voldun, Nazmir, then Zuldazar.
This being said, it actually would make sense time wise for the Alliance to interact with the sethrak and save Vorrik before the horde arrives to finish the job.
I donât think that right now the sethrak will be an allied race. They still are missing a lot of different functionalities of a playable race despite using a working rig. But, I just hope that those missing things are still in development, as well as the story behind and in front of them. It would really suck for this amazing race that has garnered the most attention this last year and some to be pushed aside after a handful of quests from both factions. The playerbase loves sethrak, even the boring people who play nothing but humans. And blizzard would miss a huge business opportunity by locking this race up in a vault after giving us a false key to open it.
Humans have got to be the most boring race to play and kill⌠so bland. I feel bad for horde pvpers that run into our heavily populated bland race all the time.
Lets be real
Nothing that has happened so far matters.
At any moment the Vulpera could join the Alliance, and the gorillas join the horde
Blizz donât care
I thought the Horde questing Order was more unique in that it was actually Volâdun, first half of Zuldazar (before the betrayal happens) since it takes time to muster troops and most likely conscripts from the now dead generals forces then they march into Nazmir to try and find Mythrax who has now set off a chain of events seen in Nazmir then after that we return back to Zuldazar to see Zul betray everyone to the pseudo old god Gâhuun, from the story perspective this seems the most occurate.
Alliance is more simple being Tirigarde, Drustâvar and Stormsong although it is possible Drustâvar and Stormsong happened at the same time with different people sent there (players, credit stealing NPCs etc) as this makes sense since two violent powers at the same time wouldnât be able to overshadow another area as much if only one showed up at a time.
Gotta remember our content for Alliance is worked on Third behind Horde then Neutral contents, weâd be lucky to even get a secondary thought over Neutral.
Enough with this horde bias nonsense.
Itâs hard to ignore something so obvious when itâs not in your favor.
I just assumed the order started with Nazmir because of the level of urgency that Talanji uses when talking about the problem there. But aside from the general Zakâwhatsit, there really isnât a reason that the horde should focus their efforts in the desert if Voldun. Youâve got to gain the trust of the peoples while aiding with the immediate threats. This applies to both islands.
On KulâTiras, itâs obvious that for both of these reasons, the player should start with Tiragard Sound. While for the horde, because of Talanji, the horde already have some level of trust among the common folk. So the clear choice would be dealing with the blood trolls, the obvious threat. Rather than diplomatic drama of Voldun or conspiracies in ZulâDazar.
that has to be the case, because by the time the horde show up, the sethrak already have the first stone, the one that the alliance gave them
I wouldnât say âgaveâ. As Vorrik hid the stone with a human prisoner. We did help him return the stone to the temple, but he never did truly lose the stone for us to go and fetch it.
I appreciate this rundown for when I start my hordie through the quests, thanks ^.^
I didnât know I wanted Gorilla Men until nowâŚ
Lore debate aside, I really want Sethrak for Alliance for one selfish reason and one alone. We are in desperate need of another interesting non-human looking race.
