Unoffical Playable Ethereal Discussion Thread

If Etherals joined the Alliance, I’m wonder if they would have a bit of rivalry with Goblins. Seeing as they both like money, it seems like something that would work very well as a contrast in that regard with making deals and such.

I can kinda imagine Etherals and Goblins trying to race each other setting up deals for their respective factions to set up an outpost or so on different areas we’d go to for future expansions, possibly with some bidding wars. Seems like it would make for some interesting flavor text, quests, and general world building.

Lots of interesting opportunities with that! :moneybag:

I was always partial to the Ethereals and the Sporelings.

Hmm… Honestly playable Sporelings would make my day too.

Think mines gonna be a Shadow Priest. Go the Void Ethereal route.

I could see that.

Be rather entertaining to listen to their banter back and forth.

Trying to come up with racials for the Ethereals and I’m having trouble figuring how I should do it…

It kinda depends on how they would be implemented into the game. Would it just be the Consortium?

Would it be a group of Void Ethereals?

Depending on how they join racials could be wildly different I think…

Anyone else have thoughts?

Part of me wonders if they would have the Goblin racial of getting a discount on most items from NPC vendors.

It seems fitting for them to have something like that. My own opinion is that it should be fine for multiple races to have the same racial, provided it makes sense. I imagine something money related would be part of an Ethereal’s racial skills, though I can’t really think too much on ideas for that aside from the Goblin racial.

It’s not the perfect thing to do, I’m sure, but it is a thought to consider. :moneybag:

I could see it. I don’t know if it would be exactly the same but I can see something along those lines.

And yeah I think it should be fine in some cases for races to have the same racial, though flavored to the race. Whether thats just a slight name change or minor tweak to how the racial works.

Like Jinyu, Ankoan, Kelfin and Forsaken all having water breathing makes perfect sense to me.

I have a desperate and mighty need for playable Ethereals. Blizzard, please, I beg of you. Let my monk become the backflipping, kick-punching space mummy he was always meant to be.

Your mog is certainly set for it!

I’d love to see Ethereals become playable!

Thank you! I try to make due with what I have for now. He’s an Ethereal in my heart.

Can’t wait to see whatever gets revealed in the next expansion preview!

(If the next expansion really is about the dragon flights, at the very least, it might be a good opportunity to add Arch-Thief Rafaam into WoW, considering the Galakrond plotline in Hearthstone. I can dream. But I really would like to see some League of Explorers and League of EVIL antics continued in WoW as a fun sub-plot to make archaeology a way more interesting profession.)

Rafaam for new Nexus-King, Supreme Ethereal Faction Leader!

That could be entertaining.

For those of us unfamiliar with hearthstone stories what’s the gist of that line?

Essentially, the final step of Rafaam’s evil scheme to take control of Azeroth is to resurrect the great dragon Galakrond to do his bidding. He succeeds in doing this, but it doesn’t go as planned.

(195) Hearthstone: The Complete Cinematic Story Movie - Rise of the Dragon - YouTube Someone made an awesome “movie” out of the whole Rise of the Dragon plotline! But you can skip towards the end to the part where he actually revives the dragon. (Even though the video is long, though, it feels like it goes by fast.)

It was announced that the next expansion will be announced on April 19th:

Not too sure what to expect, honestly. There is a hope of mine that playable race requests will be considered at the very least. Keeping my fingers crossed for my wanted playable races, but will keep expectations tempered of course.

That being said, Ethereals would be interesting as a playable race. I’d be really curious to see how their customization options would be. Hopefully, we’ll see that happen someday! :moneybag:

Oh neat. Thats really cool.

Wish we got side stories like these in WoW sometimes.

I also wish we got grand-scale side-stories that were this fun and silly in WoW. The storyline for every Hearthstone solo adventure is amazing. They’re goofy, yeah, but feel incredibly in the spirit of WoW’s light-hearted side.

And, yeah, I’m desperately hoping we could get several new playable races next xpack. I guess a lot of people have been wanting Tinkerer for a long time, so if it really does happen, I’d be happy for the people that have been wanting it, but after that, I would just love if they continued what they were doing with Allied Races and give us lots of new playable races and character customization options from now on.

I often feel these days that WoW has on the whole become far too serious in some of its quest chains. Some seriousness is good but WoW was always meant to have its kooky side. Some side stories like that, as we see in Hearthstone, (I’ve now seen a few videos on them since your last post) would be amazing!

You and me both.

My favorite class concept is Necromancer but Tinkerers are probably my second most wanted class. And I feel like its time we did get a new class…

But Allied Races should be expanded in my opinion. At the very least so we can give everyone the race and character they’d like to play. By the same token character customization needs to be expanded considerably and equaled out across the board. I should be able to use scars, tattoos and warpaints on all characters for instance. Eye colors should be a thing for everyone with blind and half blind options using ALL the eye colors. Jewelry should have color options that change the underwear color as well like LFD have.

So many things they need to shore up.

In the spirit of this thread, Ethereals for the Alliance! :sparkles: :sparkler:

They should be a regular addition. It’s something players enjoy.
Same for customization.

I agree that allied races should be a regular addition. To be honest, it would get me to play more and even engage in content more if it unlocked new playable races. In fact, I went to previous expansions and tried to do various questlines and get exalted with reps in case it lead to something like that in the future.

Of course, I’d like to be able to get more character slots for my account too. Hopefully, that’ll be an option in the future.

Also, 36 days until the next expansion is announced! :moneybag:

Yeah I’d add new races every other patch or at least a few each expansion. Its a good feature to draw folk in, though I’d have them unlocked with story and no rep requirements. (And AFTER the expansion they’re added in they’d just be unlocked.)

I could get behind that. Like for the Zandalari and Kultirans…story was plenty. Having a rep makes it feel worse.
I’ve liked how they’ve changed pathfinder as well for these last few zones. Having it unlock as part of the story rather than a bunch of busy work.

Yeah if it’s part of the story a rep really isn’t logical.

I agree. Flying should be a reward not a chore if blizzard must absolutely keep it from us at all anyways.

I say just let us fly once we’re the max level. (still account wide. I like that part.)

Yeah, definitely without the big gold sink, I hated that.
