Unofficial Sethrak Discussion Thread šŸ

I think it may have just been the specific Saurok npc I looked at. (Or I somehow missed that, that happens sometimes. xD) But I took a look at a different one on the PTR and yes it has the dressing room animation as well.

When it all goes live I think Iā€™ll be looking at ideas for my Sethrak hunter (my dear Hershey) and Shaman. I want to look at Druid and Paladin ideas but I donā€™t wanna get my hopes up THAT high. Though I still might do it anyway. >.>

Never say never. The Horde or the Alliance may eventually get playable Sethrak, yet!

Vulperas became a race of the horde and encouraged me to play in the horde.

Unfortunately, nothing in the BfA alliance had that effect on the horde.

Just missed saying itā€¦

So. When I was looking at those NPCs someone mentioned earlier, the ones that are tied to Emeni, there is some interesting flavor/description text for one of them. Iā€™ll see if you guys notice what I did. It could mean absolutely nothing but I find it interesting and gives me more hope. Also, what heā€™s wearing is the perfect hybrid of the Sethrak npc outfits for a heritage armor set. I love the waist wrap/cincher/corset thingy.

The only unusual thing I noticed about him is that his name indicates a family line.

Me too.

There is that. But there is also implication that he may be encountered alive, as in he is alive to whatever present day we will find ourselves in. (No idea the timeline between end of BfA and Shadowlands.) As it says he is a descendant.

That is until we help Emeni murder him for whatever reason, lmao. As I can only guess murder will be involved given her title. :joy:

As usual. Playable Sethrak please!

Yeah, this occurred to me too. Maybe we help her get ā€œrevengeā€ at some point? That could offer some insight on whatā€™s happening with the sethrak now that Korthek is dead and their goddess has returned.

None of this really hints at sethrak becoming playable, but it does remind me of the way worgen showed up in Wrath with a small storyline. Itā€™s really nice that sethrak donā€™t seem primed to just vanish the way many cool NPC races have in the past.

No it doesnā€™t, thatā€™s correct. But it does keep them relevant. And that gives me hope. And well I do wanna know more on the Sethrak story either way!

This also indicates that Srillik comes from a family with noble ancestry or at least considerable importance and position in the Sethrak society.
And there must be one among many. There must be something like sethraks titles of nobility.
Certainly there should be more sethraks with prominent positions, as much as it is in the horde or ally.

One thing that came to my mind now is what day-to-day sethraks should be like.
How do they trade? Do they have any form of agriculture?
We see that they have a refined form of handicraft with glass.
Do they go fishing? I know that some types of snakes eat fish.

They also rear snakes and krolusk. We see them with plant based foods too so they must have agriculture someplace.

Very good questions.

The question Iā€™d most like answered is how their lifespans work. The whole ā€œour leaders have been alive since the Aqir warsā€ thing implies that theyā€™re more or less immortal, but then again the flavor text for the new character says she was one of hundreds of siblings? When it comes to immortal or near-immortal beings in fantasy, itā€™s a pretty hardline rule that they have to have pretty limited reproduction or their population would spiral out of control pretty quickly.

That to me suggests that Vorrik, Korthek and Sulthis were immortal due to their connection to Sethraliss.

Perhaps other Sethrak live (I imagine) a long time but not so long as to be ridiculous.

Yeah, that would probably make the most sense.

The issue I see is they are like an iceberg right now, with so so much of their civilization underground we only see the top of their society.

Who knows, maybe they raise fungus or underground animals too. So much has to be speculated until we can see.

Hopefully they donā€™t end up like the Nerubians where we only get little tiny hints (a dungeon + part of a raid) that shows us their deeper underground network, It always bothered me back then that we didnā€™t get to see/explore more.

I would like this answered as well. There is another NPC tied to Emeni that could imply that theyā€™re all very long lived. Itā€™s her (unknowing) childhood nemesis. But the Sethrak in question is obviously an adult. If she had a bone to pick with her when they were kids and sheā€™s an adult now, she would also have to be very old. Maybe not Vorrik and the Keepers old but still old. Then again we know so little at the moment.

Maybe a long lifespan is countered by daily hardships and a warlike lifestyle. Maybe itā€™s completely normal for Sethrak to participate in gladiatorial combat for ranks and rights, etc. (Maybe they are loosely similar to how the Charr are culturally in GW2.)

I noticed even Sethraliss told Vorrik to take a chill pill over the Zandalari orphan for Childrenā€™s Week, implying their race has a natural temper to resort to violence.

Blizzard please! We still want the Sethrak!

Make an in game suggestion, please! Itā€™s under the Help tab. And thanks for the continued support!

Itā€™s cliche, but after a ā€œGreat Seasā€ expansion, Iā€™ve always wanted to see Warcraftā€™s own take on a sort of ā€œUnderdarkā€ setting. Thereā€™s a lot of places underground weā€™ve yet to really see or get to explore, like Azjol-Nerub.

Korthek kind of implies this too. Before he dies, he tells Vorrik that he never forced anybody to join him, and insisted that the sethrak are conquerors. Given that the Devoted seem to have been pushed to the fringe of Volā€™dun, I reckon that a good portion of sethrak agreed with the late emperor.

I do recall this. I do think Korthek went about it the wrong way though. He is very similar to Garrosh in this manner. But having a natural inclination for war, etc isnā€™t necessarily an evil thing. We see it in Orcs and Humans. And other races. If the remaining Faithless Sethrak do not rejoin The Devoted they need a leader that can find a sort of middle ground. Perhaps find allies to expand their own territory, adapt and preserve their own existence and way or life.

By the way I totally meant Garrosh. My phone autocorrected it to Gators. :joy: Korthek = Garrosh. Not an Alligator. Alligators are actually pretty peaceful creatures.
