Unofficial Sethrak Discussion Thread šŸ

Agreed. I couldnā€™t guess what faction they would be intended on going. A lot of Horde seem to think they would get them by default but I donā€™t think it is nearly as clearcut. I mean donā€™t forget the Nightborne were saved from literal extinction by Night Elves only to sign up for complete genocidal war against the entire Alliance after three lines of dialog from High Priestess Evermoody. I am sure Blizzard could handwave the Sethrak joining the Alliance just as flippantly with Lorā€™themar dropping Vorrikā€™s favourite teacup.

Actually, letā€™s not give them any ideas.

But yeah, there is far too much work done on their models to be just one-note NPCs to be dumped by the wayside. They even have the very suspicious Heart of Azeroth animation. The whole thing seems suspiciously like a time-honoured case of ā€œWork was hard so we just stopped doing itā€ that has marred several expansions in a row now.

This is completely acceptable. While the OP of this thread supported them on the Alliance, most of us active members just want them playable. So bring them onto the Horde if thatā€™s the only way Blizzard wishes to implement them! We might have our preferences but by all means Sethrak for the Horde!

Exactly. Iā€™m about in the same boat. And if itā€™s for playable Sethrak Iā€™ll do the rep grind.

8.3.5 was scrapped. And if you looked at the PTR when 8.3 was there, there were some Sethrak files datamined. They were called ā€œSethrak Combatantā€. I recently looked to see if the files are still there with the current PTR and Beta and theyā€™re gone. BUT. There ARE Sethrak files for 9.0! Different ones too.

8.3.5 was scrapped and there are spots open in the embassies for one more race.

Not only that it would have filled a Forsaken and worgen AR spot if theyā€™d added two more. Sethrak sharing the Worgen skelly.

Added files the work they did on Sethrak, and how things went. It just makes sense.

If youā€™re looking for something more concrete, blizz hasnā€™t commented so I just donā€™t have it. Consider it what it is, an opinion.

Still I have faith they will add the Sethrak in the future.

Sethrak for the Alliance! (but playable is fine blizz seriously please) :snake:

Iā€™d love it if sethrak had two active racial skills like goblins doā€“but maybe they share a cooldown? Electrified scales and poison spit are both almost ubiquitous among sethrak mobs in-game, so itā€™d be great if playable sethrak had access to those skills too!

I mean, coming from Warhammer and seeing how Games Workshop treats various ā€˜secretsā€™ and how they often say ā€˜no commentā€™ on stuff that they may or may not be working on, I can certainly understand how Blizzard not commenting on Sethrak could be taken as some sort of tease, but then, have they commented on other races definitely not being playable, that people have wanted? I dunno. Itā€™s tenuous, but Iā€™ll keep the faith.

And itā€™d be neat for Sethrak to have multiple active racial skills, but Iā€™d prefer more utility than damage or resistance. Things that can get me to where I want to go faster.

Technically the only race Iā€™ve seen them say no to in any capacity was High Elves. Whichā€¦ weā€™re now half getting.

Blizzard errs on the side of ā€œweā€™ll think about itā€ with races most of the time. They do hear us and take our thoughts into account. As such its important to support the races and such that you want to see in game.

That could work. Putting them on the same CD would make it more fair.

I do hope they have Poison spit and Lightning Scales though.

I imagine Sethrak will still have a resistance of some typeā€¦ maybeā€¦ to lightning? lol

I think lightning falls under Nature damage? Thatā€™d do just fine to me!

Another option would be the ability to summon some sort of Whirlwind for a temporary speed boost, like the Worgen get?

Nice to see some new faces and I thank you wholeheartedly for your support of playable Sethrak!

Or perhaps to fire? Though donā€™t the Vulpera have something like that?

I do agree on venom spit. That should be a given.

There could be a sort of intimidate racial as well. Thatā€™s what the hood and rattle functions are for in real life snakes. And Sethrak have both.

And a play dead one would be entertaining. A lot of snakes play dead. Some are really known for it. Could see it being an issue though if Hunter is a class for them. Not sure why someone would need two play dead skills.

I thought about that too, but since the Vulpera have that from the same reason, and because the Sethrak have the lightning scale thing I thought lightning(nature) would fit better.

Either one is fine by me though.

Hmmā€¦ Could be a first attack damage reduction?

Very short fear effect? Terror?

This one if its not just a hunters feign death I could definetly see as a first hit damage reductor.

Any of that could work. Or maybe a stun/rooting effect. First thing I did when I unintentionally encountered a young Timber Rattlesnake was root my little self to the spot. I was maybe 8. I just froze. Then it went on itā€™s way. Never bothered me.

Yeah a damage reduction here would work. And stun could too I supposeā€¦

A bite attack could be nifty, that deals nature damage. What do you all think?

The sethrak already do have a ā€˜biteā€™ animation. Could be related to that? Maybe a venom-bite racial ability? I think thatā€™d be fantastic!

Many sethrak mobs are capable of spitting venom, which is where that animation tends to get used. Others, in addition to spitting venom, can electrify their scales. Scout Skrasniss is a rare found in northeastern Nazmir that does both!

Oh good point! Man theyā€™re just so freakinā€™ cool.

Donā€™t some Sethrak mobs also coat their claws or weapons in venom? That could be a nifty racial too. Very rogue-like.

Iā€™ll also have to take a look at the animations they have again to see if thereā€™s anything we could derive from there as far as racial discussion.

On a different note everyone has seen their sleep emote right? Itā€™s so bloody cute!

Yes they do! They also spit out poison so I could see it as a very fun racial! Their totems could be the Spires as well

(Mentioned before.)

There were some very cool Shaman totem designs on google, where it was like those spires but a spiritual snake was coiled around them representing the element of the totem, so a fiery snake, water snake, wind snake, etc. Iā€™d LOVE to see this come to fruition!

That sounds amazing.

I managed to take a look at the animations on WoWhead. Their unarmed attack is a claw swipe. While spit venom seems more iconic for them, a venomous claw attack is definitely also possible.

Then if for some reason the electrified scales is not a route taken, I could seem Sethrak getting a sort of an ā€œarmor buffā€ for having a scaly hide. Could be damage reduction or a 1st attack does no damage sort of thing. Or even a very small reduction to physical damage/attacks over all.
