+1 This game needs more bears

Indeed. Also think of all the bear names ppl would use. All the future memes with themā€¦

There do seem to be similarities between the two.

I also think a more upright model or posture option would be good for them.

We already have pandaren playable, moving on.

Panderen and furbolgs is 2 different peoples, with different cultures and values. Not the same! :frowning:

Thought I would link this video going over all species of bears to inspire some Furbolg fur customization options:

I imagine a lot of customization potential for playable Furbolgs!

Pandaren are the superior bear.

Both bearsā€™d be better.

Pandaren is too drunk to care who is the superior bear. They are also too into making brew to care for nature.

Furbolgs is far superior. Also grizzly bears are stronger then pandas :stuck_out_tongue:

I know you are mostly joking but pandaren care for nature. They straight up make giant veggies.

Only the part that feeds them!

Awww, I always love when you share videos. :hugs: :hugs: :hugs:

Oh very nice! I didnā€™t realize how many bear species there were. I know about many myself but 15 is a lot more than I expected.

I would adore that blue bear coloration for my own furbolg. Itā€™d make him look a lot like my dogs actually.

Current furbolg already have white, black, grey, brown and depending on who you ask red so theres a lot of color variation already but using some of these bears to add patterning, which I would expect, would be a wonderful idea.

Both have much to offer to the world I think.

Pandaren are a wonderful addition to the game and I wish theyā€™d get more storyline, but furbolg are a whole other race with not a whole lot in common beyond seeking balance and peace.

I absolutely agree. I think many people would enjoy furbolg just as many currently enjoy the pandaren.

They do indeed. I actually do feel that Pandaren should be allowed to be druids and have their forms be based on the four August Celestials.

This however isnā€™t because of ā€œnatureā€ so much as the enchanted waters falling from the Vale of Eternal Blossoms, which is one of the several Unā€™goro like places across Azeroth where the titans tested Life on the world of Azeroth during its ordering.

Makes me wonder what fur pattern Iā€™d use for my Furbolg. I might have to play around with the character customization to have a better idea, but I currently lean towards white fur similar to polar bears. I think I like that pattern the most on Furbolg NPCā€™s.

Although, Iā€™d likely have urges to drink coca-cola while playing as him. :stuck_out_tongue:

Thatā€™s one of the things that I think was badly thought out.
Going to the afterlife only to die and meet oblivion.
I wish theyā€™d have gone with more of a cycleā€¦it fits so much better.
Ursol going on to ardenweald only to die, but instead of oblivion, it just means that instead of regenerating and returning as Ursol, he goes on to be reborn as something entirely different, likely somewhere entirely different.

For your regular soldier types spread across the shadowlands, it also makes sense, as youā€™re still losing a soldier as they are returning to the cycle to be reborn anew. Mehā€¦itā€™s pretty disappointing as it currently is.

As for the original post, I quite like the idea. I enjoyed reading it and also throw my support behind playable Furbolgs.
The mockup using the pandaren also works really well. Alternates I could see possibly working would be the Kultiran, but Iā€™d like to see Mokā€™nathal added making use of thatā€¦and maybe Vrykul too.
Another would be the edited ogre rig. The problem there though, is the lack of a female rig. They all have a nice weightyness to them. Pandaren works for me. Thereā€™s also likely a shared history somewhere.
Iā€™d seen the models of the Warcraft Reforged Furbolgs, those look pretty good too, and something about their stance is familiar tooā€¦dunno if itā€™s reminding me of the two mentioned above or what.

Furbolgs would be great =]

Iā€™m all for having the racial options being very diverse.

Eh, works for me.
Iā€™d still really like to see Night Elven Worgen and Iā€™d really like all wolf based forms for them, but I also think all of the options should be available to any druid. Perhaps Without the specific racial flair, but if they added wolf options, Iā€™d expect Gilnean worgen to have access and whoever else liked it. Iā€™m all about options for all, let people play what they want how they want.

Travel sea ā€¦could just go with a polar bear

Thatā€™d be pretty fitting. Could always do that but use a different rig so itā€™s still visually different. Something like the dire orc. You get the big hulking bear, but itā€™s not the Gronnling style. Although that is a pretty cool one.

Blizzard will announce the new expansion on April 19th!

Hopefully weā€™ll see more allied races and more customization with this new expansion! I truly hope the furbolg get to be a part of wow someday and while I wont expect them to show up next expansion I will hope for them!

Ursol guide you, Ursoc give you strength.

Thats what it actually is.

Ursoc was killed because of the drought. The Winter Queen had to cull some of the wild souls to save as many as she could with her anima stores depleting.

Normally when the anima is flowing the Wild Gods and other such nature spirits would simply rest until they gathered enough anima to regenerate then return (supposedly) to the Dream and then finally rebirth into the world.

Ursoc though didnā€™t need to be the soul that Blizzard had die. It was just meant to be jarring to us and make us feel the weight of the drought.

I hate it. I understand it but it was a terrible idea and concept in my mind.

Thank you!

Its been a long time that I was thinking about all this, and Lance has put so much work into making those models for me!

A lot of people wanted to use the worgen but honestly I think the pandaren one works best. In game furbolg even have a bit of a belly too so I think with a few model edits to the skeleton pandaren would work extremely well as the base.

There was a long time in the early days that folk thought Pandaren were evolved furbolg, but it seems thats mostly not been canonized.

They seemed fairly good for a range of classes which was part of my intent while keeping it close to something that fit.

Honestly think worgen should just get their werewolf forms updated to fit a more wolfy theme. Thats just me though.

HA!

That would be amusing.

Sure, though I think that would still cause folk to be a bit upset. So many wish the moonkin form was more like the Zandalari one nowadaysā€¦ it started a whole movement for change thereā€¦ I feel like doing that to Furbolg bear would do the same.

I may have not made that as clear as I meant.
Yes the current version is to ardenweald and then rebirth or in his case, oblivion as the wild seed was culled.
What I was saying would have been a better version was to have all that be the case, but in the case of the wild seed being culled, or anyone else dying in the shadowlands meeting oblivion, to instead have them return to the cycle. Theyā€™d just be reborn elsewhere in the cosmos.
To put it simplerā€¦
current = rebirth only for wild gods or oblivion
better = rebirth to previous life for wild gobs or rebirth for anyone upon second death somewhere else in the cosmos. More of an actual reincarnation thing. No oblivion. :stuck_out_tongue:

The whole oblivion thing sucks when you consider what an afterlife is supposed to be. It just ends up being another life that has a definite end.

Lance did a great job on them too.

Yup, I like the bulkiness of padaren version. The worgen seems a bit too lean for a bear, but I guess youā€™ve got skyrim that used the same rig for both the werewolf and bear, but yeah, a bulkier bear is better. On that one they look a little too similar.

I couldnā€™t recall if they had a common ancestor or not. Been a while since Iā€™ve perused my Chronicle book and who knows how accurate they are anymore.
Does make sense thereā€™d be a link.

More wolf-like druid forms would be great. I really feel like druid forms should be a standard addition during stuff. Treat it more like questing and tier armor. A lot more options.
Iā€™d just race change my Night elf druid into a night elven worgen druid in a heartbeat if the chance arose. Even more so with wolf based animal forms

More instances where thereā€™s far too few options. Additional forms should be a regular occurence.

Warcraft lore tends to be annoyingly inconsistent, but I believe the general rule is that Chronicle is canon until any specific parts of it get retconned, like the Spirit Healer origin for example.
