same.
they’re the only race that I would actually be VERY excited about were they to announce them as being playable.
Same for me. There are others I’d think were cool and I’d maybe make one, but I would be extremely happy and excited if they made Saberon playable someday…and already have 4-5 characters in mind if they do.
knowing me, I’d pay to race-change any of my troll/orc/goblin/undead toons that were of permitted classes.
my dream is a Balance Snow Leopard Saberon Druid.
My hopes/thoughts are:
Orange tiger warrior
Black panther rogue
Snow leopard monk
White tiger hunter
Lion shaman or mage
Not sure I’d make all of them, but the orange tiger warrior is the 100% fantasy want from my childhood.
Do others think that paladin might NOT be a class that Saberon could play (at least not right at the start)?
I somehow get this feeling that Blizzard would make it work out this way at first. I LOVE my paladins, and I’d love to have a Saberon paladin, but somehow, I don’t think it might immediately “fit” too well with the whole “jungle hunter” aesthetic of the race.
Actually, Shazin’ s mention of Shaman makes me wonder if I might not be tempted to at least TRY more on a shaman if they were Saberon?
I have a shaman now, but she’s an orc I think, and I just cannot get into her character at all.
A lot really depends on when Paladins open up to all playable races, aside from Dracthyr.
If Saberon come after it, I could see some classes being added later since they take more resources to implement, but I could also see them starting with all classes that have opened up. Same with future new playable races in general.
If Paladins aren’t open to all races if Saberon become playable, then it would be something that would likely get added when Paladins open up.
As for how to explain Saberon Paladins, there are two ways I can see it. They could get a spin on it like Zandalari Paladins or they could be refugees that managed to escape from the Lightbound and are using their powers they got from them.
Granted, I’m sure the Lightbound consist more than just Paladins and Priests, but it’s still a good way to explain some race/class combinations for any of the AU Draenor races that happen to become playable, such as Saberon, Arakkoa, and even the AU Stonemaul Clan Ogres that gets integrated into the MU Stonemaul Clan.
Should Saberon become playable, I imagine they’ll be able to be almost any class at some point, with Evokers being the outlier at the moment. I’m sure there are plenty of ways to explain certain race/class combos, and with how class philosophy changing to have classes open up to all races, aside from Dracthyr currently, the view should change from what classes can a race be to how to explain that race/class combo when it comes to any new playable race.
We’ll have to see what they do with a new playable race and class selection to have a better idea of what will be done with class selection initially. Still, I’d think Saberon would be able to be almost all classes eventually.

–Playable Saberon would be grrrrrrrreat!
Well, whether Paladins become a playable class for potential Saberon, my fingers are still tightly entwined for Saberon Druids.
as Gollum would say: “We needs it, Precioussss.”
We need another Horde character~
Not just that, but from what I understand Blizzard is looking to continue creating stories for WoW while still keeping the “Warcrafty Feel”. This is a perfect way to shoot it off, besides, fighting botani right after dealing with insane elementals? (Mind you, I dont know the story of dragonflight, but from my understanding it’s an elemental that went nuts from a shadowflame or something) I think that could be interesting.
Valid point and I agree, the Saberon are a fierce and savage race who have shown to be quite intelligent when push comes to shove. Also evidence to suggest that they can grow even more intelligent, maybe even follow a similar path of “enlightenment” as the goblins. Maybe not to that extreme, but enough where they’re not as monstrous and are more willing to co-exist and reason. However we’ve seen examples of them being fine with alliance and horde even before that. If they do decide to bring in the Saberon, then having it be a part of the Botani war would prove much more interesting than just “Oh hey look, cat people.” adding a questline similar to the centaur people, where we learn about their culture and the hardships they face, would make the players grow more fond of the race. Along the way, the Saberon can make trade deals with the Horde and/or Alliance, and as you mentioned, offer insight into methods to take down hardier Botani. The latter I think would be a fun throw back to a certain quest in the Spires of Arak, recalling a war where the saberon nearly wiped out the flying birdlike Arakoa using nets and other tactics to bring them down. Maybe they even have a little instance of NPC’s telling stories of these “legends” about a war with ferocious bird men. Could be a fun. However… The Botani are a threat, and I hope that Blizzard hasn’t forgotten about this tidbit of information, as I do believe it could prove to be a very fun questline.
This is something I imagine to be one of the most likely, the trolls have access to this form that is similar to the form of the pack, but… Instead of a worgen, they turn into saberon. That is a specifically TROLL wildshape, so I believe that due to this, and the saberon’s nature, that they may have closer ties to the Loa’s Bethekk, Eraka no Kimbul, Halazzi, Har’koa, or another of the cat loa. That being said, I believe the race in the Horde they’d probably get along with the best, would be the trolls. Although I’d like to get your opinion on that, as I imagine a group of strictly orcs would possibly cause some tensions, so someone who can find mutual ground could provide assistance in their recruitment.
I will pay to race change all my toons if Saberon become playable
It seems like the Druid class will open up to all races eventually, aside from Dracthyr at present, so Saberon Druids would be a possibility. As such, it would be a good time to discuss Druid forums for them:
Aquatic form
Bear
Cat
Moonkin
Travel Form (Flying)
Travel Form (Ground)
Not sure if I’m forgetting anything. Always feels like I’m forgetting something.
