I agree with this. I think its likely that the Saberon would see both the Laughing Skull clan and the LFD as dangerous. But given the story we’ve seen so far about Yrel and the Lightbound I’d bet they’d be more concerned with the Lightforged Draenei more so than the LSC.
Since I didn’t do anything necrolord-related, I didn’t get a chance to see this saberon. Good to see Blizzard remembering them.
Although little seen, they have not been forgotten.
That is a good point. I could see them being very wary of the Alliance because of both the Draenei and the Lightforged Draenei. Not to mention the rumors of Turalyon potentially going on a zealous streak with his lightforged powers.
On the other hand, I can see Saberon being sore about being hunted for their hearts thanks to at least one of the AU Mag’har Clans, among other kerfuffles they might have had with other AU Mag’har Orc clans in general. I’m not really sure which would be easier to tackle in storylines when considering what faction Saberon would be on.
It’s not impossible, of course. Just needs some careful and creative writing to make it work for either faction. To be clear, I’m fine with Saberon on either faction. I just want them as a playable race in general.
Very much this. I hadn’t considered that but one of the scenarios people have suggested is that the Lightbound actually are with Turalyon when we get back and its a situation where they’ve become the bad guys and the Alliance for once have to fight for their factions freedom from itself.
Saberon could very much not trust the Alliance after all that.
They did mention during the recruitment scenario that many of the Mag’har clans had lost their specific trials because of everything that had gone down. May be that the LSC doesn’t really do that anymore and hasn’t for a long time.
Those wounds would still be there but could be far less than the LFD and Lightbound ones.
Eh. If I was a saberon and don’t know the ppl well, with the history of both people, I would be very weary of both regardless of clans or what not. I do not think the average saberon would know of the orcish clan system or the light.
Honestly, I’d be curious how they would handle a Lightbound invasion of our world. I see a lot of interesting potential and storylines with some of the racial members of the Horde and Alliance.
In such an event, I don’t know what the chances are we’d go back to AU Draenor, which I have mixed feelings of on the idea, or if we’d just fend them off on Azeroth. If we did go back, then there would be some places where some of the denizens of AU Draenor would be holding out we could assist would, since we’d need a base/quest hub. It would also be a good opportunity to introduce some new playable races, like Saberon and Arakkoa.
Assuming AU Draenor continues to die and decay, it could be a good reason to bring back allies we worked with and give them homes on Azeroth. Saberon and Arakkoa seem to be the main races I could see working with, along with any AU Ogres still around and not absorbed by the Lightbound. Some interesting possibilities here.
Regardless of how it is handled, it seems like another interesting storyline that could involve the Saberon that escaped with us to Azeroth. I feel like we’ll see the Lightbound eventually come up again at some point, so we’ll see what happens if it does.
You forgot botoni…
I’m sure something could be written for Botani to be more friendly we could work with and even a potential playable race.
My own personal opinion is that I don’t really see them as a potential playable race or even a friendly NPC race. The vast majority of them have extremist views of dominance over all organic life and have done a lot of things that were not very nice to the races and wild animals of AU Draenor. They don’t really strike me as someone you could sit down and have a cup of tea with on a sunny day.
Not against them at all by any means, of course. If it can be written for some Botani to be good and lead into some cool storylines, I’m all for it. I just honestly see them more as an antagonistic NPC race is all.
My dream is its the new Cata setup. (leaving a dragon lady in each zone to send us back to old timeline(s).)
But unlike Cata during the events of each zone we see the problems fixed and our forces rebuild what was destroyed, so we don’t have to worry about Azeroth anymore.
During this several races join the Alliance and Horde as the story unfolds. (no rep requirements only story based locks).
I’d also dream to see last names per character and player and guild housing be implemented.
But that’s a dream…
I think it’ll turn out that AU Draenor is gone. That that was the catalyst that brought the Lightbound to Azeroth MU.
The races from AU Draenor I’d imagine are gone or incorporated into the Lightbound.
Those that escaped with the Mag’har are of course still free to join whomever.
They seem to me like they’re intended to be enemies.
I wouldn’t be upset if a kinder group joined up though.
I’d really like to see them take over the Wailing Caverns and be a threat there.
That could be a good reason for the Lightbound to arrive on Azeroth. It could also be a good reason for Saberon to get involved, since their homeworld got destroyed and they were likely hunted and subjugated into the Lightbound army. Obviously, they don’t want to deal with that again, so I can see them helping out in such a scenario.
I’d like that as well.
An old world revamp is very much needed, IMO. Especially as a place for new players to level in, as it’s hard for me to imagine much sense being made with a new player starting out and suddenly becoming the chosen one and thrusted into the afterlife to go through Shadowlands.
And adding in several new races would garner interest in going through the new leveling areas and adding some huge excitement to the game. I already know several races that would fit well in such a scenario, but that’s just me of course.
Thats exactly my thought.
Any remaining Saberon that were on the AU Draenor may have been “Incorporated” into the Lightbound. We know they’re not against forceful conversion.
Exactly on all points.
Plus having them actually see us repair and fix those zones this time around would make it so we don’t feel like we’ve left things undone as we move on into other cosmic expansions.
Another new month, another round of in-game playable race suggestion feedback with references to their respective megathreads. Saberon are part of that, of course!
I suspect the Lightbound army would have a lot of the AU Draenor races, only with a heavy emphasis on light theme. It’d be kinda unsettling to see, especially if they make the Lightbound really self righteous zealots in general.
Still, getting Saberon that escaped with us to Azeroth involved and helping out would be interesting to see. Moreso if AU Draenor was in the process of being slowly destroyed. Would make for a neat story to help the Saberon get settled on our world (of Warcraft!) and get help with them against a huge threat.
As I keep saying, there is a lot of interesting storyline potential with them and molding them into a playable race!
Vide Borgs, in Star Trek or Alien ( xenomorph ).
Botani has no appeal to me as being a psychopathic version of Night elves + extremists.
At least I wouldn’t like them in the alliance, as they are another race that would only repeat the night elves, only made of wood.
We already have plenty of elves in the alliance.
Personally I would prefer saberons.
my only hope is that if ever they do add Saberon (which would be my greatest wish! I’d race change so many of my toons), that we get a few different body shapes.
if I recall correctly the wild Saberon outside our Horde garrison were somewhat slimmer and felt more feline to me.
The massive shoulders on all of the above images seem unbalanced to me. But then I’m a cat love, and I always think of cats as being lithe and agile, more slender than stocky. I always picture something like a Cheetah (which would be my go-to fur colour pattern).
They use the Worgen model and I’d assume they’ll use the female one too.
The female model is much more lithe.
Would be really neat to switch between them whether you were male or female though.
It would be the most logical and easy choice, as well as avoiding having to make a new skeleton from scratch.
Just see the leonin female from Magic™ the gathering game.
Females are thinner and males more muscular.

Blizzard doesn’t have to reinvent the wheel with the female model for saberon.

An interesting way to go would be to make 2 male and 2 female models for each of the existing worgen rigs.
Similar to how the ardenweald faun guys use the same rig as the females, the female draenei.
Then you could have a more lithe male and a hulkier female
I would play a snaggletooth kitty
Honestly not a bad idea for every race…
