No, it’s just a really bad example, sorry. Most of those pokemon you have absolutely zero chance of obtaining now. Especially those given away at live events in the early 00s that required handing over or mailing your game cartridge.
Agree to disagree, because for me, I won´t care if they bring CM transmog or mage tower weapons if people still need to do a challenge gameplay to get those. I don´t think is selfish to request future systems to be evergreen systems that persist after their specific expansion.
I just saw that with people trying other games on which you can go and farm previous expansions content with a level of difficulty involve. also, i agree with limited time rewards like gladiators mounts based on skill for that specific season, but for systems like Challenge Mode or Mage Tower should be permanent and we need to bring these concerns to the devs. They decided to bring Mage Tower without the original weapons, because they promoted it as one thing event, now they need to add new reward that’ll stay there for new players to come in the future, that´ll have to face a similar balance challenge.
You should go back to your fake shill thing, was a funner troll style.
That seems rather assumptive of you.
Do you always do that to people you know absolutely nothing about?
sooo uhhh original corrupted ashbringer and benediction on BMAH yeah…yeah, yeahhhhhhh
Yup, if it’s on BMAH for people to get without a grind (lets face it BMAH is legit just people buying tokens or playing the normal AH all friggin day at this point) there isn’t really a reason not to let people grind that stuff out
It’s interesting that people get mad if they mention something like Challenge mode sets or Mage tower weapons on BMAH, but if you check the list of items for that AH, you can find the Plague Protodrake which was provided by the Naxxramas gloria, the Zulian and Raptor from previous ZulGurub. Devs change mind at any time.
This is true. I got it from WarcraftPets.com’s guild they had on Madoran. I rolled a death knight and played it til I had the rep and gold (I think I sold a caged pet there, too) to buy it.
I had no idea at the time it was limited though, I just know I was already in my own bank guild and wouldn’t leave it.
No, troll.
I don’t really believe in the concept of limited/FOMO items for the following reasons.
I do not care if you have it and I don’t. I don’t say this to be mean, I’m so NOT saying “I hate you if you have it and I don’t,” when I say I don’t care I mean I just don’t even think of it most of the time. I’m utterly neutral. For me, I just can’t get it end of story. It isn’t “cool” to me that some people have it but most don’t, like, at all. If it’s something I like, it’s a bummer that I can’t get it, but c’mon, this game has so much customization these days if you think you need any individual set let alone skin you aren’t broadening your horizons.
One of the reasons I personally don’t care is I may not even want it, I’m not even saying I should get it, this is not a post begging for these items. It’s just that if, say, there’s a FOMO mog set I really like, that’s now one less thing I’m willing to grind for. I won’t pine for it and I definitely won’t pay BMAH prices either, but if the content were still available I’d put time into it and thus money.
Straight up I don’t like most of the new mage tower rewards so probably won’t do it. There are probably at least a few of the originals that I would get though, and it has nothing to do with how rare they are or not, I just like what appeals to me and don’t like what doesn’t. Like fel-bear could be ultra rare, I will never ever want that thing. I’ll never want OG werebear either because I find the proportions ridiculous, but at least it’s not something that’s the exact opposite of druidism, so I’d be much more likely in a vacuum to go for that over the new one. So by gatekeeping certain assets for what I consider no good reason, they are potentially chipping away at the number of things people will want to do, and what sells more subs, the few people who frantically acquired it at release or the legions of people who will come through years later still going after it?
So I see it as them withholding content (like say Ordos, who the heck cares about his exclusivity at this point?) to create artificial scarcity (another thing in games I do not believe in) at the expense of those of us who would like a chance at all the content, especially once it’s no longer current.
Like mage tower mogs? It doesn’t improve my game whatsoever that someone else has it. It’s just one less thing I could be doing, and that seems bad in a game where doing things is how you stay subbed.
They can even FOMO stuff during current expansion, I likewise would not care about that, like one patch limited editions, just make it only for that expansion. Once it’s old, it’s everyone’s. Make it no less than three expansions old, whatever.
Imagine if the game basically told you you can’t have something because you weren’t there when it was current. Imagine if all the old tier gear was locked down that way. You’d lose an entire class of player most likely. Most players aren’t overly concerned with these things. If I have a FOMO item, and I have more than a few over the years, literally no one cares. Won’t even get me free drinks at the inn.