I’m pondering more and more about Saberon and Botani in the Barrens. I might post some more thoughts on it since it has been awhile, which would open some more discussions as well.

well, the aquatic form HAS to be a catfish, doesn’t it.
bear form could be something like a wolverine type animal? muscular, large, not quite bear-like. or how about some sort of chupacabra-ish shape?
cat form, well, there’s LOTS of choice there, but honestly, I’d love for my Saberon to remain in their humanoid form for most fighting.
for travel form I think they should take on the actual cat form of whatever particular fur pattern you’ve chosen for them: Snow Leopard markings? Snow leopard travel form. Lion-like markings? Lion travel form. Tiger patterned fur and features? A tiger travel form.
As for Moonkin, well, I’m biassed in that I absolutely LOATHE all of the Moonkin forms, preferring to use the glyph of stars to keep the humanoid shape while in Moonkin form.
Aquatic form - CatFish
Bear - BearCat
Cat - CatCat ( it would make the worgen upset )
Moonkin - Fat BirdCat
Travel Form (Flying) - CatBird
Travel Form (Ground) - FastCat
Honestly the base lion seal works perfectly for them in my opinion, although they could also do a tiger shark if they wanted. Wouldn’t complain if they did.
Bear, cat, boomy, as long as they looked savage and tribal I’d be happy. Could have some wood and bone armor on them, maybe some feathers hanging off em… OR, their cat form could literally be them dropping to all four.
Would love for them to be able to turn into a wyvern, but I doubt that could happen… Honestly only thing I can really think of that makes sense to me design wise, would take inspiration from the wyvern like creatures. Cat mixed with bird.
Honestly the cheetah form I think works just fine, if they wanted to add a special form then they COULD do a custom cheetah form? Maybe some armor similar to the saberon npc’s we see around, could also make them turn into a massive sabercat.
Truthfully, I imagine the saberons’ druid forms being sabercat mixed with (insert form here) Blizzard has shown they can make sabercats look absolutely beautiful. Look at the season 1 vicious mount for Dragonflight, if they got something like that for one of their forms, I’d be happy.
On other notes, I recently moved to EU to play with some friends, we’re going to Gorgrond where I have met, once again, a friendly saberon who doesn’t want to kill us. Their name, is Prowler Sasha, in the side quest “Need more Teeth”. NOW, as far as I’m aware this is a strictly alliance quest… So, maybe there is a possibility saberon will be Alliance, I dunno. Personally don’t care what faction they are, as long as we get them, I’ll main em.
“Prowler Sasha silently holds out his hand to reveal a necklace crafted of stained leather and putrid brown ogre teeth all with a matching tone of rot to them.”
This suggests that collecting trophies from strong opponents is a part of their culture, maybe it’s similar to the Alien we all know as “The Predator”. Which to be honest, if it is true, I think that’s pretty cool. Anyway, it’s a quick short quest, but it’s another friendly saberon we see. That’s at least… Let’s see, The Skinner, Sasha, Leo, and the tiger guy whose name I can’t remember, can get him as a follower. That’s four, and there must be more especially since they came to Azeroth. Thoughts?
Edit: After we do this quest, if you choose the Arena instead of Lumbermill, you have a chance to summon Sasha when using the map ability. So, maybe it’s not just a trophy system, maybe it’s a “Showing of strength”. The Saberon could have a culture that’s all about hunting and proving one’s strength to your fellow saberon, only the strongest being worthy enough to be chieftain. IF THAT IS THE CASE, which I TRULY hope it is, then having them as allies to the Horde would be beyond perfect. That and I think it would be funny to see them having banter with other races, bragging about past kills, then the saberon being awe struck at the mention of killing a dragon.
will they be horde or alliance
they better NOT be Alliance!
Alliance have Worgen.
I suspect that a playable Saberon would probably be based on the same frame.
And come on, they can’t give both cats AND dogs to the same faction… one HAS to go Horde.
It’s not just that though, while I main alliance (at the moment atleast) I can’t picture many ways that make alot of sense to have saberon be a part of the Alliance. I mean yeah you can do something with the druids and say “OOooOo they went under the ritual to cleanse their savagery.” or "They’re lightbound now and are purely good! " But… that’s boring and takes away what people love from the saberon. Saberon are those tribal, vicious, cat like hunters who pride themselves on their skills AS HUNTERS… I’m sorry but that fits the Horde, not the alliance. Yes, if the alliance were to get them I wouldn’t complain, as that just means I still get the race I want most, but it makes the most sense for Horde to have saberon simply because of their culture, design, and what little we know of them already. With the Horde, there is much more potential for creativity and more avenues to bring them in, however… I still think if the Horde get Saberon, Alliance should get Arrakoa.
Also, could I have permission to post this on the EU forums? See if we could get some support there as well? Would feel better if you did it, but don’t mind doing it myself if that’s not possible.
While I wouldn’t play an Arrakoa, I DO find them fascinating, and was hoping they would become an allied race for one faction or the other.
I found their lore (what little there was… but there was IMMENSE potential) to be interesting, and found a number of the quests related to them to be emotionally gripping.
