Unoffical Playable Saberon Discussion Thread

It’s the Worgen heavy use spell animation.

Very neat.

Goodness! I’d be super happy to play cat people that look like these.

I had another neat video in my YouTube recommendations that shows a rescue group preparing and feeding turkeys to all their wild cats that have been rescued.

One particular lion gets greedy and hogs two of them for himself, but don’t worry. His tiger friend gets some to munch on as well. Apparently they are friends and play with each other, which is why they’re kept in the same enclosure.

Video is here:

In terms of WoW, Pilgrim’s Bounty has started in-game. Wowhead has information and a link to a guide to the event here:

I may check it out and see if I can take any fun screenshots with my Saberon toy when I can. In the meantime, Turkey Massacre Day is getting closer, and I’m getting more hungry as we approach it! :cut_of_meat::tiger2:

That’s a very scary angry face.

Happy U.S. Thanksgving to those who celebrate it!

Still keeping hope that Saberon will someday be able to enjoy Pilgrim’s Bounty, among other holidays in WoW! :cut_of_meat::tiger2:

This is a tough one. While we have some info about saberon, they seem to be aggresive no matter whom talks to them.

But being alliance already have worgen, I’d say give them to the horde as a allied race. The alliance could get another race model as compensation later.

I’d be happy to get them regardless of faction.

I’m… I think… more on the Horde getting em at the moment… though I wont be unhappy if they go Alliance.

Blizzard needs to do something that regains players’ interest and confidence.

What can be done faster and with less risk of yet another harmful side effect are new races, classes/specs.

Saberon would be a good choice. I confess that I would like to see them in the alliance, since sauroks and setraks are something more possible in the horde and the alliance would not support another joke like junkgnomes, obese humans and purple blood elves of the horde.

The alliance needs something that will revitalize the faction and return some appreciation to the blue faction.

Something to note with Shadowlands is that there is a Saberon spirit along with other NPC race spirits there:

He doesn’t really do much, other than react excitedly to Emeni getting her abomination to reside in during the Necrolords campaign.

Still, it is interesting to see Saberon are capable of being chosen to go to Maldraxxus to help defend the Shadowlands. It shows they aren’t all completely feral beasts, and there could be more to them and their culture as time goes on. Especially if any became enlightened like Leorajh.

If Saberon are capable of working with others, as shown with some WoD followers and with the idea of some of them in Maldraxxus, then it would be cool to see them working with either of the main factions and even becoming members someday! :cut_of_meat::tiger2:

This!

I’ve seen many accuse the Saberon as being just enemies with nothing behind them but feral intentions. But they’re clearly a culture and people.

Maldraxxus just further proves it.

His reaction to Emeni is interesting because it denotes a familiarity with her as if he knows her or knew her in life. I mean he could have gotten well acquainted with her as a soul too, depending on how long Emeni and him have been in Maldraxxus.

It’s nice to see that Saberon are worthy of Maldraxxus after death as an immortal soldier. He must have been impressive in life before he died or was killed. In order to be worthy of Maldraxxus, he must have been an amazing warrior in life. Considering that decades have past in WoD Draenei by the time the Maghar joined the Horde, Yrel had conquered Draenor with her tyrannical lightforged army. It’s very likely that many more Saberon were enlightened during this time.

Most of the NPC race souls there seem to know Emeni. I suspect it’s her infamy in the Shadowlands that they know her of, since I assume that the souls there have been waiting for an abomination to be made so they can inhabit it.

I think most of the NPC souls there have a line of text as they reaction when you do the questline to get Emeni her abomination. The only other thing any of them do is the Saurok soul having a conversation with two generic souls, one of which is likely a Dwarf, when you walk up to them at any point in Maldraxxus. You can see the conversation here:

This is something I’ve thought about. A decent amount of time has passed in AU Draenor since we left, and it’s possible the Saberon could’ve evolved some since then. Especially if any joined Leorahj in seeking enlightenment in some way. I assume some of the tribes could’ve joined together as survival as Yrel and the Lightbound took over Draenor, which would make for a good storyline with the Saberon that escaped to Azeroth with us.

Lots of potential here! :cut_of_meat::tiger2:

I wanted to take a look at the Saberon followers you can get for your garrison in WoD and see if there was anything of interest with any of them. As far as I am aware, there are at least 3, but if I happened to miss any, please let me know!