If there was a way I could plant a brain worm that makes people see how little value these “rare” objects genuinely have, and that anything worth a grind that draws the player’s eye is good for the company, we wouldn’t need to be having this conversation.
I have all 36 of the mogs I loved the mage tower, and I wish my friends who didn’t play in legion could have the same experience. The game is less because blizzard keeps removing the fun and interesting side content every expansion and they need to cut that out. Having more things to strive for is a good thing, and not having those weapons out there is a waste of art assets.
They should ramp up on this stuff, twisting corridors should have something this expac, bfa should have had something in general beyond the 5 mask title. And of course timewalking mage tower should have the weapons. Having fun solo content with relevant rewards is awesome.
imo the idea of locked content is stupid as you said, its withholding the player base from content just because they weren’t there at the time but with that being said I do agree with the “I was there” type thing but in form of achievements not locking content and items from players. It sucks that so much content gets wasted and locked when it can provide players another thing to do during their time playing. There are so many vanity things I wish I could’ve gotten from previous expansions but because I couldn’t play constantly month to month I can no longer acquire these items. I wouldn’t like to see items like these just thrown onto the BMAH though. Just like they’re doing for Legion time walking I would love(but doubt they would ever do this) to see WoD and MoP challenge appearances to comeback and maybe even T3 naxx(besides BMAH). It sucks seeing WoD and MoP items just sitting there collecting dust and the T3 being a bidding warfare. The time walking events are a great way to let people who weren’t playing at the time a chance to do this content but this is my own fantasy world which won’t come to reality
Give it a rest already. People should get past items after a few years, stop gatekeeping.
Readd removed quest content/pre patch content/classic world in retail.
Put all TCG rewards and removed special rewards such as mage tower appearances and other mounts/transmog in the BMAH
old mythic raid sets are still obtainable by the masses after that raid becomes legacy content so at the start of the following expansion allow players who obtain the rank of gladiator in a given season to purchase former elite PvP sets for marks of honor.
All unavailable items should become available again.
No.
I mean, we didn’t have warning for the Plagued Protodrake, and they never did it again. The Black also isn’t up there yet, which is a shame. (…also still shooting myself in the foot because I let somebody outbid me on the Plagued at the start of SL. Hasn’t popped back up since.)
Zulian / Raptor were just RNG drops.
The pet here also differs because you never had to do the CMs yourself to buy it, just join the guild - and as years have gone by, guilds that have that pet are getting more and more uncommon, so the rarity got oddly artificial and not in a good way.
I’m all for abolishing FOMO, it’s a toxic trait that just abuses psychology to keep people playing, but a lot of the things people are comparing just don’t compare.
Trophies - which some of the removed items absolutely are - should be respected, so if it’s a “trophy” reward, the model should be reintroduced, but the original colours left alone to respect the efforts of those players. Some elite sets, Gladiator mounts, CM sets, and a couple other things through the years all fall into this.
It’s not going to kill somebody’s ego if you can get a black armored netherdrake from 200+ hours of battlegrounds or something. I’d actually like to get more colours of my CM sets too, and not nerfed down mediocre versions like the Legion sets. The actual sets. There are recolours already in the game files, attach them to MoP timewalking or something.
Absolutely everything else - RNG drops, crafteds, ect? Just toss them on the BMAH, or reintroduce.
You can still get them from injections, and I had a bunch of tournament Pokemon from the late 00’s that my friend got legitimate from judging TCG at Worlds, that he just proceeded to clone for us. Nobody thought mine was half-legit, and the only reason you could tell my friend’s was legit was because he still has merch from Worlds in his house.
You can also get something that looked exactly the same as my shiny Milotic from whatever event that was in multiples of the games through other means.
I don’t think Pokemon is a game that can be brought up in this at all. You can actually get everything except Mew, and some of the shiny legendaries, but even then, injectors.
dont release original appearances, instead recolor/reskin them for re-release. in fact, reskin/recolor all the store mounts too, attach quest chains and wallah.
They’ve actually done this before.
In game version. (Island Expeditions.)
I’d kill to go farm Timewalking Ulduar for a recolour of Sparklepony or something.
i hope they give us a second shot at the flamesaber mount. i missed my chance at it since my pc was unable to run HotS…
