Unofficial Sethrak Discussion Thread šŸ

I donā€™t think itā€™s too much to ask for a good reptilian race to be added to WoW. A lot of RPGs do and WoW has avoided it for years.

There are 2 very viable options with Sethrak and Sauroks.
Sethraks are my favorites.

Yes! And the community showed a lot of interest in sethraks as a possible new reptilian race.

I think I would go with black if that was an option. At least for the toon for Hershey. He had a black tongue. Otherwise the dark blue would be my choice for another Sethrak! But pink is fine if itā€™s the only option.

Tongue color would definitely be an interesting customization option. Not a lot of animals have such a wide color variant of just their tongue as snakes do. Itā€™s quite impressive. Thereā€™s some with purple (lilac) or lilac and black tongues. I just couldnā€™t find any good photos of a close up for those colorsā€¦

While I hope we get snake people Iā€™m also hoping for undead allied race.

Also, here is my snake of the day!

Yellowtail Cribo. An impressive, South American species! As formidable as they look, theyā€™re completely harmless.

A gradual color change like this could be an interesting skin option for Sethrak.

WoW is very much lacking in the playable reptile race, and both Sethrak (Alliance or Horde) and Saurok (Horde) would make great additions. :snake: :crocodile:

So as of late, I havenā€™t been able to be active on the forums much because I am trying to focus on getting a lot of college work done. In relation to snakes, I have been dabbling some casually in WoW Classic as a Horde Hunter and was thinking about taming this little guy as one of his pets:

So why am I mentioning it here, aside from it being a snake? Well, Classic has reminded me that Wind Serpents actually shoot lightning as a pet skill and Sethrak use lightning magic. Iā€™m not saying there is a connection between the two, but I thought it was interesting that there were at least two lightning-snake related creatures in the game. Just a fun observation. :snake: :cloud_with_lightning:

Wind serpents would make a great Sethrak Druid form.

wasnā€™t it basically a wind serpent in that one Druid forms rendition someone did awhile back?

what faction would they be on?

I personally would want them on the Alliance, but theyā€™re currently well setup for Horde.

Most of us just want them playable and would take either.

The scenario where the playable Sethrak are from a group that left the Faithless but doesnā€™t feel right returning to the Devoted Iā€™d imagine would go Alliance, but could easily go Horde.

Pick your poison.

It may have been. But it also looks like it might be closer to the siren model. I think they technically have different models. If they are different, I would definitely say the siren model is a modified wind serpent model.

It could work as their flight form, in my opinion.

Perfect for them tbh, even when envisioned in other media shapeshifting it fits even further, like imagine lycanthropey style it still fits them.

Another friendly snek

Iā€™m with Fezzy on this one. My preference is Alliance. It would work better for my friends and fiance who play who also prefer Alliance. But I am well aware they are better set up for Horde.

But really, I just want the Sethrak playable! And the group I play with all agree they would go whatever faction Sethrak were added to.

We do have a handful of ideas to make them work for Alliance, but it would require some more story related to the Sethrak to be added. Which I would love either way. Iā€™m really keen to see their lore and involvement in the game continued regardless of who gets them or what not. :snake:

And now for my snake of the day:
The Stiletto Snake! Or Burrowing Asp. This is an African species.
This snake is freaky and I hope Sethrak would never have fangs like them. They can, and will literally stab you with their fangs with their mouth closed or use them a bit like a switchblade, and the venom is highly necrotic! Would make the ultimate rogue though.

I just realised something. Wind Serpents had their models updated. Guess what expansion they got their models updated in?

And look what was added to their models that we see on our Sethrak.
Itā€™s the rattle and more viperid face

Also, their chests are much more humanoid looking now than the old models.

I personally donā€™t really approve tying Sethraliss and the sethrak to the wind serpents, as wind serpents are their own animals and we have 2 wind serpent loaā€™s already.
It just really feels off to me, like bunching the raptors and devilsaurs together or something.

I suppose it could work for sethrak druids if they started worshipping one of the wind serpent loaā€™s though.

Fair enough, but we also have more than one snake loa. Sethraliss is not alone as Sseratuss exists, worshiped by Zandalari and Drakkari.

The Loa often have minor crossover and its not needed for a loa to have created an animal (or creature) for it to have ties to them.

Further if they did decide to use wind Serpents as the flight form it could just be because Sethrak would just shift into something similar to their own bodies that had wings.

There is no wild god made of bones and seaweed for the Kulā€™tiran druids for instance.

My thinking on it is similar to Fezzyā€™s. A wind serpent flight druid form would just be easier and itā€™s snakelike, like themselves and their loa. The Zandalari Trolls all have dino forms for their druid forms, which is similar to some of their loas. So I was just going along that line of thinking is all. :woman_shrugging:

Would you have an alternative idea for their flight form? Or any other forms, really.

And since weā€™re talking about flying.

Hereā€™s my snake of the day!
The Flying Snake! I actually had one of these as a pet once. He was a really neat animal. Super inquisitive, and it was fascinating to watch him hunt the lizards I fed him.

And a video of why theyā€™re called Flying Snakes

Maybe they could derive a druid flying form from these guys.

I cannot think of how they would but I would absolutely love to be a flying snake in flight form!
