I have a strong feeling that it is just a concept placeholder, and if so, I’m so excited to see how his finished model will look! It’d also be a perfect xpack for Reno to show up in, considering that he’s a blue dragon! (I love Rafaam’s interactions with Reno, and I’d also love to see more of the League of Explorers squad. I miss chilling with Brann.)
Ethereals in Dragonflight? How is that possible?
Ethereals haven’t had any trouble traveling to Azeroth before. They hang out in our major cities even.
I imagine they just traveled like normal.
I really do hope 11.0 takes us to K’aresh.
I personally prefer the cosmic stuff, but I understand not everyone does.
With more ethereals showing up in DF I think its entirely possible.
Same here on both counts. I love the cosmic stuff, and Uldaman back in the day got me so interested in it and the Titans for the WoW setting. After re-running Ulduar mostly in first person mode the other day for transmog and screenshots, it reminded me of how much of a payoff that raid was for people invested in the mysteries of the Titans/cosmos.
Given that we’ll also be seeing some Titan watchers, and given the dragonflights’ connection to the Titans, I have hope that we’ll at least get a bit more of the cosmic stuff! Just in a way that’s more digestible for the part of the fanbase that only really enjoy it when they don’t consciously register that it’s cosmic stuff.
Can’t forget about my favorite NPC race
Ethereals for the Alliance!
The Ethereals certainly haven’t forgotten about us.
Not recent news, but new to Dragonflight.
It might have just been my wishful thinking come true for once, but I was thinking that the suspicious coins were probably coming from an ethereal. It might still be wishful thinking, since we don’t have solid confirmation, but I think the reference to the Curious Coin, the currency you use with the ethereal Xur’ios in Legion Dalaran, is even more of a hint that it’s from Shadreen!
I have my fingers crossed that the next xpack will be a Void-focused one. I’m having a blast with Dragonflight, but I can’t wait for more ethereal-related content! (Really, really hoping that Rafaam shows up this xpack in a future patch!)
I hope to see Outlands 2.0 and aleast have more zones than less like 3 to 5 in the recent expansions…
I miss having 7 to 9 zones like Outlands and Northrend.
After coming up with a new theme for some future threads, that being megathreads for how to implement classes for various races, I realized that technically with the openness of Ethereal lore there’s a lot that can be done.
Take Druid for example:
While we haven’t seen any Ethereal Druids yet, we know that there are canonically MILLIONS of Ethereals (which makes sense given that presumably the entire population of K’aresh would have been shredded). Therefore, it would be entirely within the realm of possibility that there were Wild Gods on K’aresh who taught the humanoids on K’aresh the nature of Druidism and those Druids stayed on the planet to help it. This could also explain their pre-existing interest in preserving nature as shown on Outland with their Eco-domes. I assume there are Wild Gods on K’aresh because it has thus far been a pattern that each planet has them in some capacity.
Testing to see how this functions
Testing
"Again, testing to see function"
I would love that! There’s also a chance that some members of the Consortium could’ve struck a deal with the Cenarion Expedition druids that came to visit the eco-domes in Netherstorm.
If I recall right, one druid mentioned that she hoped they would trade her some of their technology, so maybe the price for such advanced tech could’ve been knowledge about druidic magic.
I hope that if Blizzard were to make ethereals playable, they would remember that plot point because it would be a good pre-established explanation for another unique style of druid where the general aesthetic is an eco-dome scientist. A techno-druid would be a lot of fun!
Old news but I wanted to highlight:
“The Ethereals are a lot of fun and we can expect to see more fun, cool stuff with them when the time is right.”
These dudes have always sort of freaked me out, but I think they would make a great playable race.
Much better than Arakkoa, but not quite as cool as Murlocs.
Elnir did such an amazing job! I would love this as the playable models.
I can’t get over how eager I am for the next xpack already. The interview with Steve got me so excited to see what’s next for the Ethereals.
I’ve been wanting this since BC. PLEASE BLIZZ PLEASE. I want to be a disco lights mummy and run around calling people “flesh beasts” SO BAD.
Wowhead posted an article on an Ethereal themed cosmetic set becoming transmoggable:
It apparently comes from a very rare mini pet.
Not sure if this affects playable Ethereal chances, which it really shouldn’t lower chances in my opinion. If they ever became playable, I’m sure this transmog set would look pretty good on them.
I’ll keep an eye out on anything to report that is Ethereal related.
Thanks, Bagzak! I was excited to see this set be made moggable! The chest piece also applies the leg bandages, so you can get creative with what’s put into the actual leg slot with that mog, similar to the Blue Overalls item.
Also, they recently made Nexus-Champion Saraad from Hearthstone into a playable mage hero card in that game! I’d share a link, if the forums would let me.
I would really love to see Saraad in WoW some day. I’d like to add an energy camel mount like his to my collection, too.