First, let’s look at Goldmane the Skinner:

You get this follower from the following quest in Nagrand:

While he doesn’t really speak, likely not knowing your player character’s language, it is interesting that he is capable of showing gratitude and being able to work with others. Something a few other Saberon have shown.

Also, he apparently keeps his claws sharp enough that he doesn’t need a knife to skin, which is very fitting.

Next is Pallas:

You can recruit him by buying his contract from this NPC for 100 Blackfang claws:

A few things of interest with this Saberon.

First, he has a regular tiger fur pattern, which looks really neat.

Second, he also has a mane, which would be an important customization option for male Saberon.

Third is the unique armor he has on. Something to note in case it is important for Saberon armor design.

The last interesting part of him is his spoken text on the Wowpedia page I linked above. Unlike Goldmane, he is capable of talking perfectly fine. He also talks a lot about honor and combat, which might be something important in Saberon culture in general.

The last follower is Leorahj:

You can recruit Leorajh from this quest:

Leorajh is an interesting Saberon for various reasons.

First, while he can speak to players, he does so in a bit of a broken language, unlike Pallas who seems to speak our language very well.

Second is of course the armor, which I’ll note again for possible Saberon culture design.

The third and most interesting part of Leorajh is that he “expanded his mind” with apexis crystals, gaining some intelligence and some form of enlightenment. I know he was exiled from his own clan and viewed as being weak, but I’m curious if he might’ve been able to share his knowledge and method for expanding his mind with other Saberon. It’s an important thing to note, as it would be an interesting path to take with the Saberon who escaped with us, as well as explaining how playable Saberon would be more intelligent and open to meeting with players.

All three of these Saberon have some interesting aspects to them. It does also show that there is more to the Saberon than just feral beasts, and that they are capable of working with others. Saberon would need more fleshing out, of course, but it does help to show off some idea inspiration for playable Saberon in general.

I’ll continue to keep an eye out for anything else of interest with Saberon research! :cut_of_meat::tiger2:

Not to mention the fact that he understands the concept of gestures (though IRL cats and dogs understand gestures too) and using them to convey expression.

Wearing clothing is another characteristic that implies that Saberon are more than beasts and have societies and culture. The style of armor suggests a shamanic hunter/warrior culture made with creatures of the habitat. The fact that he can speak well and talks of honor and combat is evidence that Saberon are intelligent, but primitive at least when we met them last. With Leorahj expanding his mind via apexis crystals it wouldn’t be a stretch to think that others of his kind wouldn’t seek him out to be enlightened as well.

Then you have thirty years that have passed on AU Draenor and the Lightbound army’s tyranny. It wouldn’t surprise me one bit if the Lightbound army tried to force enlightenment on those that they perceive as savage sort of like how the missionaries went to Africa to proselytize tribes.

I really like this idea! but I’m a bit skeptical it’ll make it in. I think our closest compromise would be a feral druid form as Saberon. They already did the cool wearbear for guardian so it isn’t super farfetched for feral

There used to be one.

I wouldn’t mind seeing both, and both are valid options.

This would be a great explanation why some of the Saberon escaped with us to Azeroth. Of course, seeing as at least one of the AU Mag’har Clans hunted them, it makes sense why they would run off to find shelter elsewhere upon arriving in Azeroth.

As I said, I think this would work very well with handling the Saberon in Azeroth. I feel like many of the Saberon tribes likely fell to the Lightbound, and the remaining Saberon of a united tribe coming with us sounds like a great storyline to work towards them becoming playable. Especially when dealing with the Botani in the area, who I am sure are up to no good.

It requires some fleshing out and explaining that more than the two Saberon we see came with us, which given all the Mag’har NPC’s and players, it shouldn’t be too much of a stretch. Then it’s just a matter of figuring out what faction to put them on, and then there are lots of possibilities to work with!

Regardless of what faction they would join, I’m sure the Saberon would be dubious at first. The Horde has the AU Laughing Skull Clan, who hunted them for their hearts, and the Saberon likely fought with the other Mag’har Clans over time. The Alliance has Draenei and Lightforged Draenei, which while they’re from our universe, I could see them being skeptical of them, having dealt with Yrel and her forces. It isn’t impossible for them to join either faction of course, but some work would need to be done to have them warm up to whatever faction they’d join in a storyline sense.

Regardless of what is done, I can see a very interesting and fun storyline recruiting the Saberon that came with us to Azeroth. Hopefully, they’ll have that chance someday! :cut_of_meat::tiger2:
