I was in Bagzakās Saurok discussion thread and saw him mention thermal vision and thought that would be an excellent racial for Sethrak with great potential. Iām thinking sort of like the DH vision ability letting you see through walls and find stealthed enemies.
If they also got the poison spit and it did have a short stun plus having electrified scales this would make them impressive for pvp. Something that could further get more folk to want them.
Been working more on the Horde Volādun storyline and I can completely see, without a doubt why Sethrak should/could go Horde.
I am totally fine with that. Give Horde the Sethrak if it means making them playable. For Hershey!
And I finally noticed the āFaithlessā banner is in the temple at Terrace of the Devoted, which leads me to believe it isnāt specifically the banner of the Faithless, but the Sethrak in general. I need to stop being selectively observant.
I did some research and it does seem that most snakes do have some form of infravision. An example of this being shown is in this video:
Now, snakes do need to use their lounges to seek out prey and check out the surrounding area, so another idea is utilizing the Sethrakās tongue to be able to sense stealthed enemies in PvP situations within a certain yard. It could even be a passive racial to work in addition to an infravision skill.
Reptile races in general have a lot of great and unique ideas for racial potential.
Weāve had no particular word that Iāve heard. You should not lose hope. There are a fair number of folk who want them and while I suspect we wonāt see another allied race until after SLs the devs did not close the door on them. Itās still an easy way to introduce new races.
Also who knows theres still a chance theyāll give us sethrak during prepatch.
Sethrak for the Alliance! (but playable is fine blizzard seriously.)
Neither. They havenāt confirmed they would be an allied race, or that theyāre going to fill those last two slots are the character select screen at all, but they also havenāt shot down the idea and told us no either.
And if they didnāt want it to be too similar to the DH ability, they could give Sethrak a tremorsense of sorts that allows them to determine where stealthed enemies are, etc. Snakes hear through vibration. Itās actually really interesting. Their hearing is probably not all much worse than a humanās, its just the method in how they hear. Itās cool.
Snakes do not have an outer ear but do have an inner ear and the vibrations of sound be it speech, walking, etc travels up their bones, along their jaw to strike their inner ear so then the brain can perceive the noise.
My sub ends at the end of the month. Ill most likely only come back if they make the sethrak playable. I play a lot a fantasy and sci-fi games and imo the sethrak are coolest alien race Iāve ever come across by far. So many games and movies get snakes and reptiles races wrong when trying to make them playable or a alien species but the sethrak look amazing. If they never become playable it would be the biggest waste of a cool alien design in history.
I agree. Sethrak are THE best reptilian/snake race I have seen in any mmo. Blizzard did a fantastic job in their design and their lore is great as well.
And Iām on that precarious fence of wanting to unsubscribe until theyāre made playable, or remaining subscribed in hopes they will be playable sometime relatively soon. I donāt want to be late to the game on prerequisites to unlock them but Iām also starting to get burnt out on current content.
They are a really well put together race and certainly the best Iāve seen for snakes.
This is one of my concerns too, but theyāll probably announce the prepatch a bit in advance, giving some time to get into the game again. A break is never a bad idea. Iāve been running off to Red Dead again myself of late. Also Age of Empires IIā¦
I think Iām gonna stick around for a while yet though, just take everything a little slower.
Sethrak for the Alliance! (but playable is fine blizzard seriously.)
Iāve been dabbling back into Guild Wars 2. Havenāt done any of the new living story. Still love that game. Itās what really got me into mmorpgs.
Sethrak question of the day:
How do you suppose Sethrak deal with cold weather? Are they endothermic or exothermic? Do they just put on parkas like Murlocs do? Or channel magic to keep themselves warm?
I would be back in GW2 but my computer has been having major issues of late with just gw2. I miss it so much.
My thought is that the lightning in their scales produces the excess energy needed to keep their cold blooded bodies moving and functioning in situations where your average snake would find problems.
Helps explain why they donāt all find a place to cuddle every night in the cold desert nights. Thoughā¦that would be super cute.
I also like to imagine that if they do use too much electricity in their scales they become lethargic and seek out heat sources to keep active.
I donāt like getting too spoiled so I wonāt be reading too much into the Alpha or signing up for the Beta but I will be keeping an eye out for Sethrak news.
I just want to say that I envy those of you who have been able to keep the discussion going. Thereās really not been much to go on, but still you march. Bless yāall! I hope Sethraliss rewards her devoted!
Even with BfA ending and there not being much in the way of any more patches before Shadowlands, I still march with the banner of my most wanted races.
As I mentioned before, I do hope the different megathreads continue to show support for the races they want playable. Itās good to keep having discussions and sharing ideas to show interest, and BfA was a goldmine in marketing research in getting ideas for future playable races. I also believe that the character creation screen for core and allied races can always be expanded for more slots, and the embassy be reorganized to get more banners for future allied races. With more expansions in the future, it still gives me hope to see some of my most wanted playable races to become playable in some fashion.
Iāll continue to march for my most wanted races, and I hope others will continue for theirs too.
It definitely can be rough some days but my passion for snakes and the fantasy genre really helps me keep going. My dad got me into both, in fact he jokes I liked reptiles and fantasy/sci fi when I was still in the womb. So there is a lot of deep seated love in my efforts here. For WoW, for Sethrak, for snakes and for my dad.
Thatās not a bad idea actually. Be a nice way to subvert the expected fire or nature damage reduction.
There is a lot more than folk give credit to but I find an optimistic view is the best way to see things like this. Besides that sethrak are really fun to talk about and try to suss out their racials!
Sethraliss will reward our faith!
Oh no doubt. Iām sure blizzard will make use of this system again.
For Hershey!
