Not to say our interest in playable Sethrak is dimmer than the artist’s. But he got to work directly with Jordan Powers, one of the senior artists on World of Warcraft.
Is there any dialogue saying so they wouldn’t be stuck in such a harsh environment? because they are perfectly made for it and I never seen one of them complain.
They also don’t seem to suffer for resources and live in fancy luxury.
Not even vorrik says anything of wanting to get out of the sands, they are all passionate about their homeland.
The only thing we know about sethrak wanting to leave/take new lands is that the Faithless want to take dominion over the world, and some faithless have expressed a desire to see new lands.
We have been told that the sethrak actually didn’t find many problems living in their newly made desert home, and that they consider Vol’dun as their most holy land.
Edit: The faithless even actively turn land they take over into desert since it does not bother them and even helps them.
And to elaborate on Ashfeet’s comment, Sethrak have proven to be a very adaptive race. Since Voldun was once a jungle. But they seem to do even better in a desert type environment,
Lot of snakes are actually this way. As far as being very adaptive to changes in climate.
From what I remember, and this is likely something I created it seems cause I cannot refind it, the events that made Vol’dun a desert made the region difficult pushing the Sethrak to slavery and conquest over time.
They were secure but always wanted to push further for resources.
I don’t think they have an issue with deserts.
And again…
I think I somehow created this thought rather than read it as I’ve been looking all day for it and can’t find it.
I think you may have mixed it up with the trolls, since the desertification of Vol’dun made it hard for the zandalari to live there so they eventually withdrew from there. Outside of some Loa temples and sending exiles there that is.
You know I was thinking about Emeni, since she wasnt sent to the maw she isnt pure evil of course, and her friend seems to support she is a good person but rather ruthless.
Of course his experience doesnt mean she is a good person, she is unapologetic for all the rivals and people that died because of her.
But she isnt so simple to be written off as pure evil or lack of reason for her actions, it seems she would rather be friendly but is protective of power and status.
Make an in game suggestion for them! You can do so by opening the in game menu, then selecting the Support Tab. Then from there you select “Submit Feedback or Bug Report.”
Alternatively, you can select the blue lightbulb icon on the top of the battlenet launcher.
No. I do not think she is purely evil. Not at all.
Also, sorry I have been a bit less responsive. I busted the ever loving nonsense out of my legs over the weekend. So I am sore and have no motivation for anything.
Hey checking in, still hoping for playable Sethrak. I hope it’s understood that there’s indeed interest in them, and plenty would play them. They’re a unique and neat concept, and again, I would roll one in a heartbeat.

On another note. I think this question has been answered by many in a round about way, but let me ask directly.
How would you all want Sethrak to be made playable? In a Patch? Part of the “selling point” of a future expansion? (Similarly to the Draenei, Blood Elves, Worgen and Goblins) As an AR? Etc?
What do you think would be the best way for Blizzard to go about it?
Honestly, thinking about it for a bit, I think the most hype thing for me would be to see Sethrak as part of a batch of new races, similar to how we see the beginning of BfA’s announcement, likely as an expansion feature.
Seeing a group of races becoming playable that people have been asking for would be pretty exciting. Not just getting races I particularly want, but also seeing races people have been requesting for a long time would make for a great time in the different megathreads. It would be amazing to see all the excitement and celebrations in the different megathreads as a result. Not to mention igniting our interest in the game again.
As for the type of playable race, seeing that batch utilizing an AR system would be the most fun for me in all honesty. We’d get to work with these races in-game on their respective factions, see their storylines, and then see the moment where they get invited into their respective factions would be really meaningful for us all. Not to mention that we would all be working together to report news on them (available classes, racials, customization videos, etc), how to unlock those races and even helping each other in-game to get everyone the unlock criteria needed as well. Something about the allied race system just strikes me as being meaningful and really fun to see the progress a race goes into joining the Horde/Alliance after working with them.
I feel like that would make for both fun gameplay and for people to come together as a community. Imagine all the in-game events we could do afterwards and all the customization screenshots of our characters that would get posted afterwards too! It’d be a dream to see that happen and see that Blizzard was taking note of our feedback.
That’s how I personally think it would be the best way to implement Sethrak and other playable races. It may be wishful thinking, but what a wish that would be.
Let’s get some reptiles on that character creation screen!
Yes, I think I agree with this. I actually quite love the Allied Race system. (Honestly did not mind the rep grind either, though I am also thankful for its removal. Just saying, I would be fine with rep being a part of the requirement in the future. Would also be fine if it was not)
And this reminds me I need to do the recruitment quest for a couple of the AR, yet. I have a terrible attention span.
But I do look forward to those questlines.
Personally hope Blizzard does not do away with that system as it was an engaging way to implement more races.
Also, just saw they put up an announcement of 9.1 hitting the PTR in a few weeks. Hopefully (but not counting on it) we will see some Sethrak stuff when they do the datamining. Or even hints to other playable races.
